Re: help:server recovery
I've just rethought my post of the other day, it was generally unhelpful. Hope you have all this sorted out by the time you get this. Unfortunately (fortunately), I have never had your problem. Let me know whow you get on. Hi! I´ll don´t think it´s going to work. Becuse the logfiles and the databas need to be syncronized. And if someone of this is newer/older then the other then is everything corrupt. So to next time. Do a Databas backup and backup our Device Config files and Volhist Files. There is a RedBook with name Disaster Recovery Strategies with TSM Read that one and after that you should know everything about Disaster Recovery of a TSM Server. Then halt the server, start it up again, start praying to all the gods in the world that you didn't loose to much data, if the server starts at all. Start reading the manual about the backup db, backup devconf and backup volhist commands. Maybe you could blame someone else for not setting up our server to do ferquent db backups, that might save your job... I've never tested what might go wrong if you screw up a logvol, so I'm not sure this will work. Re: help:server recovery
If the recovery log is indeed gone and there are no backups of the database, then I suspect that dsmserv dumpdb/loadformat/loaddb/auditdb will be in order. These are described in an appendix in the Administrator's Reference and should be read and understood VERY CAREFULLY before proceeding. If there are any uncertainties, a call to IBM support is in order before doing anything else.
