Re: Unix Point in Time Restores

2001-06-20 Thread Robin Sharpe

Keep in mind, the admin guide recommends setting your "verexists" and
"verdeleted" to NOLIMIT if you intend to do PIT restores. If you do not do
this, it is possible to have incomplete data, if someone runs many backups
of some set of data... For example, if verexists=3 and verdeleted=1, and
someone runs three backups of the same directory on one day, then you will
only have that day for that directory... if you try to do a PIT restore
from 2 days earlier, those files would be missing!

Just the normal incrementals is fine. TSM does the magic behind the scenes
to determine what files were on the system on the date specified!

Unix Point in Time Restores

2001-06-13 Thread Dearman, Richard

In order to do point in time restores on a Unix (AIX) machines must you run
an Full Image backup once a week and incrementals the rest of the week. Or
can you just do your normal incrementals everyday. Basically, is the full
image backup necessary.

Thanks
