*possibly. If you do announce the test cases, it would be a bit weird for a
program that clearly worked only for the test cases to be considered Working,
but I guess you'd only do that for finite/fixed-input problems?
Hopefully I'll choose a range of tests that show well enough that the program
works
generally and covers edge cases. (Keeping it private is mainly in the good old
fashioned spirit of seeing if the contestants get the edge cases right). If I
privately tell someone that a program breaks, I probably have to reveal
something of
test/edge cases... hopefully not enough to spoil things, though.
4. For the purpose of this contest, Immediately means within 4 days.
I thought I'd heard it all when as soon as possible was 7 days. ;p
Heh. Maybe 'promptly' is a better choice...
6. The first person to submit a working solution of any length (the
Leader) receives 10 points
Ack, this rewards whoever is first to copy and paste the Par solution into a
reply.
The actual par solution won't be revealed until the end; only the length of it
will be
revealed. (btw, the main purpose of the par solution is to get me to test the
problem
first; IIRC, the last game suffered a bit as some v. hard problems were put
forward so
there weren't a lot of good entries).
a. A person's Final Shot is the single, shortest-length WORKING
program that e submitted during the Shootout period.
Is the Leader's initial submission during the Shootout period?
I didn't consider it to be, though I guess it might as well be, so e doesn't
have
to copy and paste the same answer again to get entered for eir 5 points (and
since
e can always submit a shorter one later).
