Consolidated Monthly Reports

2013-12-19 Thread Humberto Cuadra
I've been trying to get a campaign performance report to compare the
monthly performance of all my campaigns by using the MonthOfYear Column.
The problem is that I get a repeated month for each one of my campaigns. So
for example, the month August will be repeated as many times as the amount
of campaigns I'm reporting. Is there any way to get the consolidated data
for all my campaigns at the same time, so I just get one row for each
month? Technically I could calculate the consolidated data by adding
amounts and getting averages but that is not so acurrate.

Thanks in advance

Re: Consolidated Monthly Reports

Thanks for the quick response. I was hoping there was an additional option
you could use to get what I was looking for. I guess I will have to
download a different report for each month. Thanks!

MCC access level on test accounts and dummy data for its metrics

2013-02-03 Thread humberto . cuadra
Hi,

I just got access to a test account for a reporting tool that I'm
developing for my company. I have two concerns regarding the test account:

As of right now I only have account access level. This will work for
developing most of the application, but the real tool is meant to be used
with MCC access level. Our MCC account is a global MCC which has plenty of
child MCC accounts. The ultimate goal is to be able to list all the
accounts recursively from the global MCC; that way our account executives
can pick which account to report on. Is there any way I can try this
feature while using the test account? Or do I need the real token to make
this kind of requests? If I need the real token, does this mean that I will
actually have to spend some money while I test that missing area? In case
it is possible to make an MCC level call while testing, do I need to ask
for more than one testing account ?

My other concern is that the data in the test account is filled with 0s.
Because what I'm building is a reporting app, it is really useful to have
dummy data so I can print it in the output. I use graphs and tables to list
best performing metrics, I will not be able to see if everything is working
properly if all my campaign data is filled with 0s. Is there any workaround
for this?

Thanks in advance,

Humberto Cuadra

Filter keywords by status

2013-02-26 Thread humberto . cuadra
Hi,

I'm trying to filter keywords by status. I only want to get keywords that
have an active status. I was able to do this with ads by adding the
following predicate to the selector:

$selector->predicates[] = new Predicate('Status','EQUALS','ENABLED');

With keywords, on the other hand, I got an invalid predicate error. I
looked into the AdGroupCriterion object hierarchy and didn't see any status
attribute. Is there any way to do this?

What I plan to do is to get all the active elements from certain campaigns,
I'm setting selectors with the predicate above and then counting all page
entries, not sure if this is the best way to do it.

Thanks,

Re: Filter keywords by status

Found the solution, you have to use ACTIVE instead of ENABLED:

$selector->predicates[] = new Predicate('Status','EQUALS','ACTIVE');

Cost Per Conversion Proper Calculation

2013-03-29 Thread humberto . cuadra%whitesharkmedia . com
Hi,

I am using the API to get Campaign Stats, everything is perfect except for
the values that I need to calculate on my own, which are Cost per
Conversion and Conversion Rate. As the API doesn´t provide these values, I
calculated them:

Cost per Conversion = Cost / Conversions
Conversion Rate = (Conversions / Clicks) * 100

When I tried to verify these values in the AdWords UI, I found out that
they don't always match with the formula above. I tried googling an answer
and I found this:

*"At a basic level, not all clicks are going to be eligible to be tracked
by Adwords for conversions. For example, if someone is surfing the web
"incognito" or if someone is on a mobile phone that isn't tracked by
browser cookies, Adwords will never be able to track conversions for these
users.*

*So in the case of Cost Per Acquisition metrics, Adwords is going to filter
out the cost of clicks that came from these particular sources. Think of
these as "ineligible" clicks. It's actually in your best interest for
Adwords to filter out these clicks from these particular equations because
you wouldn't be seeing conversions for them in your reports anyways.*

*So, when these metrics are calculated Google is sometimes using a
different cost number than what you see in the total cost section. The cost
number Google uses reflects the adjustment for click costs that never would
have been tracked as conversions anyways. Often, you can simply divide the
cost by the number of conversions as you see it in the interface and they
will be the same, but not always."*

Now, my question is: Is it possible to get a count of the eligible clicks?
Or is there any other way to calculate this properly?

Thanks!
