Targeting idea for RelatedToUrlSearchParameter returns the same keywords for different pages on a domain

2013-09-13 Thread KG
Last year, I used
RelatedToUrlSearchParameterhttps://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201306/TargetingIdeaService.RelatedToUrlSearchParameter.htmlwith
 idea type KEYWORD when doing keyword research. It worked great.

It used to return results similar to what Display Planner returns, sorted
by relevance and for that specific URL (not for domain).

These days, when I try it, it seems to return the same set of keywords for
different URLs on a domain.

It returns different sets of keywords for different pages of large sites,
but it no longer works for smaller sites. (Not tiny, but smaller than, say,
NYtimes or Reddit or sites of that size.)

For example, I would supply URLs like these:

http://example.com/
http://example.com/some-page
http://example.com/another-page

(at different runs not at the same time)

But I would get the same set of keyword ideas for all those URLs. And the
content on those pages would be different.

Trying, right now, Display Planner in Adwords provides the expected results
(different sets of keyword ideas for different pages on a site), but
Adwords API doesn't (the same keywords).

Does anyone else see the same thing or is it something I'm doing wrong on
my end?

Incomplete Sign Up Error - Already Accepted MCC TCs + Test Token Approved

2013-09-13 Thread Daniel
Team,

I've read maybe a dozen or more threads on this issue. We've tried
multiple routs of eliminating this error, and done everything the threads
recommend. We are coming here for support from the Google support team as
we have been working at this problem for hours.

+ We are seeing this error: AdWordsGoogleInternalError:
[QuotaCheckError.INCOMPLETE_SIGNUP @ ; trigger:'null'].
+ We have accepted the MCC TCs and been approved:

--
We have received your application for a test account for the Adwords API.
 After review, we have now enabled the following AdWords Customer IDs for
testing with the API:

Your developer MCCID: 268-362-9557
Your new test account Customer ID: 595-843-1518
--

+ We are still receiving that incomplete sign up error, similar to this
situation:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/adwords-api/incomplete_signup/adwords-api/PVe8Hh9RNDw/NDvPcP-4UVwJ
+ We see this error when we try to launch the Google App Engine reporting
Python demo on Mac.
+ When we try to run basic scripts [ rather than the Reporting App from GAE
] we have no issues.

I appreciate the support, this has been frustrating and confusing.

Thank you.

Obtain count of active Product Listing Ads

2013-09-13 Thread Shailesh Humbad
We provide product feeds to Google Merchant Center for many merchants. We
want to monitor the status of the Product Listing Ads by checking the count
of actively running ads each day. Is there a way to do this with the
Adwords API?
I saw some reports like Destination URL Report or Campaign Performance
Report that might work.

I need a simple count, so we can compare it to count of items submitted in
the product feed. It should account for all conditions that may cause the
ads to stop running, including disabled campaign, daily budget exhausted,
and disapproved/awaiting review listings.

This message is continued from a thread I started in the Content API for
Shopping forum:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/google-content-api-for-shopping/mi1pxYohnvU

Shailesh

Placeholder Feed Item Report: Are extensions only those visible?

2013-09-13 Thread rutje
Hi,

The Placeholder Feed Item Reports provides a mapping of extensions
(site/app/call) to campaignId, adGroupId.

The UI in google adwords provides the ability to associate a call extension
to the adgroup level or the campaign level. The adgroup level call
extension overrides the campaignlevel.

Are the extensions downloaded from the Feed Item report only those which
can be made visible to end user? If there exists an adgroup call extension
which overrides the campign level extension, which call extensions will be
shown in the placeholder feed item report?

Re: Account Hierarchy Access for Clients

2013-09-13 Thread Anash P. Oommen (AdWords API Team)
Hi Martin,

Let me explain with an example, I think I didn't explain this correctly in
my previous email.

If you create your accounts as

root
   - client 1 account 1
   - client 1 account 2
   - client 2 account 1

And then you need to restrict that client 1 sees only client 1 account 1
and client 1 account 2 upon login, then AdWords API cannot do this for
you. You have to keep track of the accounts and the clients that own the
accounts.

Your other options is to create the account as

root account
  - client 1 mcc (with login)
- client 1 account 1
- client 1 account 2

and so on. For this,

1. You could create an MCC account for the client 1 and link it under your
root account (or if they have one already, then link it under your root MCC.
2. Create client 1 account 1, client 1 account 2, etc. under client 1
mcc. You can use OAuth2 token from root account to do this, since your MCC
is linked under the root mcc.
3. You need to implement OAuth2 web flow in your application to allow
Client1 to login using credentials of client 1 mcc. When accounts are
retrieved using OAuth2 accessToken of client1 mcc, they will get back only
client1 account 1 and client 1 account2.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Anash

 Anash,

 i've been looking at this some more and have some follow on questions.

 i'm using approach number 2 as you outlined and doing this:

 // Create customer.
 $customer = new ManagedCustomer();
 $customer-name = 'Account #' . uniqid();
 $customer-currencyCode = 'GBP';
 $customer-dateTimeZone = 'Europe/London';

 // Create operation.
 $operation = new ManagedCustomerOperation();
 $operation-operator = 'ADD';
 $operation-operand = $customer;
  $operations = array($operation);

 // Make the mutate request.
 $result = $managedCustomerService-mutate($operations);

 where i've got the managedCustomerService is retrieved using our [root]
 MCC client id.

 that brings back the new account/client id.

 What i'm not sure about is the next part. you said:

 The client will then need to login with their MCC credentials and they
 will see only the accounts under their MCC.

 What credentials? Can i get those credentials and use them to create a
 link to the MCC for them?

 Do we need to generate OAuth2 credentials or something similar for the
 [new] MCC?

 Thanks again for the help.

 Martin

 Hi Martin,

 The kind of permissions you are looking for applies only to MCC levels,
 so I can think of the following approach:

 1. If your client already has an MCC, then use
 ManagedCustomerService.mutateLink to send an invite, accept it etc. so that
 the MCC becomes your child account.
 2. If your client doesn't have an MCC account, then use
 ManagedCustomerService.mutate to create an MCC for them.

 Then, create the sub accounts under the client's MCC. The client will
 then need to login with their MCC credentials and they will see only the
 accounts under their MCC.

 To create account under the a sub mcc, you can use the OAuth2 tokens of
 your root MCC, and set clientCustomerId as the sub mcc. Similar rules work
 for retrieval as well.

 If you want to create all the child accounts directly under your root
 MCC itself, and then choose to show only a subset of that to a customer,
 then it cannot be done using AdWords API permissions; you need to keep
 track of the accounts and display them as required.

 Apologies if this is a common question but i can't find an answer.

 we have an app (with an MCC 'root' account) which we'll use to manage
 clients. We'll use the API to create sub-accounts (already tested with
 API)
 but i need to limit the client's access to only there account via MCC,
 i.e.
 once we create their sub-account under our root account can we set
 security
 so that they can go to the MCC and see only their [sub] account? Is this
 via OAuth 2.0 and tokens and generating a link or can we set login
 credentials? If it's OAuth 2.0 how do we specify the relationship between
 [our] client and the sub account we create for them?

 Can you point me in the right direction for docs, samples, explanations?

AdWords API supports keyword planner, just that its functionality is split

in accordance with AdWords API Terms and Conditions and Required Minimum

Re: Best practice for report downloading from multiple client accounts inside an MCC account

2013-09-13 Thread Mark Ibanez
Thank you very much Anash.

 Hi Mark,

 Your approach is the recommended one, since AdWords API reports don't
 support MCC level reports. However, you can go for the following
 improvements.

 1. Put 4c, 4d, 4e in a thread of its own. The thread method accepts the
 clientCustomerId as argument. Create a new AdWordsUser, set its
 Config.ClientCustomerId in the thread and then make calls.
 2. Limit the number of threads to about 20.
 3. Expect that you may get RateExceededErrors. So put your report download
 code in a try-catch loop with exponential backoff algorithm.
 4. Increase HTTP connnection settings in your code appropriately, so that
 .NET runtime doesn't throttle your connections. Something like:

 ThreadPool.SetMinThreads(100, 4);
 System.Net.ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 100;

 account. I use Adhoc Reports within C# (.Net Library) to do this.

 I already have a working code to do this. The logic for this is as
 follows:

 1. Create an AdWordsUser object
 2. Set AdWordsUser.Config.ClientCustomerId to the MCC Account's
 ClientCustomerId
 3. Retrieve the list of accounts inside an MCC Account using the
 following classes: ManagedCustomerService, ManagedCustomerPage,
 ManagedCustomer
 4. Iterate through the ManagedCustomerPage.entries array
 4a. Get ManagedCustomer object from array
 4b. Parse ManagedCustomer.customerID value to ClientCustomerId format
 (eg. 123-456-7890)
 4c. Set AdWordsUser.Config.ClientCustomerId to parsed
 ManagedCustomer.customerID value
 4d. Get report using ReportUtilities.GetClientReport() method
 4e. Process the report data and append to combined reports

 The above logic works fine although I think it is a bit inefficient in
 terms of API calls. When using this logic, the number of API calls is 1 +
 n, where n equals the number of accounts inside an MCC account. For
 example, if the MCC account contains 10 client accounts, the number of API
 calls needed is 11.

 So here's my question. Is there a more efficient way to accomplish the
 logic described above using less API calls (1 API call would be ideal)?

 I look forward to your answers. Thank you in advance for any help.

 Best regards,

 Mark Ibanez

 the ads and keyword status through the API (AdGroupAd Service
 AdGroupCriterion Service) , the API still returning 'APPROVED' for keywords

 So we think all these customers are running okay as we dont always check
 through the MCC Interface, and slow down our response to resolve these kind
 of issues.

 May anyone help to advice on this?

Ad Group negative keywords missing from keywords performance report (C# library)

2013-09-13 Thread Peter Kingswell
Hi,

we're using the ReportUtilities class to download a bunch of different CSV
reports without issues. However, the KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT is not
returning any rows with Is Negative=TRUE even though the Ad Groups have
negative keywords. The only Selector being used is a date range.

Anyone have any suggestions?

We're using v201306 Google.AdWords.dll, v16.1.0.0

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Done Everything We Can: AdWordsGoogleInternalError: [QuotaCheckError.INCOMPLETE_SIGNUP @ ; trigger:'null'].

2013-09-13 Thread Daniel
This isn't a token issue to my knowledge.

+ We are seeing this error: AdWordsGoogleInternalError:
[QuotaCheckError.INCOMPLETE_SIGNUP @ ; trigger:'null'].
+ We did extensive research on the AdWords forum.
+ We have accepted the MCC TCs and received the email from the AdWords API
Token folks:

--
We have received your application for a test account for the Adwords API.
 After review, we have now enabled the following AdWords Customer IDs for
testing with the API:

Your developer MCCID: 268-362-9557
Your new test account Customer ID: 595-843-1518
--

+ We are still receiving that incomplete sign up error, similar to this
situation:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/adwords-api/incomplete_signup/adwords-api/PVe8Hh9RNDw/NDvPcP-4UVwJ

So I'm simply asking for help. We've tried multiple paths of resolving
this issue programmatically and emailed the token folks. Haven't heard
back so I'm asking the fine Google side gurus here can help unblock this
incredibly stubborn problem. It's literally our only blocker.

Thanks,
Daniel

Re: Ad Group negative keywords missing from keywords performance report (C# library)

2013-09-13 Thread Oliver
A date field is a 'segment' field. Segment fields prevent zero impression
rows from being returned. Since negative keywords don't have impressions,
they won't be returned if you include a date range. To get the negative
keywords, you need to avoid using any segment fields in the selector.

Oliver
