Most likely the files have non-unicode font. Easy method would be to print to file. This will create PDF with image of pages. Then use google drive and google docs to convert it to get readable Hindi text. The google drive and google docs can work for all Indian languages. Just upload the file in any image format including PDF on google drive and open it with google docs. you need to convert pdf file into image after then viet ocr can convert those images into text file, which can be read with any screen reader.
