Re: [AFMUG] 820 License Keys
1440 hours is 60 days. That's a demo mode runtime counter too, not a calendar timer. It's extremely clear that you're in violation mode, annoyingly so. Go to the interface manager and turn off whatever eth ports you're not using, that's usually what triggers when you boot up originally. Normally it takes 24 hours or so to process the keys. If you're in a hurry you can put in a support ticket and they'll run them pretty quick. I just did that today and they got it knocked out after an hour or two. Re: [AFMUG] 820 License Keys
I'm not by the radios now, but I swear that it had a 48 hour Demo counter on the license page. The Manual says it should be 60 days. I'll double check them tomorrow. License key activation has typically taken about 1 business day for me, it seems to depend on when in the day you submit the request. It definitely doesn't seem to be fully automated, there must be some human approval required at their end. But one time I forgot to activate the keys until the night before we were installing a link, and I didn't have the keys by install time, so I just used the demo license. It ran that way for about a month before I got around to applying the purchased keys. So I'm really questioning the 48 hour limit. The 60 days is supposed to count how long the radios are powered using the demo key, so if you are just bench testing, it could be even longer. -Original Message- From: AF On Behalf Of Adam Moffett Sent: Thursday, March 7, 2019 3:42 PM To: af@af.afmug.com Subject: Re: [AFMUG] 820 License Keys I think I got my last 820 keys on the same business day. Re: [AFMUG] 820 License Keys
One other thing, the PTP820 will complain about missing keys for stupid things like too many Ethernet ports. You have to look at the detailed listing of what key violations it thinks you have, and it might be as simple as administratively turning off any Ethernet (or SFP) ports you aren't using. Also just because it complains about a key violation doesn't mean the violation is stopping it from working. But no, you shouldn't need to do anything additional. -Original Message- From: AF On Behalf Of Nate Burke Sent: Thursday, March 7, 2019 3:49 PM To: AnimalFarm Microwave Users Group Subject: Re: [AFMUG] 820 License Keys Is there some magic sauce I'm missing? Honestly, I think I called tech support because I didn't know what to do and they just took care of it for me. Maybe there's an RTFM solution, but who's got time for reading these days :) On 3/7/2019 4:48 PM, Nate Burke wrote: Is there some magic sauce I'm missing?
