Re: Audit License Running long

2003-03-23 Thread Tomáš Hrouda
Didn't you change the AUDITSTORAGE key in DSMSERV.OPT to YES? If so, your
server is computing summary for Q AUDITOCC command during audit.

Re: audit license

2002-03-22 Thread Andrew Raibeck

The AUDITSTORAGE parameter goes in your server options file (such as
dsmserv.opt). The default value is YES. If you specify AUDITSTORAGE NO in
the server options file, then AUDIT LICENSES won't audit storage.

You can use the QUERY OPTION (abbreviated to Q OPT if you wish) command to
determine the current AUDITSTORAGE setting. If you need to change it, you
have to put AUDITSTORAGE NO in your server options file, then stop and
restart the TSM server.

I was going to do an audit license over Easter vacation to update the
status of my licenses. I don't want to audit the storage so I was going
to
do the command:

AUDIT LICENSE AUDITSTORAGE

I was just wondering if the syntax is correct? I looked it up in the
book,
but it doesn't really give the format, it just states that the
administrator can use the AUDITSTORAGE parameter to exclude auditing the
storage.

Re: audit license

Do a 'help setopt' on the TSM Server. You'll see 'NoAuditStorage'. A 'q
opt' reports the current option value in the 2nd column. Set it before
running 'Audit License'. It's not part of the 'Audit License' command.

Re: AUDIT LICENSE and Occupancy tables

Yes, q occ returns good info without the license audit. You still need to
run the audit to use q auditocc. I prefer q auditocc for some things.

I thought I had read somewhere that it was no longer necessary in TSM 4.1.x
to do an AUDIT LICENSE in order to get good information back with a Q OCC,
or with a SELECT from the occupancy tables.

Is that so, or did I just imagine this? Can't find any releated doc now,
or
remember where I saw it (if I really did!)...

Re: AUDIT LICENSE and Occupancy tables

2001-10-23 Thread Bill Colwell

Wanda,

You don't need to do an audit license to get good data back from
'q occ' or 'select * from occupancy ...'. But there is another table
in the server called auditoccupancy and you do need to do audit license
to get current data into it.

I always use the occupancy table because it reports by filespace and
storagepool whereas auditoccupancy adds all the filespaces together.
If you only use the occupancy table you can speed up the audit license
process by adding 'auditstorage no' to the server options file.

Hope this helps,
