Restore individual emails

2004-03-02 Thread Zosimo Noriega

Hi tsm' ers,

Is it possible to restore or recover individual email using TDP for Exchange
or is there a third party agent can do the recovery?

Thank for you help,

Zosi

Zosi,

Please read the Data Protection for Exchange User's Guide,
Appendix C - Advanced restore procedures.
There is a section titled Individual Mailbox Restore.
Here is a URL for the Data Protection for Exchange User's Guide:

  http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/tividd/td/StorageManagerforMail5.2.1.html

Also, see BRICKBACK.DOC in the Data Protection for Exchange installation
directory. BRICKBACK.DOC explains how to use the Microsoft ExMerge
utility and the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive Client to perform an
item level backup and restore.

If you are using Exchange 2003, you should also investigate the
new feature called Recovery Storage Group that allows you to
restore mailbox databases into a special storage group
on the same server or even to a different server within the
same Admin group without affecting the live database.
Data Protection for Exchange version 5.2.1 supports
Exchange 2003 and the Recovery Storage Group.

Thanks,

Del
