I was going to recommend this same tester. What is cool about it is that you can fully charge a battery, then set this up to the proper discharge rate, and terminal voltage (from the battery datasheet), and let it run. It will automatically terminate at the correct discharge voltage and tell you the total capacity of the battery. It's slow enough you wouldn't want to do it in the field, but it definitely would work if you swapped the batteries, brought them into the shop for testing/maintenance. [AFMUG] Battery testers?
We have UPS systems at pretty much every site, and we know that our 12V AGM batteries will need to be replaced at regular intervals, but we'd like to be able to test the batteries to make sure we prioritize the ones which are in the worst shape. I checked on Amazon, and there are dozens of different battery testers of this type, ranging in price from under $20 to $150, but it's hard to sift through all these devices to find the ones that would work best for our purpose. Do any of you use any portable battery testers to check the health of your batteries in the field? Which features or units did you find are worthwhile/necessary, and which units and features are useless or worse?
