I sincerely apologize for the tardiness of CFJ 3866. Somehow I never even
saw that it was assigned to me (if I ever did, I've completely forgotten).
It's entirely my fault for not paying close enough attention to the lists.
If I'm still the judge (which I think I am, but the Arbitor might have
recused me in a message I missed I suppose), I'll have a decision out
within 24 hours. I'm very sorry.

Hmmm... I think I've rotated pretty equally but maybe I'm wrong. I
noticed a couple weeks ago I had to skip you when you were on top (just
for one set of cfjs) because most of the cases were called by you or you
had a strong self-interest in or something. But that was the only time
I've noticed a skip there. You're on the top of the list now anyway.

I have a bunch of informal heuristics for assigning cases (not just

Oops, is this because of the CFJ I missed before the new year that you
reassigned to omd? Sorry about that. I was having a busy spell and probably
ought to have recused myself immediately, but managed to convince myself that I
would get around to judging it that week. My new year's resolution is already

Oops. The decision in 3692 was recorded in the Court Gazette of 20 January, but

BTW, G. had intended to seek reconsideration of that CFJ, which I thought was a

Oh, gotcha I can see the ambiguity there - I meant assignments that
were made since Nov 1 I only used a cutoff date because sometimes
an ancient case turns up that's still open and didn't want that accidentally
assigned to me.

I meant to clear the full caseload (and resign and re-propose the fix) while
waiting for the election to end - thought we were waiting for an assessor to
do that, forgot that anyone could end an uncontested election...

I interpreted the recusals as "assigned continuously since Nov 1",
though if judgements aren't forthcoming then I may reassign them

I mainly invented it because, when I took over as Arbitor, there were several
cases that were caught in limbo because of failed motions or something,
where no one cared about the answer anymore, and it was easiest for me to
just whip through the backlog (those are still reflected on my count below,
3556 was the last of those). But once that backlog was cleared, it turned
out that was a rare event and all the day/night assignments have been pretty
much identical.

I *will* admit to silently Favoring ones that come along (not breaking
self-interest ethics I hope) but I'm pretty much even with Day judges
right now. And R991 actually explicitly allows me some self-interest,
so I'd be breaking the rules if I didn't do that :P.

Hey folks,

I'm thinking of doing away with the whole night/day distinction (but
keeping weekends). Even if someone is generally able to do a quick
turnaround doesn't guarantee they could do it in a particular given
week, and there's not enough cases like that to track.

Instead, if a case is particularly urgent, maybe the caller could
point it out in big letters, then I might ask for favor-ers who could
be quick on a case-by-case basis.

Happy to take feedback here.

Will do and appreciated. (Night gets pretty much the same load as Day
except when there's urgent cases, so it's not as uneven as it looks).

And yeah - I've noted that your tendency to call a lot means there
are fewer that I can assign you to! About half your light load to
date is because weekend, the other half because of that tendency...

I should have explained: when everyone has at least one case under "recent",
I drop everyone's oldest one (it's for making sure people have relatively
similar
caseloads). It's like sideways tetris. That was the only one in your row when
I dropped them. Still, I should leave it on at least in the week it's judged so
will do that in future! (so yeah, admitted).

Would I be able to give the Weekend Court a try, perhaps? I might need
some assistance at first with learning the ropes of what to consider
when making a judgement and how to consider it, but I'm definitely
interested in trying.

Recently-Delivered Verdicts and Implications

[** = consider for rules annotation, ! = delivered late]

!3570 by nichdel: "G is Overlord of Dunce" was not an agency so "Ben
Öyle Öneriyorum" is not an agency.

!3571 by nichdel: "G: Overlord of Dunce" is an Agency via ratification.

3573 by Alexis: G. was the Speaker for the period of time indicated,
but maybe more than that (wording of CFJ doesn't quite get at underlying
question).

**!3574 by Publius: If a person is the head of an Agency and
deregisters, the Agency ceases being an Agency. But if the person
re-registers, it becomes an Agency again.

3575 by V.J. Rada: Oxford commas matter.

!3563 by G.: Under the previous pledge rules, a pledge (in general)
could only be broken once.

3568 Moot concluded: Case is REMANDED to o.

Night Court [Assigned quick turnaround cases (either trivial or

3575 should be listed as "recent" for me.

Apart from that, thanks for this report as always.

I have a weirdly-nagging feeling that I missed one (though I caught
several retractions I think). If I missed yours, don't be shy!

Also, Aris noted this, but many apologies for the CFJ database being
a month behind. Got the assignment & report workflow going but it's
completely separate from the final formatted case workflow - should
catch up (and merge processes) over the next several days...
