Re: Setting Content Bid Dimension with contentBidCriterionTypeGroup
Hi Takeshi, I guess I was not clear enough (regarding the first question) as it's not exactly what I was asking... Basically, for Display campaigns only, I can specify what bid dimension should be used for particular ad group. Thus, I can set AdGroup.contentBidCriterionTypeGroup = CriterionTypeGroup.PLACEMENT // use placements bids OR AdGroup.contentBidCriterionTypeGroup = CriterionTypeGroup.KEYWORD // use keywords bids OR etc... As you confirmed AdGroup.contentBidCriterionTypeGroup is not mandatory when creating a new group and if it's not provided then Ad Group level default bids are used. However, once AdGroup.contentBidCriterionTypeGroup gets to be set to PLACEMENT/KEYWORD/etc.. there is no way to reset it back to null, so that Ad group level default bids would be used again. I can definitely can do in UI, but (unless I am missing something) it seems like I cannot do it with the API. Setting Content Bid Dimension with contentBidCriterionTypeGroup
Hello, With the API I can set/pick content bid dimension by using AdGroup.contentBidCriterionTypeGroup field. Obviously, I can set this field to KEYWORD, USER_INTEREST_AND_LIST, VERTICAL, GENDER, AGE_RANGE, PLACEMENT. In the AdWords UI I can do the same, but I can also choose Use default bids' option, which resets AdGroup.contentBidCriterionTypeGroup field to null. Is there a way to do the same in the API (reset AdGroup.contentBidCriterionTypeGroup to null, so that group level default bid would be used)? Also, currently when creating ad group with API without setting contentBidCriterionTypeGroup field, Google automatically picks the content bid dimension and assigns it to contentBidCriterionTypeGroup field. According to this post http://googleadsdeveloper.blogspot.com/2013/07/managing-content-bid-dimensions-in.html, after July 22 Google will stop doing it. However, it's not clear to me if it would become mandatory to provide contentBidCriterionTypeGroup in the request to create a new group. I'd like to think that if I don't set it, group would be still created and default group level bids would be used, but I am not so sure. Could you clarify it? Re: ClickType selector in AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
Hi David, Thanks for your reply! However, I definitely do not see how impressions returned by API are matching UI impressions :( I am going to concentrate on just one single ad (adID='22305789667'). If I check this ad in the AdWords UI, I can see that on June 24th it generated 693 impressions total. If I pull report (using above report definition), I am getting following records (totaling 694 impressions) for that ad: row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='1.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='1' keywordID='134959381'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='2.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Headline'cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='1' keywordID='13491'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='2.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='37' keywordID='13491'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='4.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Headline'cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='1' keywordID='142355184'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='4.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='600' keywordID='142355184'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='2.4' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='21' keywordID='29055'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='3.3' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='3' keywordID='337154408'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='1.5' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='11' keywordID='337158488'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='3.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='2' keywordID='490081862'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='1.2' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='13' keywordID='490087952'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='1.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='2' keywordID='1054394072'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='1.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='1' keywordID='2043251848'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='4.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='1' keywordID='3016619053'/ Obviously, UI 693 impressions != API 694 impressions. I understand that this kind of discrepancy should be expected as API docs states it Since ads can serve with multiple click types displayed, impressions may be double counted and the totals may not be accurate.. My understanding, that in order to get the true number of impressions (693 as in UI) for this ad we should sum Headline impressions only, but there are 2 Headline impressions! For all our clients/campaigns we've been always counting Headline impressions only and our numbers have been always in perfect sync with AdWords UI. It's just this particular client is giving us trouble. Thus, please let me know if my concept/understanding of counting Headline impressions is incorrect, because if it's correct - as far as I concern you guys have API problem... ClickType selector in AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT
Hi, My understanding is that when asking for AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT with ClickType selector, number of impressions in records with clickType='Headline' should reflect number of impressions in records for sitelinks, product extensions, etc... as headline should be present every time the ad is served. However, for one particular client (554-247-5626) when running AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT report with ClickType selector, we get number of impressions for clickType='Phone calls' records that are greater than for records with clickType='Headline': row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='4.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Headline' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='1' keywordID='142355184'/ row adGroupID='6482919067' network='Search Network' avgPosition='4.0' campaignID='144518227' clicks='0' clickType='Phone calls' cost='0.00' day='2013-06-24' adID='22305789667' impressions='600' keywordID='142355184'/ Here is the report definition we use: reportDefinition mlns=https://adwords.google.com/api/adwords/cm/v201302; selector fieldsAdGroupId/fields fieldsAdNetworkType1/fields fieldsAveragePosition/fields fieldsCampaignId/fields fieldsClicks/fields fieldsClickType/fields fieldsCost/fields fieldsDate/fields fieldsId/fields fieldsImpressions/fields fieldsKeywordId/fields predicates fieldCampaignId/field operatorIN/operator values144518227/values /predicates dateRange min20130624/min max20130624/max /dateRange /selector reportNameCustom AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT/reportName reportTypeAD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT/reportType dateRangeTypeCUSTOM_DATE/dateRangeType downloadFormatGZIPPED_XML/downloadFormat /reportDefinition Thank you, --Alex -- -- =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ Also find us on our blog and discussion group: http://adwordsapi.blogspot.com http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups AdWords API Forum group. It's quite frustrating. Our reports fail with at least 50% reate.
