Well. Unlike the members, will just call the list wackynunu, that's just bizarre
and picky. Maybe it has an AI that someone is feeding  the markov bots and it's
just come up with a disposition of its own to weed or eradicate what it
decides.  :)

People who confused it with Animal House or Animal Planet? Furloughed
government workers with nothing to do? People expecting tax refunds and
thinking about starting a WISP? Did the list get mentioned on some social
media site? (10 years ago I would have asked if you got slashdotted, but I
think that would just generate another post "What is this 1999?")

I can operate either way, but it needs to be accepted as a given that

For a well-reasoned argument for both sides of the story:

http://marc.merlins.org/netrants/reply-to-harmful.html
http://marc.merlins.org/netrants/reply-to-useful.html

I'm pretty selfish in this regard:   I just want my preferred mail
client to default to replying to the list in some regard (reply to
all, etc).  It seems like the current settings default that way so I'm
fine.

I am noticing a few more than normal messages in spam, I'd recommend
adding a SPF record to the DNS @ Godaddy, it's going to be a TXT
record which looks something like this:

*Type:*TXT
*Host/Name:*af.afmug.com <http://af.afmug.com>
*Value:*v=spf1 a mx ~all

That's assuming mail comes from af.afmug.com <http://af.afmug.com>,
which the headers indicate that it does.

Re: [AFMUG] The list

2018-06-13 Thread Mathew Howard
It looks like gmail defaults to reply to the sender only... it's going to
take a bit to get used to hitting the reply-all button, but I don't see it
as being a big deal if the majority prefers it that way.

There are probably going to be a lot of messages not making it to the list
until everybody figures it out... then again, that might not be so bad...

This is a religious argument, much like windows vs mac, emacs vs vi, ford vs
chevy, etc.

For a well-reasoned argument for both sides of the story:

http://marc.merlins.org/netrants/reply-to-harmful.html
http://marc.merlins.org/netrants/reply-to-useful.html

I'm pretty selfish in this regard: I just want my preferred mail client to
default to replying to the list in some regard (reply to all, etc). It seems
like the current settings default that way so I'm fine.

I am noticing a few more than normal messages in spam, I'd recommend adding a
SPF record to the DNS @ Godaddy, it's going to be a TXT record which looks
something like this:

Type: TXT
Host/Name: af.afmug.com<http://af.afmug.com>
Value: v=spf1 a mx ~all

That's assuming mail comes from af.afmug.com<http://af.afmug.com>, which the
headers indicate that it does.

If you have a mail client that is list-aware, you probably have a "reply
list" button, like I do.

And thank you baby Jesus, adult Jesus, Jesus on the cross, God himself,
