An interesting read Rejean. Do you know of many people using this facility yet? I can't say I've played about with 6.X too much yet, so don't know a typical DB restore time using a normal TSM DB backup. Is it much longer than 5.5? The last 5.5 one I did for a 120GB DB took 40 mins (DB backups were going to disk) Unless it take much longer, it does seem on the face of, it's a lot more complexity (and required DB2 knowledge) than is required in anything more than an environment that has a VERY tight RTO & RPO. Thoughts? Not that I'm aware of no. Though you can do db backups to a local filesystem on the remote server and then its a simple task to do a DB restore and away you go. We am using two TSM servers( v6.2.2 , WIN 2003 )and have a tape library shared between them . One TSM server AA is on Prod env and TSM server BB is the DR server. Is it possible to sync DB information , active /archive logs between these servers on a periodic basis of 24hrs or less using TSM , was thinking of something like log shipping used in databases .
