Resolution - TSM Web Admin

2003-03-18 Thread Dan Carlo Freitas Peres
Hi Christian Svensson and others,

The problem of TSM 5.1.5 Web Admin in win 2k advanced server that the left frame after
the login page doesn't appear was solved.

To solve this follow the steps:

1st - stop the tsm service;
2nd - run the command and wait that this finish to process: dsmserv runfile
d:\tsm\server\dsmserv.idl (pay attention putting your right path of the file
dsmserv.idl);
3rd - start the tsm service.

After that, this will work properly.

Thanks,

Dan Carlo

Hi Dan!
I can just tell you. Do the samething I does. Use the DSM Admin Console.
You don´t need Java or something else. ;-)
I´m just joking, But I quick questions pop up in my head!
Do you have any Web servers or another program who is online on the TSM
Server?

Hi Dan!
When you install FrameWork net NetView was you already have TSM on it?
Maybe Netview and FrameWork disable or destroy a file/TCP Port.
So my tip is to re-install TSM Server.
And if you going to install a new server. Install FrameWork and NetView
first and TSM as last program.
Have you look so not FrameWork or NetView use the same TCP/IP port that TSM
Web Admin use?
To see if there is something like that. Stop Framework and NetView. And
restart TSM Server.
And try again.

Hi people,

I'm having a problem in some machines when i install de TSM
5.1.5 in
Windows 2k Server.
I first install the Java VM for Windows and after de TSM.
But when I
try to enter de user and the password, the next screen appears ok in
the
rigth frame, but the left frame doesn't work. Then I opened the
"show
events" and it says to look at VM console. In VM console the
following error
appears:

Hi Dan!
I can just tell you. Do the samething I does. Use the DSM Admin
Console.
You don´t need Java or something else. ;-)
I´m just joking, But I quick questions pop up in my head!
Do you have any Web servers or another program who is online on the TSM
Server?

Hi Christian Svensson and others,

I tried to downgrade my java vm to 1.2 and it still doesn`t work.
The I
tried another thing: to access a client in another computer. Then,
in the
first time, automatically it sugest you to download the JRE by
clicking ok.
It works perfectly, and the console in the client can be seen
clearly.

But when I try to see the admin`s local console in http:
//localhost:1580 ,
I enter the admin and password and still doesn`t work!!! But now
with
another error:

" Web Console Version 1.2
Starting Connection to 10.x.x.x (my ip) on port 150456375
Can't Establish connection to ADSM server
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: port out range:150456375"

Why this port is so high? And why it still doesn`t work?

Hi people,

I'm having a problem in some machines when i install de TSM 5.1.5 in
Windows 2k Server.
I first install the Java VM for Windows and after de TSM. But when I
try to enter de user and the password, the next screen appears ok in the
rigth frame, but the left frame doesn't work. Then I opened the "show
events" and it says to look at VM console. In VM console the following error
appears:

java.lang.ClassFormatError: WebConsole (Bad magic number)

 at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source)

At IBM Tivoli TSM home page support I found a "sollution" to this case:

"... release of Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.x performs a checksum check. Our Web
Admin does not return one. This can cause a Java exception if the IE
browsers are enabled to use Java2 for applets. The use of Java2 for applets
is a feature that can be turned off from the internet Options Advanced
settings menu. Once this setting is set to off the TSM Web Admin Applet will
use the browser's Java to load the Admin Interface"

But it still doesn't work!!!

Anybody can help me?

Hi Dan Carlo Freitas Peres!
What happend if you login from a client machine?

What happend if you uninstall your Java VM? (On the TSM server)
And restart the server and try to login again!

Hi Christian Svensson and others,

I tried to downgrade my java vm to 1.2 and it still doesn`t work. The I
tried another thing: to access a client in another computer. Then, in the
first time, automatically it sugest you to download the JRE by clicking ok.
It works perfectly, and the console in the client can be seen clearly.

But when I try to see the admin`s local console in http://localhost:1580 ,
I enter the admin and password and still doesn`t work!!! But now with
another error:

" Web Console Version 1.2
Starting Connection to 10.x.x.x (my ip) on port 150456375
Can't Establish connection to ADSM server
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: port out range:150456375"

Why this port is so high? And why it still doesn`t work?

Thanks,

 Hi Dan!
I have never get SUN ver of Java Machine to work with the TSM

the only way to get it to work is to downgrade the SUNs Java

go into the control panel and open the java control panel applet. Go to
the tab that says browser and unclick both boxes if they are checked. Save
and close control panel and close IE. Relaunch IE and try it again.
