Hi This is not correct. The TSM 5.1.5 server is available as a full package, which means you can install the TSM 5.1.5 server as a base package. I did this last week on a AIX box, and had no problems installing first 5.1.5.0 and then applying patch 5.1.5.4. Greetings! If you installed TSM 5.1.5.0, the code from the ftp site. The code will work for about 60-90 days. After this time in the actlog there will be a message about the code not being license. To get the license code. You have to buy TSM 5.1.0.0 and then install just the license fileset(s) from the 5.1.0.0 CD. Unless IBM made a special CD that have TSM 5.1.5.0 with the license fileset(s) for you. Issue q license, do you see any license information? If not you got a try and buy code. Base level 5.1.5.0 can be obtained by going to: ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/tivoli-storage-management/maintenance/server/v5r1 and clicking LATEST after choosing a platform. Regarding maintenace levels downloaded from Tivolis website: NO maintenance packages downloaded from Tivoli ftp/web site can be installed as a base package, as none of theese packages contains license files. This is regardless to version number(4.2.2, 4.2.3, 5.1.1, 5.1.5). So, the question was, can 5.1.5 be installed as a base package? YES, it can be, assuming you a CD/downloaded software from Tivoli containing the license files. NO maintenance packages downloaded from Tivolis public FTP/website can be used as a base package. Unless you've received the 5.1.5 CDs in the mail. I believe you can install those without installing 5.1.0.0 first. On a SUN server I migrated from 4.2.3.1 to 5.1.5.0 to 5.1.5.3.
