I don't see how you're reading that. I'm not familiar with the recent
history involved, but...

There are three ways that an office's Assumption can change:

1) When a player assumes office by announcement.
   The office becomes Assumed.

2) When the officeholder ceases to be an active player: either
 a) when the office becomes vacant, or
 b) when the officeholder becomes inactive, or
 c) when the officeholder is deregistered.
   The office becomes Assumed.

3) When a player becomes or would become the officeholder by a
   non-R2276 mechanism (election or MwoP, I think).
   The office becomes Postulated.

Where is there room for paradox or ambiguity?
