Attention Tivoli Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server users! ================================================================
PTF IP22467 Now Available ------------------------- We have just made Tivoli Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server version 2.2.1 (PTF IP22467) available for download. The PTF contains several APAR fixes and can be downloaded from the Tivoli web page or from the ftp.software.ibm.com FTP site. PTF IP22467 Details: -------------------- FTP Site: ftp.software.ibm.com Directory: storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/tivoli-data-protection/ntsql/v221 The parts: IP22467.EXE - Self extracting install file. Download binary and run the EXE file to install the PTF. IP22467.CD.EXE - Self extracting ZIP file of the PTF CD. Download binary and run the EXE file to extract the installation files into the current directory. Then run SETUP to install the PTF. IP22467.README.1ST - README file with PTF content information and installation instructions. IP22467.README.FTP - README file with FTP instructions. Here a summary of what the PTF contains: - The prefix for error message codes in the "Tivoli Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server Installation and User's Guide, SH26-4111, has been changed to "ACO". It was incorrectly shown as "ANS". - A bug was fixed which caused a "query sql" or any backup command to fail if the SQL 7.0 sort order was case sensitive. This problem affected both the command line and the gui and only pertained to SQL Server 7.0 instances. SQL Server 2000 did not experience this problem. - The command line parser was more permissive in the syntax it accepted than had been stated in the documentation. The documentation has been updated to reflect the syntax accepted by the parser. - The "Diff" command keyword has been changed to "Difffull" since it refers to the differential backup of a full (complete) database. - The /Relocate option now works for transaction logs. - Implicit transactions mode is now turned on explicitly within the session established to perform the backup or restore. Previously it was possible for implicit transactions mode to be off. This caused a nested transaction to begin in some cases, which in turn would cause the backup or restore to fail since the ODBC driver provided with SQL Server does not support nested transactions. This setting affects only the session established to do the backup or restore. It will not interfere with other SQL Server sessions in progress at the same time. - A bug was fixed which had caused the gui to crash in some cases if SQL Server authentication mode was specified in the configuration file. - A bug was fixed which could cause data loss at the TSM Server if the copy destination was changed between two successive backups of the same SQL Server data. - A gui bug was fixed which could cause a second partial restore of a list of files and/or file groups to fail when a previous partial restore of a different list of files and/or file groups from the same database had been done immediately beforehand. The bug caused the first list of files and/or file groups to be restored a second time rather than the correct behavior, which would have been to restore the second list of files and/or file groups instead. - The following APARs have been handled: IC29808, IC29849, IC29906, IC30018, IC30561, IC30657, IC31372, and IC32236. It is recommended that the "IP22467.README.1ST" file included with the PTF be read first before an installation is attempted.
