Force 300 DOES work on epmp 1k and 2k. It will require a firmware update in the
next 1-2 months but it absolutely WILL connect to the 1k and 2k AP's. That's
been confirmed a few times already in Cambium forums and partner docs.

Doubles throughput if all clients are Force 300 AC but you can realize
improvements if only some of the clients are switched like your heavy users.
They will also release an update so the Force 300 CPE will connect to existing
1000 and 2000 AP's. So instead of 110 Mbps aggregate in 20mhz channel, you can
realize up to 250 Mbps in 20mhz channel with 3000 and Force 300 CPE.

3000 is 5ghz only, not 2.4 at this time.

Re: [AFMUG] Splice Cases

2018-03-12 Thread Carl Peterson
I ordered a number of their smaller cases for testing and they just didn't
feel right or seem well thought out. Could also just be that I don't know
how to order the right parts to go inside them. Like ordering just a
Coyote DTC6 case but not knowing how to order all the right inside parts
and grommets to make it work.

Ended up just working with the DTC6 in a layered feeder design where we
feed a string of DTC6s with a 24 strand clearfield cable in 10/6 coming
from a real splice case and then feed YourX terminals off of the DTC6 using
strongfiber run through 10/6. Wouldn't work as well running down a road in
a line but works really well when you need to service a few hundred
distributed houses in a community off of one real splice case.

FYI, Cambium is very good at this. Look at the 400 series. 430 would connect
to 450 which gave longer life to the 430s. You didn’t get all the cool
features of the 450, but the clients worked. ePMP is following the same
philosophy. If anyone out there is wanting to try ePMP can hook you up with
some great promotions. I am certified Cambium consultant and have some pretty
cool options for folks new to ePMP.

Re: [AFMUG] Splice Cases

2018-03-12 Thread Adam Moffett
For drop termination I'm really eyeballing the Multilink Optima-S, but I
haven't deployed any yet. With 4 ports it's around $135, so it does not
fit the lower price you're looking for. It has an upper and lower
compartment: splice trays in the lower compartment, female terminations
in the upper compartment. The idea is during construction you run a few
pigtails from the lower to upper compartmentone for each house you
might hook up. If you're doing PON you could stash a splitter in the
lower compartment as well.

The installer then just does a field termination and plugs it in. My
hope would be that we save time from setting up and tearing down the
splicer, taking the enclosure off the pole, putting it back up, and
retying the slack. We're also not splicing in a bucket or having a
cable puller guy monkeying with splice trays with 144 other people's
service just waiting to be tangled up or bent or broken. I would like
to pay less, but I'm focusing on saving time and avoiding costly error.

I say FS type because everything Fiber Store does is 20% the cost of
everyone else.

Hoping for something lower cost. Not really an area you want to cut
corners on, but they sure are expensive. Say you feed 144 strands in and out
of a typical splice case that has a port that will take 6 drops. You will be
paying $120-$240 for something like that. $20 to $40 per drop just for the
splice case.
Add in an equal amount for the hand hole, you could be in $80 per
customer before electronics just to make the splice.

This is in reference to a BLC 6252-02 (also known as B6-252). Do any of you
have any tips on what to do when the POTS screen just sits there grayed out and
fuzzy? Only the first third of the ports on the main screen show status
