Subject: [AFMUG] Mikrotik new prefix not working with 1 peer

I have a newly assigned ipv4 prefix, I added it into my 'tik, refreshed filters
and made sure that the prefix was in the filter with my upstream AS's, yet one
of my peers isn't seeing the new prefix coming through, this is the first time
I've ever ran into this before...

I'm fairly certain it's not a Mikrotik configuration issue, and the upstream
transit says they aren't filtering it...

Any suggestions?

I had an issue similar to this where I need to restart the BGP connection
by disabling the peer and re-enabling it before the route went through as
expected.

[AFMUG] PMP 450 upgrade order

2019-10-03 Thread Adam Moffett
I'm jumping into a set of PMP450 radios that haven't been updated in 3
years or so.

Are there any incompatible upgrades between 15.0 and 16.1?

Is there a certain order of upgrades that matters?  I remember way back
in the day when there was a big jump you had to do the upgrades in a
certain sequence.

Nope. You should be able to go straight to 16.1

Make sure you upgrade all your SM's first before the AP. 16.1 is not
backwards compatible and any SM's new out of the box will not work. We are
staying on 16.0.1 for the foreseeable future.

2019-10-03 Thread Ken Hohhof
I’d still check release notes. There were some caveats, but they probably
don’t apply to you.

One was if you have any 430 SMs. Another had to do with encryption. And
another had to do with 450m.

Also was there some discussion that 16.1 might have some bug? I think we’re
still using 16.0.1 here.

Interesting.  Is that related to the new scheduler?

[AFMUG] Remote Control - next question

2019-10-03 Thread Chuck McCown
We are loving the iot switch and app to remote control our air compressor.
But I no longer want to leave my cell phone in the enclosure I made for the iot
device.

So, need a mobile hotspot device. We use AT&T. They have some kind of netgear
device for $8 and change / month.

Should I just get some device and get a sim card? Very low data usage.

Any suggestions?--

>From the release notes:

Note

System release 16.1 terminates support for PMP 430 SMs. PMP 430 SMs will not
register to any AP running system release 16.1 or later. Please DO NOT upgrade
any AP to 16.1, if it has a PMP 430 SM registered to it.

PMP 450/450b/450i SMs with system release 15.1.5 or earlier will not connect to
APs with system release 16.1 or higher.

Get a SIM from Hologram.io for $5. It works with AT&T and Verizon for as
little as $1.5/month. Then
put it in the hotspot device of your choice.
