[Bug 1030085] [NEW] Password protected menu has incorrect usage of the --users tag
Public bug reported: At the page https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2/Passwords#Protecting_Menuentries, Protecting Menuentries section there are following mistakes: 1. Adding Protection to Ubuntu Entries subsection A piece of instruction reads Add --users : printf menuentry '${title}' ${CLASS} --users {\n ${os} ${version} Actually it should be --users \\ 2. Adding Protection to Other Entries subsection Instructions in the box read: sudo sed 's/--class os /--class os --users /' -i /etc/grub.d/30_os- prober I think --users should also be changed as in the section above (I did not test this). The thing is that in case of plain menuentry instruction (without printf) --users work fine. But if there's printf in front of it the actual menuentry is generated in grub.cfg without those quotes. An example of broken configuration is below: menuentry 'Ubuntu, with Linux 3.2.0-27-generic-pae (recovery mode)' --class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os --users { This small issue actually broke my bootloader so I was not able to quickly figure out what had happened. [Bug 339145] Re: gnome menus freeze after the AC adapter is plugged and brightness is changed with keyboard
can you start other applications when getting the issue? Yes, if they links are in my desktop, or in gnome-panel itself (I can only click an icon, no menu can be invoked). So any program if i don't need to open menu. could you open a command line, trigger the bug and try to run gedit there when you get the bug? I can do it (or try to) if i get console link on my desktop. If I need to provide some additional information concerning this bug I can put the console icon on my desktop and reproduce the bug again. -- gnome menus freeze after the AC adapter is plugged and brightness is changed with keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339145 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
