Re: Antw: Setup for R3 TDP Problem

2001-10-05 Thread Thida Chin

Did I reply again?...
TSM client match with tdp r3: use /usr/tivoli/tsm/tdpr3 instead of
/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin
ADSM client match with backint: use /usr/lpp/adsm/api/bin/ instead of
/usr/lpp/adsm/bin
From Eugene I saw it was version 2.4 so should be backint rather not
tdpr3.which not match with TSM client
Please check you client version whether match with backint/tdpr3 or
not(no need to match with serverit doesn't matter )
Hope this help..
( or you already solved?...hee..hee...)

Eugene,

TDP for Apps (Domino,Oracle, SAP, etc.) use API client, not the B/A client.
Thus env | grep dsm should also return something like
DSMI_CONFIG=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin/dsm.opt

If DSMI_CONFIG is not set the path show above is the default. And probably
you are altering the wrong file all the time.

There are two ways to manage the password in TDP for SAP. Manual and Automatic.

For Manual Password Handling:

DSM.SYS of the tdp_r3: passwordaccess prompt (Default Value).

initSID.utl: passwordrequired yes.

You need to define the node for tdp_r3 in TSM, and the node name is the same you use in the initSID.utl, and set the password for the node. After this run the following command:

AIX: backint -p /oracle/SID/dbs/initSID.utl -f password

NT: backint -p drive:\orant\database\initSID.utl -f password

The machine ask for the password.

Set the Expiration Password Period to .

Re: Antw: Setup for R3 TDP Problem

2001-09-25 Thread Kauffman, Tom

TDP for R/3 uses the API and not the client; the dsm.sys and dsm.opt it's
looking for should be under /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin; you can create
symlinks to the files in ba/bin, or copy the files to api/bin. I've found
seperate copies to give a bit more flexability at times.

 Hi wolfgang,
 Try to run this command:
 backint -p /oracle/X35/dbs/initX35.utl -f password
It's for reset your client password as what you want...

From my experience, it's need to do on sometimes that you have change
somethings in dsm.sys( just key in the password that you want
 to set...it
 can be always the same)
-Make sure dsm.sys in that directory that you have mention is
 the same as in
tdpr3 directory ( use find command to find the full path)
-the restore under the line #MAX_RESTORE_SESSIONS 1
 # 1 Tivoli
Storage Manager... I'm not sure is this
 correctnormally we either
comment it out or put MAX_RESTORE_SESSION 1
 hope this help

 Hi,
I am having some problems setting up my TDP for R/3.
 The server does
not seem to be able to brarchive due to the wrong password of. I have
checked the setup of other servers, and everything seems the
 same. I can go
into dsmc and do a query schedule for nodename pv_devt. Could
 someone let me
know what I should be doing right.

I have tried changing passwordaccess=prompt to
 generate, but both do
not work, I have tried removing the /etc/security/adsm directory and
generating a new password through dsmc and going back to
 PROMPT it still
does not work. why am i getting the authentication failures? My other
servers seem to be doing brarchive without any problems.
 Would appreciate it
if someone could let me know.

 Many Thanks in Advance! :-)

Hi Eugene,

You can run find / -name *error.log -ls and look into the last
errorlog see whether some line in dsm.opt is not correct or they really
can't find dsm.opt
And one more things is tdpr3 need dsm.opt and dsm.sys in
/usr/tivoli/tsm/tdp_r3/ directory which the server name have tobe the same
as in utl file...( from my understanding yours should be
pv_devt_client
Hope this help

Ops sorry Eugene,

Your backint version is only 2.4 so it is not using tdpr3 directory
but using /usr/lpp/adsm/api/bin/dsm.sys.check the server name in
dsm.sys that has in dsm.opt or not.
Ad also check from *error.log
