Re: [AFMUG] Mark Cuban on Net Neutrality: "The Government Will Fuck the Internet Up"

2014-11-14 Thread Nate Burke via Af
I just finished reading a book that was gov't reports compiled from the
60's What I took away from it was if there was just 1 city in the US
that was attacked, it would disrupt the entire country. The countrywide
healthcare system could not handle the number of casualties,
Transportation and movement of goods would be disrupted and general
paranoia would set in. There didn't need to be full scale attack to
bring the country to it's knees. I think their example city was
Detroit, and it had far reaching consequences.

A few tidbits: Antares wasn't NASA.

The last shuttle flight was in 2011 and both the SRBs and SSME were made
in the USA. Other things like the Atlas V used to to launch Curiosity
does use the Russian RD-180 engine on the first stage with the American
RL10 on the upper stage, but technically Atlas is United Launch Alliance
(Lockheed Martin and Boeing) and not NASA.

Of course all those things were 50 to almost 100 years ago. NASA is pretty
much a joke these days using old faulty Russian boosters, and we are firing
the best and brightest in our military. I doubt we could go to the moon or
win a global conflict these days. Sad really.

No argument but in reality, those capabilities are the results of amazing
engineering and scientific talent on the part of our industrial complex. If we
spend 10 years developing it and China steals and develops it in 2 years, we
have no advantage. That’s why when I heard Huawei was working with Vivint, it
ticks me off. Huawei are thieves, plane and simply. Of course, we could
always sign a feckless Climate Change bill with them, that helps. What we need
to do is let our hacking community take down their economy and see how they
like it.

Left to their own devices, our military would probably never have had the
