Google AdWords API - CallOnlyAd missing fields

2019-12-17 Thread 'Irfan Rafiq' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hi,

There are a couple of fields applicable to *CallAd* missing in AdWords
API:v201809

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/reference/v201809/AdService.CallOnlyAd
Field: Headline 1 and Headline 2

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/reports/ad-performance-report
These 2 fields are also missing in the AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT

Would it be possible to get these added? I am using Java Client Library.

Many Thanks
Irfan

Partial Failures in MutateAds

2019-11-30 Thread 'Irfan Rafiq' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hi,

I am trying to modify a number of ads using the MutateAds. How can I handle
partial failures as in if one ad is valid but the other one is invalid due
to incorrectly formatted URL, then instead of both failing just one fails.

In MutateAdGroupAds service I can see a set partial failure method but not
not in MutateAds.

Thanks
Irfan

Re: Google Ads API Report Download

2019-11-26 Thread 'Irfan Rafiq' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Perhaps a better usecase would help to explain what im tyring to do.

I download the entire account every morning, then I have an algorithm that
checks which adgroups/ads etc need to be paused/enabled and then pushes the
changes. Currently I download the entire account using AdWords API
reporting service and when downloading the reports as compressed CSV the
process takes no more than a few minutes. However I have just used the
Google Ads API and to just download an ad performance report it has taken
over 20 minutes!

Could you please recommend a better more efficient way of doing this. Our
entire internal PPC tech solution relies on this and we can't have our
users waiting around 30+ minutes to download reports which otherwise would
take a few minutes using the old API. The reason we cant use the old API
any longer is because there are no headline 1 and headline 2 fields in
CALL_ONLY_AD.

Thanks

Google Ads API Report Download

2019-11-26 Thread 'Irfan Rafiq' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hi,

I am currently using the reporting service in AdWords API to download large
files containing all our ads in compressed CSV format. Approx 750k rows.

I am migrating to Google Ads API, but unable to find a similar service. If
this is true what would you recommendation be to download large files? If I
am paging JSON objects surely this is very expensive as opposed to
compressed CSV?

Thanks

Update ExpandedText Ads

2019-11-24 Thread 'Irfan Rafiq' via AdWords API and Google Ads API Forum
Hi,

I am using Google Ads Api v2, and Java Client Library 4.2.0

I would like to update an existing Expanded Text Ad. I tried using method
*google.ads.googleads.v2.services.AdGroupAdService/MutateAdGroupAds*
however I am getting errors such as: request_error: IMMUTABLE_FIELD

However after a bit of digging I believe I have been using the incorrect
service, instead I am using method
*google.ads.googleads.v2.services.AdService/MutateAds*

Am I correct in using this method as opposed to the MutateAdGroupAds?

Secondly I could not find an applicable method to generate the resource
name in class *ResourceNames*. In the end I just created a string i.e.

String adGroupAdResourceName = "customers/{customer_id}/ads/{ad_id}";

Which seemed to do the trick. I was wondering if there is a ResourceName
method I should be using which I am not aware off? Or if not could this be
added in the next release.

Many Thanks
Irfan

Re: How can I set enhanced CPC via the API

2015-10-19 Thread Irfan Rafiq
Hi Anthony,

Sure, hope this helps

The screenshow below is taken from AdWords UI. I would like to set enhanced
CPC. along with either manual bids (1) or maximise clicks to target budget
(2).

According to the API, the bidding strategy type and scheme for these 3 bid
types are:

(1) MANUAL_CPM : ManualCpcBiddingScheme

(2) TARGET_SPEND : TargetSpendBiddingScheme

ENHANCED_CPC : EnhancedCpcBiddingScheme

TARGET_SPEND & ENHANCED_CPC are both shared bidding strategies, so
therefore to create this I first need to create a shared bidding strategy
-> mutate and then get the newly created bidding ID. Upon campaign creation
I set the bidding strategy ID. This works fine, however this makes a
flexible bid strategy which I am trying to avoid. You can see in the
screenshot below it is possible to set these values without creating a
flexible bid strategy. The screenshot below is from AdWords web UI. I am
also able to select enhanced CPC bidding via AdWords Editor. When I set
enhanced CPC via editor it also does not create a flexible bid strategy. If
AdWords editor is using the same API then surely there must be a way to set
this without having explicitly create a shared budget?

Many Thanks

Re: How can I set enhanced CPC via the API

2015-10-19 Thread Irfan Rafiq
Thanks Anthony for your prompt response.

How can I set enhanced CPC on a campaign level with manual CPC or
TARGET_SPEND without using flexible bid strategy? Within AdWords editor I
can set "enhanced cpc" on my campaigns which does not make a flexible bid
strategy.

Thanks
Irfan

How can I set enhanced CPC via the API

2015-10-18 Thread Irfan Rafiq
Hi,

So as I have understood, to create an enhanced CPC bid setting on a
campaign level I need to create a EnhancedCpcBiddingScheme which is
shareable. How can I create a shareable bid strategy but not make it
shared. i.e. I do not want to create a flexible bid strategy for this and
just want to set enhanced cpc on a campaign.

Thanks

Re: How can I get campaignId, campaignName, total clicks, total impressions

2014-10-16 Thread Irfan Rafiq
Hi Josh,

The API has 2 field names: "Cost" & "TotalCost" under the report
"CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT". I have pulled data for these 2 data fields
they are the same, I suspect one will get depreciated? Which one should we
use?

Thanks
Irfan

Re: Reporting Stats for an MCC

2014-04-25 Thread Irfan Rafiq
Hi Bayron,

I use aw-reporting as suggested by Anash, dump all the data into a
database, and then use SQL to generate any types of reports for my clients.

Thanks for the response Anash. I came across that last night but was

 Constructive criticism for the API...

I use the Bing Ads API a lot as well and while the Adwords API does a
lot of things better than them (especially documentation), this is one
place they have a better process. You can query stats for all accounts
 (at
an account level) that the account you are authenticated for has access to
and the results are dumped into one report. It really is a lot simpler
 and
faster. Any plans for something like this in the future?

On a similar note, while I got the code working from the link you sent,
it won't take 'ACCOUNT_PERFORMANCE_REPORT' as a report type when building
the report definition. It throws a 'INVALID_FIELD_NAME_FOR_REPORT' error.
Can you not pull account performance reports this way? Currently I'm
pulling them at the campaign level and combining the values but I'd prefer
to just grab the stats I need (which is at the account level).

 Thanks!
