Very slow query

2023-09-21 Thread 'Johan Alpne' via Google Ads API and AdWords API Forum
e_display_ad.descriptions,

Which at least finishes but it takes 10+ minutes to fetch ~9000 rows which
seems really slow as we can download over 1 million rows for some queries
in less than 3 minutes. Are there any known slowdowns on certain fields or
resources? If not, we would like help to understand why it's so slow for
this customer.

We are using SEARCH STREAM to get the data.

managed_placement_view and group_placement_view

2023-06-05 Thread Johan Alpne
Hello team,

We are currently using the managed_placement_view resource to fetch managed
placements and are now looking at adding automatic placements by using the
group_placement_view resource.

We have read that the managed_placement_view returns all of the metrics
from placements that are manually managed. While group_placement_view does
the same but for automatic placements. However when we query these
resources for one of our customers we get almost the same number of
impressions with a small difference (10 874 vs 10 852) but exactly the same
amount of clicks for a specific campaign. The same pattern is appearing for
all campaigns that we have tested (a handful).

We thought that was strange so we did a query from the campaign resource
which should include all of the impressions for the same campaigns as
above. To our surprise the number of impressions was an exact match with
the managed placement query. So our question is this: What does the number
of impressions from the group placement view represent?

Re: Discovery campaign All features not coming through

2022-12-13 Thread Johan Alpne
Hello,

*[...] which are listed in the campaign.advertising_channel_sub_type

field.*
This was great, thank you!

So if I'm reading this right, there are no subtypes of Discovery campaigns
that are available through the API? Since then, looking at the naming
scheme for the others, that enum would have had something like:
DISCOVERY_CAMPAIGN_.
So only Discovery campaigns that have unspecified subtype will come through
in the API.

Best regards,
Johan

Discovery campaign All features not coming through

2022-12-13 Thread Johan Alpne
Hello team!

I was wondering if Discovery campaigns with subtype "All features" are
available from the API.

I know that the subtype "Product feed" are not (at least not the last time
we asked).

Is there possibly an exhaustive list where I can see all subtypes that are
supported / not supported through the API?

Ad group audience report differing between UI and API

2022-11-04 Thread Johan Alpne
Hello,

We are seeing different values between the UI and the API when querying
ad_group_audience_view.

In the UI we get:
Clicks: 502_639
Impressions: 452_478_659

But from the API we get:
Clicks: 256_097
Impressions: 255_986_030

So almost 50% are missing.
If we query the ad_group resource we get the correct values.

Can you please assist?

Impression Share and Eligible Impressions

2022-07-15 Thread Johan Alpne
Hello team,

We have a few customers who are interested in the exact value of their *Search
impr. share, Search lost IS (budget)* and *Search lost IS (rank)*., but
since the bottom 10% only gets reported as 9.99% for impr. share, and the
top 10% only gets reported as 90.01% for the Search lost metrics, we can't
satisfy their needs.

So we figured we'd ask for the reason behind this decision.

They are also interested in the "*estimated number of impressions you were
eligible to receive*" that is mentioned in the description of "Search impr.
share".

So two questions:
1) Why does the bottom (or top for Search lost IS budget/rank) 10% not get
reported accurately for Search impr. share?
2) What is the reason behind why the "Estimated eligible impressions" is
not available in the UI or API?

Johan Alpne

Smart campaigns not coming through on ad_group level

2022-05-13 Thread Johan Alpne
Hello support,

I have a problem when I run a query on the *ad_group* resource. I am only
getting SEARCH campaigns in the response, but I am supposed to get SEARCH
and SMART campaigns.

If I run the same query on the *campaign* resource I get both the SEARCH
and SMART campaigns.

Is there an issue where SMART campaigns does not come through correctly on
ad_group level? They also don't come through on ad level.

When I query the API using the location_view resource, my response does not
contain any PERFORMANCE_MAX campaigns. If I instead query the campaign
resource they are returned in the response, so they are definitely in the
account.

Is this intended? If so, could you give a short explanation why that is the
case?

If it's not intended or just not implemented yet, do you have an ETA?

Johan

Re: Error while trying to query asset_group_product_group_view

2022-01-27 Thread Johan Alpne
Hello,

We are trying to get "asset_group.name" (asset_group
<https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/fields/v9/asset_group>) with
metrics. We are using the report "asset_group_product_group_view
<https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/fields/v9/asset_group_product_group_view>"

report which has "asset_group" as an attributed resource and the metrics we
are after. However we do not get any data when doing so. If we request the
"asset_group" report directly we do get data.

Does the "asset_group_product_group_view" do any kind of filtering and
removes rows which has empty columns?

Or do you have any other suggestion to get "asset_group.name" with metrics?

Best regards,
Johan Alpne
