Hello, thank you for your response. I have attached the requested "requests
in console.png" as a screenshot showing the URL of the console I referenced
(being that the URL's submitted in plain text as I had evidently do get
stripped out of the message [understandably so]).

API "Requests" value showing in console vs. API calls limited under Basic access

2024-07-01 Thread Steve Begin
Hello,

May you please tell me if the value shown for Google Ads API "Requests" (or
any other metric) in the following console corresponds to the 15000 call
limit the Basic (vs. Standard) access facilitates?
https://groups.google.com/u/1/g/adwords-api

If it does correspond, is it 1:1, or does it differ based on factors? I
made 92 calls in a period of less than 30 minutes (all of the same type of
GAQL based search on the campaign resource) and noticed it only increased
by 26 (even after giving time for latency now for several hours).

Thank you!

Basic Access request limit - checking daily status

2024-02-12 Thread Steve Begin
Hello,

While set up on Basic Access (per this
 link) is
there a way to track how many operations and requests have been executed
for our daily period, and when that daily period resets (other thank
keeping count on our side which our code is being configured to do)? Also,
may you please confirm that it is indeed impossible to exceed the limit
(and so this already prevents any potential non-compliance fines
)?

I do see that the response back of too many requests after exceeding 15000
tells us how many seconds until we may to try again. However, if possible,
it would be good to be able to check that proactively *before* making a
request (especially in the event we can thereby learn our count may not be
correct). It would also be good to know better how the time of reset works.
One day it was about 1pm our time, and another day it was about 5:30pm; I
am not sure why it differs.

Thank you for your help and guidance.

Thank you for your help and clarification; I was able to successfully
retrieve a given hour after I adjusted the GAQL query for my .net code to:

SELECT campaign.name, campaign.id, metrics.cost_micros,
metrics.impressions, segments.hour FROM campaign WHERE segments.date
BETWEEN '{startDateString}' AND '{endDateString}' AND segments.hour =
{startHourToCaptureString}

Just to be absolutely certain then: there is no shorter duration than hour
that I may get retroactively, correct?

Re: smallest duration possible for pulling campaign ads cost information?

2024-02-09 Thread Steve Begin
*Please note*: I am specifically asking the question I wrote as it pertains
to *cost* data, which seems to be primarily if not only ascertained via the
metrics.cost_micros of the campaign resource. The concern at this point is
that it seems there is no way to retroactively collect our cost and
impression information for any data points that were less than a day if we
happen to ever encounter any unexpected interruption/s.

smallest duration possible for pulling campaign ads cost information?

2024-02-08 Thread Steve Begin
Hello,

Is there a way to request Google Ads data from the Google Ads API for a
smaller duration than a day? I realize that requests for a day during that
day will give less since the day is not yet complete. I am just meaning to
inquire if there is a lesser duration possible to pass in. This is
especially since I do see lesser than a day available in the Google Ads web
GUI.

Currently this is the searchStream query I am using:

*SELECT campaign.name, campaign.id, metrics.cost_micros,
metrics.impressions FROM campaign WHERE segments.date BETWEEN
'{startDateString}' AND '{endDateString}'*
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: production mode vs development mode

2024-01-16 Thread Steve Begin
I believe I may have used the wrong verbiage / terms, and I apologize for
any confusion that I may have caused in so doing.

It was my intention to inquire about moving from a "*Test*" *publishing
status* to "*Production*" *publishing status*, as described at
https://support.google.com/cloud/answer/10311615#publishing-status=

Given that, may you please verify that the same three questions you
answered for me still are what you have replied? I just want to ensure we
are taking the correct next step. So essentially, what I meant to ask was:

1) Will we lose our current access while awaiting approval for Production
access?

2) If we do lose access, may you please advise the maximum time
historically users have lost it, so that we might anticipate the
ramification?

3) Lastly, once we click the *[PUBLISH APP]* button shown on our OAuth
consent screen, do we need to again complete the form we had previously
submitted?
3b) if so, will it still suffice to simply submit that it is a console
application using both the *.net client library* and direct *REST calls *via
search & search stream, or would we be required to have more granular
details than that?

Thank you for your patience and assistance.

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Please find below responses for your queries:

1. Will we lose Development access while awaiting approval for Production
access?

No, you won't lose access to Development mode while awaiting Production
approval. Kindly, refer to the document to obtain a developer token

for more information.

2. What is a rough expectation of time for approval?

Approval times for Production access can vary depending on the complexity
of your request and existing Google Ads usage. Kindly, refer to the
document to access levels and permissible use

for more information.

3. Since a .net console application is what we have been using (and intend
to continue using) we are wondering how best to describe the application.
Would it suffice to describe it as a console application using both the
.net client library and direct REST calls via search stream, or would we be
required to have more granular details than that?

Yes, it's sufficient to describe it as a console application using both the
.net client library and direct REST calls via search stream. Kindly, refer
to the document on how to get started with the Google Ads API .NET library

for more information.

I hope this helps. Kindly get back to us if you have any further queries.

Re: get invoices inexplicably reporting "invalidargument"

2023-12-14 Thread Steve Begin
So it here in the forum should anyone else seek the same clarification, I
want to add here that chat support just now advised me that *"if you are
looking to create monthly invoicing application for the ads account, then
the minimum spend of $5000 is required for the specific child/ client
account individually and not combined together."*

I am all set on this specific forum inquiry. Thank you again.

Re: get invoices inexplicably reporting "invalidargument"

2023-12-14 Thread Steve Begin
Thank you. As you have offered, if I may please ask one other related
question:

Is the eligibility requirement of *"minimum of $5000"* referenced at "Apply
for monthly invoicing "
a per-customer minimum, or does it instead reference the combined total of
accounts underneath the manager ID of an advertising agency handling
multiple customers (i.e., the manager ID by which we are accessing the
API)? In other words, if we have one customer at let's say $10,000 a month
consistently, but some others we serve never exceed $3000 monthly - are the
later customers under $5000 not able to be set up on monthly invoicing
despite that we serve their needs collectively with our customers that do
exceed $5000 regularly?

Re: get invoices inexplicably reporting "invalidargument"

2023-12-13 Thread Steve Begin
Thank you for your help on this. I was ultimately able to find the culprit
in a deeper-down error message that Google Ads logging captured (which did
not show in my own c# try/catch).

The culprit was what I had suspected: "Cannot request invoices for a
billing setup that is not on monthly invoicing."

I will follow up more with the person who would manage that setting and let
them know I had confirmed that prior hunch of mine.

I am all set for this inquiry. Thanks again, especially for your patience.

Monthly Invoicing - is it enabled?

2023-12-13 Thread Steve Begin
Hello,

Is there a way I can know whether monthly invoicing has been enabled for
us, for our manager ID, as described at
https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/2375377

I will "reply to author" with the manager ID

I have been tasked with getting information via the Google Ads API for
budget and spend, and I believe this is part of what would likely be needed
to obtain that information from the API.

Re: get-invoices code prerequisites?

Subject: Re: get-invoices code prerequisites?

Please let me ensure it is clear: this question is asking what is necessary
to use the API. It is a general question for anyone seeking access to get
invoice information from the Google Ads API for their customers. For that
reason further information would only seem to risk confusing the answer.
(Additionally, the C# Get Invoices sample code does not seem to make a
request the same way others do such that it may be trapped for obtaining
the details should it have been specific to our scenario only).

Please advise as to what is generally a prerequisite. Thank you.

Get Invoices inexplicably reporting "InvalidArgument"

2023-12-11 Thread Steve Begin
We have successfully employed the GoogleAds API to make requests and get
expected responses for several aspects. However, one aspect is giving an
error that does not seem to make sense. When we try Is the C# "Get
Invoices" (V15) sample code at ...

https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/samples/get-invoices?hl=en

... we are told that we are passing an "invalid argument" despite that we
feel we have thoroughly verified we are not doing so. Again, only this code
sample is problematic, and it calls for very similar parameters as do the
other GoogleAds C# sample code we have successfully used.

We are in Development mode (rather than Production mode) and we have been
approved for Basic Access.

May you please help us know how we may resolve this?

Here is a little more information regarding the error:

 Message=Status(StatusCode="InvalidArgument", Detail="Request contains an
invalid argument.",
DebugException="Grpc.Core.Internal.CoreErrorDetailException:
{"created":"@1701970562.13900","description":"Error received from peer
ipv4:74.125.138.95:443","file":"..\..\..\src\core\lib\surface\call.cc","file_line":953,"grpc_message":"Request

contains an invalid argument.","grpc_status":3}")

get-invoices code prerequisites?

Is the "Get Invoices" sample code at

something which may be used in Development mode (rather than Production

Re: is sensitive data retrieval restricted via basic access in development mode?

2023-12-07 Thread Steve Begin
I had read all the information at the link you provided (
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/access-levels), and have
now done so again.

Unfortunately, I do not see the answer explicitly listed there in a way we
have understood. This is why I am reaching out for assistance.

Regarding the additional details you are requesting, can you verify that
this question is not the generic question I thought it was, i.e., unrelated
to a particular account nor that account's access. It seems actually
pertinent to GoogleAds API use as a whole regardless of whose account and
what access they have.

*I am asking whether there is a difference in more than the rate limit, and
whether production budget and spend related data retrieval from the Google
Ads API is not part of the permissable use / authorization we have been
approved for with the Basic access that we are currently leveraging in
Developer mode rather than production. *
We have no case Id. I will "reply to author" immediately with our Google
Ads Manager Account (MCC) ID.

Please advise.

Is sensitive data retrieval restricted via Basic Access in Development mode?

2023-12-07 Thread Steve Begin
*I am wondering whether the "Basic Access" we are using through Development
mode might not be sufficient for getting the budget and spend information
we are seeking to retrieve for our customers. Can you advise whether our
Access level or the mode we are in prohibit some sensitive data from being
retrieved? * * (E.g., whether we instead need Standard access and/or to be
in Production mode) *

Do the access or mode impact more than just the rate limit, but also the
type of data retrievable?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: 'change details' sample code erroring over 42% of the time

2023-08-24 Thread Steve Begin
Hi,

Thank you for taking time to look at it so quickly and accepting it in the
format I was able to supply it; I appreciate it.

While there were actually 33 change items which had errors in what I sent
(instead of just one), they were items collectively within 13 change events
retrieved by the API.

All of those then had that same general "non-IMessage field was
encountered" type of error (8 variations).

I understand you to be advising to submit a "New issue" to the .NET client
library owner (which I believe is a different team in Google), and I will
definitely look to do that right away.

Thank you for your guidance in pointing us in the correct direction.

Re: 'change details' sample code erroring over 42% of the time

2023-08-23 Thread Steve Begin
Since I received the code directly from Google, and it is the recommended
sample code that Google suggests instead of going to the API directly, it
does not capture the request, response, nor request header. It does have
the ability to capture a request ID within the GoogleAdsException
properties.
Can you possibly provide a modification of your sample code that traps
these things, in order to help troubleshoot your sample code?

'Change Details' sample code erroring over 42% of the time

2023-08-19 Thread Steve Begin
In using the latest .NET sample code for getting GoogleAds Change Details
(V14), found at
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/samples/get-change-details, it
works for 65 of 114 client customers.

However, may you please assist regarding what can be done since - for the
other 49 client customers - the sample code cannot retrieve the change
details because it encounters the following error?

*Inner Exception 1:*

*ArgumentException: Cannot retrieve field value. A non-IMessage field was
encountered after navigating keyword.match_type upto keyword.*
