Setting enhancedCpcEnabled in API (PHP)

2011-11-22 Thread servi...@ideagility.com
Hi there,

I'm building software in PHP that sets the max CPC using the API. However,
I've run into a problem that if the user has selected Enhanced CPC, I'm not
able to change the max bid. I've been looking in the API and see the
setting listed in numerous spots enhancedCpcEnabled but it's read-only and
I can not change it so I'm changing all the campaigns and adgroups to
manualCPC. Where and how should I go about doing this?

The best lead I have so far is
CampaignService->BiddingStrategy->BudgetOptimizer->enhancedCpcEnabled and
set that to false.

Thanks for your time!

Re: InfoService v201109 error

2011-11-22 Thread Eric Koleda
Hi,

In v201109 we enabled XML validation for all of our SOAP requests in
production (it was already enabled in the sandbox). The XML schema
included in the WSDL uses a sequence element to wrap these fields, which
requires that the order of the fields in the request must match the order
defined in the schema. Conveniently the docs also list the fields in the
same order, and in this case the clientEmails field must appear below the
dateRange field:

Re: Error handling in Perl

2011-11-22 Thread David Torres
Hi Neil,

As you noticed the library dies at faults by default but you can override
this behavior by setting die_on_faults to 0, in which case the fault object
will be returned to you. So you can do something like:

my $page = $client->CampaignService()->get({serviceSelector => $selector});

if ($page->isa("SOAP::WSDL::SOAP::Typelib::Fault11")) {
  print "Fault: ", $page->get_faultstring();
  ... Your error handling code ...
} else {
  .. Your regular code ...
}

Re: Is there a hard limit on the number of AuthTokens I can generate per day?

2011-11-22 Thread Danial Klimkin
Hello Adam,

There is a limit on frequency you can request AuthToken at. If you request
it too often, you will get a CAPTCHA challenge. This is required for
security and not limited to the AdWords API.

According to the 'Best Practices' you should be caching and re-using the
token instead of requesting it every time. The token is valid for two weeks
so you should only be requesting it once it's expired. See:

  http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/bestpractices.html#auth_tokens

You may also want to utilize OAuth authentication schema which allows you
to have a token that never expires (unless revoked).

I have a similar issue where if I told it to return all the campaign
targets for an account it threw RESPONSE_SIZE_

LIMIT_EXCEEDED.

Whereas if I told it to return all the campaign targets for an account
while then defining all the campaign IDs within that account as the target
it returns fine.

I'm using ruby, but you should be able to follow what's going on...

Return all CampaignTargets for the account...

> targets = AdwordsService::CampaignTarget.new(account).targets()

Return all CampaignTargets for the account, but specify every campaign ID...

I've already got backup code in-case this workaround stops functioning.
Group the campaign IDs into batches of 60 (examples figure, as this will
vary depending on the number of targets on campaigns) then request the
campaign targets, then inject them back together.

targets = campaigns.map { |c| c[0] }.each_slice(60).inject([]) do
> |result,grouped_campaigns|
>   result <<
> AdwordsService::CampaignTarget.new(account).targets(grouped_campaigns)

I was doing something similar with AdExtensions until we upgraded to the
latest API version and could pull extension reports.
