No! this is a comun problem with the blind students and this is equally
true, recording of the lectures is the best way of studying for blind
students.

I think we should not link the issue with an individual. It is his basic
right to get the information in any accessible way and the recording is one
of the comfortable and accessible way and use it as many times as one
requires. Moreover, there is nothing secret in lecture. The only issue is
how much a teaching faculty member is confident in his teaching. The issue
is not with the student but wwith the teacher. No sensible teacher stop
anyone from recording. I allowed anyone even the sighted student to do so
because I know what I am gteaching and what is my responsibility to the
teaching fraternity.

2017-10-23 Thread B. R. Nautial via Ai
I think many of us doesn't know, once you lodge a complain against fraud
transaction on your card, the banks can't keep continue your same card, so
you need not to worry at all. you have done your work from your end. Now,
let them investigate the matter but this is equally true, the matter will be
handed over to ciber crime cell only once the merchant claim the amount.

Hi Geetha, the bank has responded that my card is already blocked and they
are in the process of issuing a fresh card. Once the transactions are
reflected in my account statement, they say they'll raise the chargeback
claim. Further, my bank has informed me that they have got the right to
chargeback where transactions do not require OTP. Although this statement
isn't very much clear to me, I hope the matter would be investigated and
settled once the statement is generated

 Hi Vikas,

If you haven't already done so, please call the Corporation Bank's call
centre and have your credit card blocked immediately. Regardless of
whether
the merchants have claimed the amount, your card has been used by
someone,
who still has your data and can use the card again for further
transactions.

Once this has been done, check with the call centre about the complaints
procedure they follow in order to report credit card fraud, and submit
the

 required documents.

Credit cards are normally insured, and once the dispute has been
resolved,

you will not be asked to pay the amount. While the dispute is being dealt
with, the bank should make a temporary credit to your account in order to
 balance the books.

My Citibank credit card was used fraudulently many years ago to purchase
air

tickets worth Rs.25,000 in Europe. This happened when I still lived in
India. The bank immediately contacted me and blocked the card. Although
it

took them three months to investigate the fraud, they did not charge me
 anything.

If the Corporation Bank refuses to do its part in investigating the
complaint or applying card insurance, you should cancel your card and
approach the consumer court for redressal.

Folks, yesterday morning, when I got up early in the morning, I was
jolted

to have seen as many as 8 messages in my text message inbox regarding
multiple transactions having taken place using my credit card totaling
nearly to Rs.35000 in smaller transactions. Most of them appeared to have
taken place on netflix.com and on some other malls based in the United
States. All such transactions happened within a span of just 2 minutes.
Upon

registering a complaint by sending a detailed mail to the head office of
Corporation Bank at Mangalore, they replied back that although the
transactions have taken place, the money under those transactions have
not

yet been claimed by the merchants. If the money is not claimed by the
merchants in the next 30 days, it would automatically be nullified.
However,

they said that they cannot raise any claim of chargeback unless the money

would

My contention is that when I've already brought this to their notice,
shouldn't it be the duty of the staff to initiate the actions on their

Why are they waiting for the merchants first to claim the money and once
the

merchants claimed, what is going to be the end result of this?

To: ai-requ...@accessindia.inclusivehabitat.in

Dear All,
JAWS 18 is causing major headaches for me on my Windows 10 machine. It
becomes slow and unstable on webpages after every five or ten minutes
of use. I wrote to VFO technical support who recommended a clean
reinstallation after deleting all traces of the programme on the
computer including registry entries and Microsoft Visual C++
executables 2005, 2010, 2013 and 2015. They also asked me to
temporarily disable my antivirus and log in as administrator before
reinstalling JAWS. I followed their instructions but am now facing a
much bigger problem. JAWS refuses to start and I get the following
message:
---
JAWS
---
A file required by the driver VCSPEECH.JLS for Remote Access Speech
could not be loaded.

One or more shared components are missing.
Please reinstall this product in an effort to resolve the problem.
---
OK

I have made several reinstallation attempts and even tried the repair
option. Nothing seems to be working.
This is causing me a lot of distress. Can someone please advise?
Thanks,
Moiz.

Sir! I have a great regard for you, so, don't take all these things personally
but this is true, you criticized each of the mail since beginning, related
with the issue, posted in the group. Of course! It's nothing wrong to criticize
such incidents but it has already been condemned by most of the members &
nobody is in favor of all these bad incidents. There are no differences
between any of the member of the group in terms of this bad incident. We all
know, police inquiry has already been started & we hope that it'll give a
positive result to restore the proper security of school campus over there.
Honorable Delhi High Courte is also serious over the matter, so we need not to
worry anymore. I am sorry to say,

Here, each of us is behaving like a lawyer since beginning. This is not the
right forum for discussing all these sensitive issues.

Simultaneously, this is equally true that the group was formed for discussing
accessibility and issues concerning the disabled, so everyone should have pay
their attention towards the issues, related with the Accessibility and issues
concerning the disabled

In respect of Mr. Sarin Ji, I only can say, he is more sensitive, capable,
experienced & responsible person in his life, so, he should have come forward
to assist these organizations by contributing his knowledge & experiences in
spite of sharing his views in the group against these so called volunteers, "jo
in sansthaon kea ad men apni-apni dukan chala rahen hain."

This is true, Mr. Prashanth Varma & Mr. Deependar Manocha have been working
hard for these organizations by contributing them their technical support on
various accessibility issues & we can't ignore their support.

Let me try to bit personal. Were we doing something wrong while criticising?
Was the demand of inquiry a wrong idea? Was pointing the lacuna, knowing or
unknowingly, a serious matter to ponder over wrong? By pointing all this, we
are trying to say that such things should not happen repeatedly. But if someone
amongst them say that there is nothing wrong in such incidence, does it not
give the idea that for them it not a vital issue? This also says what kind of
filthy approach we have towards this issue. Can you teach such a group
something which fails to react or show its disagreement upon the comment of one
of its member? I have no word to say.

Some seniors, since beginning they are criticizing the incident though each
of us has already condemned the incident & expressed our deep concerns over the
bad incident. Whether anybody have any specific mechanism to avoid these kinds
of incidents in future?

Each of us knows, it'll not be the first & the last incident of the
organisation. Every organisation is facing the same kinds of situation in
different-different ways, so, everybody should have give their valuable
suggestions to improve the situation of school campus

This is equally true, the incident took place only due to negligence of
Hostel warden & other resident staff, so, free & fair internal inquiry should
be conducted to fix the accountability & necessary security majors

Should have taken to avoid these incidents in future.

10 years back, I spent almost one month there for computer training & I was
too shocked to find the worst situation of discipline inside the campus. Their
students were involved in various bad activities, like fighting here & there in
the public transport, using Alcohol, one of their students use to come in our
room and stolen the mobile of one of our83 years old trainees, Mr. Pyaralal
Aggarwal.

This is true, their management is totally irresponsible towards the
students of the campus. They are simply enjoying their life in very good
premises of the institution only on the names of welfare of these students.

This is equally true, maintaining of discipline inside the campus should

Some seniors, since beginning they are criticizing the incident though each of
us has already condemned the incident & expressed our deep concerns over the
bad incident.

This is equally true, the incident took place only due to negligence of Hostel
warden & other resident staff, so, free & fair internal inquiry should be
conducted to fix the accountability & necessary security majors

Should have taken to avoid these incidents in future.

10 years back, I spent almost one month there for computer training & I was too
shocked to find the worst situation of discipline inside the campus. Their
students were involved in various bad activities, like fighting here & there in
the public transport, using Alcohol, one of their students use to come in our
room and stolen the mobile of one of our83 years old trainees, Mr. Pyaralal
Aggarwal.

This is true, their management is totally irresponsible towards the students of
the campus. They are simply enjoying their life in very good premises of the
institution only on the names of welfare of these students.

This is equally true, maintaining of discipline inside the campus should have
been the first priority for the management as well as for some of their so
called volunteers but I am sorry to say, nobody took all these things
seriously. Most of these are simply enjoying various facilities along with the
students & getting attached with the organization for their own interest only.
Everybody is trying to give a safe passage to their staff members in spite of
condemning them.

This is the time for these people, whether they should have to be with the
institution or keep themselves away from the institution. This is the total
failure of these volunteers & management of the institution

I am quite confident that some positive result will come out which will give a
better future to the organisation.

Who stops the law but the donors are one of the parties of an institution
which any institution fails to recognise. If it is so, they are supposed to
know the situation of the concern to which they are giving donation.
Unfortunately, we call it donation wheras it is the contribution--not a
selfless one but with a strong feeling and commitment to the cause for which
donation/contribution is given.

Official statement of Radioudaan pertaining to the discussion on
latest incident in Nab Delhi
Dear all,
Greetings from Radio Udaan
We, radioudaan, a disability community radio work only and only for
community and talk about improving the conditions of brothers and
sisters in the community. Recently we had conducted a discussion on
the molestation case which took place in NAB, Delhi. Since there are
so many rumors which r floating around and in this regard we have come
up with our official statement to clear the air. We have got many
feedback with respect to the discussion we had last evening and many r
very happy to see us raise this topic as best as we could. On the
other hand also we got many complaints from many organizations who r
very disturbed with our reporting. Also a few individuals also
complained on the coverage.
Radio Udaan is a very responsible station and we take full
responsibility on our coverage. We quote Mr. Prashant Ranjan Verma who
has written the following statement on a social platform.,
(The incident reported in the newspapers and by Radio Udaan is under
the POCSO act where people are forbidden to reveal anything which
could lead to the
Identity of the victims.
The way people discuss things on the AI list, I am afraid it could
invite legal action by the police.
So, please do not allow this to go through. I am of course available
to answer questions on phone or personal email.
Yesterday Radio Udaan has done a very disturbing show on this already
and they got lot of complains already.
Thanks,
Prashant Verma)

We would also like to clarify that we take full responsibility and are
ready to face any legal action with regards to our show. As far as the
statement of Mr. Verma that Radio Udaan has done a very disturbing
show and we have got a lot of complaints for that we would like to
clarify that we have got just one complaint which was more of a
threatening call rather than being a complaint.
In India we have right to speak so we cannot stop anyone from
presenting their views and as per the revealing of identity is
concerned we have already removed the objectionable stuff from the
show and we have posted a statement on you tube also. This statement
is given by our general secretary Mr. Danish mahajan and one can
easily listen to it by typing radioudaan statement on latest
discussion on incident in NAB delhi.

Whenever in future we will do such a show organizations will get
disturbed with our coverage and this is bound to happen as such
incidents are very disturbing in nature but we will continue to do
such shows and make people disturbed. We are very happy that our
reporting and coverage make some people get disturbed and we also hope
that bringing such incidents to light will make a better environment
for us all in the society.
We request all the organizations that instead of stopping us they must
improve the environment in their circle
That would help us to cover positive news and make the society aware
of some new improvements in the community.
Whatever the consequences may be we will work for our community and
will keep on talking about all the positives and negatives openly…
Here are the you tube links of show of discussion and official
statement by radio udaan.

Dear colleagues and well-wishers,

Recently there have been many reports in the media which include the name
of

our organization. I am writing this email to give you the first hand
information and clarify our position. We are relieved that in general the
media has covered the story properly although some of them have misplaced
some of the facts.

Our Press release is given below. It includes the details of the incident
and the current status.

You will appreciate that our children and the organization is the victim
in
this case and we have promptly taken all the steps that we could. There
is
nothing for us to be ashamed about or hide. In this unfortunate incident,
a

familiar person in the garb of a gentlemen has tried to harm our children,
we have immediately got him arrested and are determined to pursue the case
to its logical end.
We look forward to your understanding and support in this matter.

PRESS RELEASE
Subject: Arrest of a British national for sexual abuse of blind children
Dated: 5 September 2017

On Saturday 2 September 2017 evening our staff spotted a regular volunteer
sitting in objectionable position with few children in an open room. Our
staff asked the person to leave immediately and informed the management on
phone since the office had closed. The senior management of the
organization
met on Sunday morning and after verifying all facts immediately informed
the

police. The police have since arrested the accused for child sexual abuse.

The safety and dignity of our students is our top priority and therefore
when this incident came to light we immediately informed the police. We
want
the law to take its own course and punish the accused for his wrong
doings.
We were aware that since the accused was a foreign citizen, the
organization

would have to face media glare and hardship in pursuing the long legal
battle, yet we have gone ahead and done the right thing by filing the FIR
with the police.

Being a charitable organization we depend upon donors and volunteers for
sustaining our activities. Like all organizations do, we had trusted this
volunteer Mr. Murray Dennis Ward to do constructive work with our
children.

This person had offered to help our children with their studies and in
improving their English communication and self-confidence. The volunteer
used to visit our organizations few times a month and to the best of our
knowledge had been doing good work with the children.

We are extremely shocked and disgusted at this betrayal of trust by the
volunteer and want him to be punished in accordance with the law. We are
cooperating fully with the police who have so far been very professional
and

swift in their actions.
Few media houses have since reported this matter with some wrong facts. We
urge everyone to go with our official stand only. We request everyone to
be

sensitive with the reporting of this matter since it can potentially harm
the future of innocent children.

All our children are safe and happy as of now. We request everyone not to
disturb the daily routine of the organization and peaceful environment by
subjecting the children directly or indirectly to investigation and media
glare.

We are taking more steps to ensure safety and security of our students. It
is unfortunate that the wrong doing of one person will now subject many
well-meaning volunteers, parents and visitors to additional restrictions
within the organization but we hope to get their cooperation as always.
Any questions in this matter may please be directed to the General
Secretary

by phone or email only.

thank you all for your suggestions. but at least for this particular

they all say the OCR is finished, but nothing is read when i move

but thank you all in any case.

After reading all the discussion on the subject so far, I have a
question arising in my mind. If the man really wanted to help the
widow and wanted her to be his life partner, then why did he not marry
her first and perform the sexual communion later?
He took her to the guesthouse and had sex with her, on the pretext of
making her meet a lawyer.
This itself shows that the man's main motive was to satisfy his lust from
her.

Well, maintaining clean distance or having / not having sex only after

But what has become clear from this whole discourse is that our

situation in simplistic way undermining the undercurrents to which
women are still subjected to in our society, while others cannot even
come out of male chauvinism and put the blame of her situation on the
female itself, going to the extent of questioning her character and
sensibilities as happened in the bygone era.

In this case, even if according to certain thoughts it was a
consensual sex, what still remains a question is that what really we
mean by consensus. Asking for a choice after making someone a victim
of their atrocities, creating dependency in every sense, breaking
someone emotionally, leaving no / limited choice for her and then
asking for consensus is really not consensus according to my belief. I
will leave on others to spare a thought to it and decide what free
consensus according to them really is. Did the lady really have had a
free choice to decide whether or not to indulge into sexual
relationship with Mr. Kapoor repeatedly over the course of time?

I continue to believe that Mr. Kapoor deserves the punishment of
harshest kind because this whole case exists because he raped her in
the guest house in the first instance and the convict should not be
spared what so ever the situation is. No innocent deed at later stage
can justify a gruesome crime of rape.

I will stop my comments on this issue for now as most of the thoughts
are repeating only.

On the pretext of meeting an advocate, Kapoor had taken the victim on
May 30, 2015, to a guest house
this words clearly shows that they know each other earlier only.
well, coming to point, lets assume that the accused have taken the
advantage of the lady's position of being blind and widow and used it
to his advantage.
he also cheated her to continue to quench his thirst of lust for several
days,

so he should be definitely punished.
but one question stands unanswered,
if he is punished, he also looses his govt job. instead of facing all
these troubles, why didn't he just marry her instead?
it is impossible to rape a person in a public place like lodge
without her co-operation. i feel.
here we can assume that the lady realized his intention very late
after being locked inside the room and couldn't knew what to do.
kapoor may have managed to convince that he will marry her anyways
later and she may have made to surrender to sex with him.
he may have rejected to marry her later due to any reason which may
have enraged her to sue him.
the lawyers know how to manage the game later. and the story ends.
these are my understandings only.

relationship.

It is clearly stated in the article that she was raped in the guest
house in the pretext of meeting an advocate. Is raping someone does
not call for punishment? If it is believed that this is something
which does not demand punishment of any form, then I question the
sensitivity and understanding of what does rape means for a women.

Also even if it is consent (though I don't subscribe to this view),
then we also need to look what does consent means. If consent means
first victimizing someone, doing crime against them, above all showing
a rosy future, leaving no alternative for them (which all happened in
this case) and then asking for consent then I agree it was a
consensual sexual relationship. But if consent means an absolute free
will of a person, without any burden, any dependency then this may not
be a consensual sex but still demands punishment.

If we go through the facts of the case, the victim was first raped and
then they entered into a relationship of whatever kind was it.

I will reiterate my previous belief that the punishment is absolutely
welcome (though people may question quantum) for what happened in the
guest house. No rapist must be spared measured from what so ever
yardstick. Rapists must be given the harshest punishment demanded of
whatever kind.

HI All,

Directly quoting from the article below lines.
"On the pretext of meeting an advocate, Kapoor had taken the victim on
May 30, 2015, to a guest house in Gurgaon and raped her there for the
first time. He later continued to abuse her, promising marriage."

It clearly states that the victim was raped by the convict first time
on pretext of meeting an advocate. How can it be justified as having
sexual relationship with the consent of the women? The lines further
states that later he abused her promising marriage. The words "
pretext of meeting an advocate" and "abuse" are enough evidences to
impose rigorous" punishment on the convict.

Subsequent sexual relationship could be on consent basis (facts in the
article insufficient to conclude the consent part), however this does
not in any case justify his act of raping the women for the first time
in the guest house. The interpretation by members that at the first
instance also it was on consent is wrong. I believe no matter whatever
happened after that, this punishment is highly justified for what he
did in the guest house. Future innocence (though no proof of that in
the article) in any case, cannot justify the heinous crime in the
first instance.

Comments like “men have to suffer in India because of these gender
biased laws” and “this would further de-motivate men to have sexual
relationship with women even with their consent”are highly
unfortunate. These statements try to show that men are highly
vulnerable in the hands of women because of these laws which is not
the case going by the rape statistics and innumerable crime against
women in India. As such comments are coming from members I am forced
to write that because of such grievous acts by men, females have to
live in India under a highly controlled environment which acts as a
roadblock for them in various scenarios during their whole life cycle.

Cheers

While questioning court's decision is a crime itself in india, isn't
this unfair to punish man while the repeated sexual relationships were
established in mutual consensus of both the partners?
As both of them had sex multiple times since 2015, how can this be
even called rape on the first place?
Yes the news suggests that the man has promised marriage and on
that pretext this sexual relationship was established, but things may
happen in the course of 2 years that may force a person to not marry
other. That does not definitely take the fact away that the sex
happened with the consent of girl.
Promises like these are not documented here in india.
Personally, I feel that the laws are sometimes being miss used by
females, like it has been in this context. This is unfortunate.

A Gurgaon district court on Monday awarded 10 years rigorous
imprisonment to a blind man, a trainee probationary officer at a
public sector bank, who was found guilty of raping a 33-year-old blind
widow repeatedly on the pretext of marriage.

The court also imposed a penalty on convict Saurabh Kapoor, 35, who
was convicted of rape under Section 376 of the IPC.

Additional Sessions Judge Rajni Yadav, while pronouncing the quantum
of sentence, said that given the inhumanity of the act, it was
required to impose upon the convict substantive and stern sentence
that would commensurate with the gravity of the offence and also serve
as an example to others.

It is to be noted that since both the victim and the accused were
blind, the court had relied upon ‘voice identification’ that helped
the woman to identify Kapoor, a resident of Mayur Vihar in Delhi.

On the pretext of meeting an advocate, Kapoor had taken the victim on
May 30, 2015, to a guest house in Gurgaon and raped her there for the
first time. He later continued to abuse her, promising marriage.

The victim, who has an eight-year-old daughter, worked in a private
company in 2015, when the incident happened. She is currently
unemployed.

Public prosecutor Arvind Sharma said that the convict tried to seek
leniency from the court on account of his blindness.

“The accused also argued that he is a government servant and highly
qualified, but all these arguments were rejected by the court, which
awarded him 10 years of imprisonment,” said Sharma, adding that the
court has imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000, out of which Rs 8,000 would
go to the victim. The remaining Rs 2000 would go to the state. If the
accused fail to pay the fine, he will face one more year of
imprisonment.

The judge, in her order, also stated that undue sympathy to impose
inadequate sentence to the accused would do more harm as it will
undermine the public confidence.

“Keeping in view the offence committed by the convict, I am not
inclined to take a lenient view against him and release him on
probation. He has raped a young woman who was helpless, defenceless,
vulnerable and an easy prey who trusted the convict so much that she
surrendered herself to him. He used, violated and exploited her body,”
the court said.

District attorney Lal Singh Yadav said the court has given a strong
message to the society. “The convict had sexually exploited the victim
on the pretext of marriage,” he said.

Subject: [Ai] Unable to click notifications on Windows 10 with Jaws, Please
help.

Hi listers,
as the subject line indicates, I am unable to work with the
notifications that would pop up from time to time on windows 10. Up to
Windows 7, if you click the left mouse button when the notification
pops up, it would get activated. On Windows 10, the same is not
working for me. There are different applications that would give the
notifications, but on clicking the left mouse button, nothing happens
and the notification simply disappears. There is no way to retrieve
the same either. Using up to date Windows 10 and Jaws 18. Any way I
can fix this? Your help is much appreciated.
Regards,
