Re: [AFMUG] Tarana

2022-04-21 Thread Peter Kranz via AF
Did Tarana make you sign an NDA? I'm hoping you can share results here.

Those things seem to draw a lot of power, hence the DC cabling requirement,
would really up the power requirements of our average site.

Subject: [AFMUG] Transtector DC or MTC DC Surge Suppression?

I'm getting ready to test some Tarana gear. They recommend a Transtector
1101-1110 for surge suppression on the DC line. I recognize that Transtector
is exceptional, but I'd like to know if it is significantly better than the
MTC DC surge suppressors like the 800-DCSS-APC or 800-DCSS-AB-APC.

I'm not necessarily looking to save $150 (Although that is very nice), I'm
more interested in the form factor and how the MTC units will work better in
our small enclosures.

Thank you, Chris

"Our G1 system delivers fiber-class speeds and quality over
non-line-of-sight connections at long range - in unlicensed spectrum - that
are immune to interference and changes in the scene,"

That statement is on their main page and it already makes them full of crap.
If I assume that sentence to contain a kernel of truth then it's probably an
incremental improvement in nLOS performance. No matter what improvements
they've made the Shannon-Hartley theorem still applies so "Immune to
interference" is obviously a statement made with no regard for its
truthfulness (i.e.: bullshit).
