Re: [lubuntu-users] lubuntu social media page shut down because of legal threats from Rafael Laguna

2017-12-26 Thread Rafael Laguna
Now I ask you: who gave you permission to steal my images? Damn it, you
can even read my name in some screenshots you're using. You didn't even
bother to change or alter them a bit. You even took the buttons (that
look deformed in your site) and exactly the same text that I and the
Release Manager wrote.

And anyways, what's the point of having a "Lubuntu website" that
doesn't get updated regularly? Your solution was to copy the entire
content, knowing its graphic and text is protected under a copyright
licence? We have respect for the licences. What you did is a robbery of
Intellectual Property. Our site isn't  closed. It is hosted in Ubuntu /
Canonical servers, just to protect it and precisely to avoid someone to
take control it over the whole group.

How would you feel to know that someone is trying to steal your
identity and confusing our users? Please, stop doing this. Lubuntu is
for everybody, but if you want to create your own distro, fork it,
name it and create your own identity for it. We worked hard for the
end-users, for free, but not for someone to get advantage of it.

You perfectly knew how this works, you were warned several times.
Otherwise, if you continue, I can only consider your actions as a
deliberate attack to Lubuntu, the Ubuntu community and the users
themselves.

It is sad indeed.

I'm afraid not. Ubuntu general lists must be written in English. There
are several localised mailing lists in other languages though:

Re: [lubuntu-users] Downloading Google Chrome

2017-06-22 Thread Rafael Laguna
Sometimes the Software Manager can't "ask" for installing additional
required packages. Try to open a terminal and use:

sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable.deb (use the proper name)

Then use this command:

sudo apt install -f

...to make the system to look for the missing packages.

Theme will load with no problems. That lowercase folder was kept for a
compatibility with prior themes.

Not all folder have the same icon sizes for several reasons. Some
because they're simply not needed, some because we haven't completed
it. But usually, the provided items should suffice a proper DE
workflow.

That's the compatibility thing. It points to the other one.

Apps launched from a terminal give lots of errors. Some of them aren't
really. For example, when they say that the theme line width for a
widget is incorrect, when it's actually a trick to override it. But
you're right, those "errors" give us lots of information if our theme
isn't complete or has a mistake.

For the moment, I think Lubuntu is working fine, and being completed
when needed. Anyway I'll check it out. Thanks for pointing, Gary.

Yes, but we can't force an app to use a custom theme, modifying all Ubuntu

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1574278] Re: AbiWord text cursor starts to flicker after adding some text

2016-09-14 Thread Rafael Laguna
Yes, but we can't force an app to use a custom theme, modifying all Ubuntu
distros as a workaround, instead of actually fixing the problem. Apps must
use any theme.

Re: [lubuntu-users] Does a default Lubuntu dark theme exist?

2016-08-30 Thread Rafael Laguna
Yes, Simon, the dark-ish theme is deprecated now for several reasons.
We tried shipping a dark panel theme with light windows and (inverted)
white icons. But there were some problems with it:

- the theme needed too many updates, and we don't have the resources
Ubuntu has for maintaining both themes

- after several GTK & app icons updates, some glyphs had to be
constantly re-written (specially the system tray ones) and we can't,
obviously, cover the entire app ecosystem (every theme out there lacks
some app icons)

- LXDE is constantly changing and evolving and that's a problem for us,
the artwork people. See, for example, the language applet. At first we
used a single applet icon for it, then the flags appeared and we needed
to make 164 new glyphs for every language and resolution (keep in mind
having to duplicate all of them in white colour), and then we changed
to Fcitex, all that work is useless now (again, more icons)

That's why Lubuntu theme (the only one) is the only pre-installed,
depending on Gnome icons (they keep those glyphs updated so we can
focus on apps) and same with GTK. Also, a distro usually uses just one
theme, that visually identifies the system, and it can't be the perfect
match for every user. And that's where Linux tops over other OSes,
letting you to customise at any level.

Anyway, if you want to get back the semi-dark theme, you can grab the
GTK [1] and icon [2] themes (I released them to allow any user to
continue or fork them), or even download new ones from Gnome-Look [3].
Sorry if this isn't what you expected to hear, but we're doing a big
effort to keep the Lubuntu overall looking nice, specially now we're
porting everything to Qt, using a new syntax, new apps new controls and
almost re-doing it from scratch.

Thanks for understanding.

Re: [lubuntu-users] Hardware Usage Stats

2016-08-21 Thread Rafael Laguna
The proper URL for downloads is /downloads, not /download. WP tries to
solve it taking you to the closest title. Also, "downloads" is what you
see in the menu.

The menus are working fine. We can't set several "similar" links to
redirect (which is awful to configure in WP) to the desired page.

[lubuntu-users] [Bug 1608306] Re: Confusing for users with many websites

2016-08-03 Thread Rafael Laguna
Thank you, Einar. I contacted with the DuckDuckGo guys, and they were
very kind. They also made a custom search command (#lubuntu) for us!

Regarding the new site, I must say it all began as a simple blog coming
along the main website. One of its functions was informing about the
updates, install parties and artwork. The "problem" is that it started
to grow up, and I kept the release information more up to date than the
"official" site itself. That's how it began a whole site about Lubuntu,
with news, blog, and more sections. And we're planning to expand it even
more.

Nowadays, when Lubuntu sees a new release, we update lubuntu.me the very
moment it happens. lubuntu.net delays it, even weeks after the release
date. That's why I can't consider it very official, as its owner isn't
carrying out the community functions he signed for. The day I can't
comply with my duties, I'll resign and more admins will take care of it.
This is how it works.

Bug description:
  Hi! I have used Lubuntu for many years and thought the lubuntu.net
  webstte was the official site for lubuntu. I have subscribed to the
  RSS feed to get news, but lately, there have been very few. Recently,
  I discovered the lubuntu.me website. It seems more active and the blog
  is up to date on news. There is no indication on either that they are
  not official, but on the bottom of both, there seems to be information
  pointing towards both being owned by individuals, not by the Lubuntu
  project. This makes it hard to know which is the official site, if
  any. Would it not be less confusing for users to have one website and
  make the other address redirect to it?

Yup. It seems Ubiquity gets buggy, but if they don't solve it, we won't,
and we use the same app. Everybody has their tasks. Anyway, we have to
upgrade to match 3.20 libs.

[Bug 1445254] Re: pcmanfm shows mounted grub files as music files

2016-02-21 Thread Rafael Laguna
I don't recommend "forgetting" the MOD files icons. These files are
needed in some audio sequencers. At the moment systems relay on
extensions filenames and not in content (which is extremely slower) we
can't offer a solution. So I think it's an artwork issue. Anyway, as you
already tested, changing the icon won't solve it, and assigning GRUB
files to real music would be a mistake too.

Re: [lubuntu-users] LibreOffice 5

2016-02-11 Thread Rafael Laguna
Hi, Wilbert:

LibreOffice 5 uses a different window widget control and what they call
"menu integration". It has proven to be buggy in loits of environments,
including Openbox, Mutter and minimal X11 managers (Rat Poison, iwm,
WindowMaker, etc). Until they team fixes that (among other news, like
the Libreoffice cloud access) I highly recommend NOT to use version 5,
but 4 instead.

If your problem is the scrolllbar I recommend you to use the official
themes provided by Ubuntu and derivatives (Lubuntu's Box, Ubuntu's
Light Themes, Xubuntu's Greybird, etc). Also ensure you have installed
the packages libreoffice-gtk and libreoffice-gtk3 to enable full GTK3
compatibility.

Cheers!

Also, for the same reason, this piece of Artwork (ubiquity slideshows)
isn't updated as also the wallpaper and other finishes aren't.

Look at the wallpaper piece:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Xenial/Box

You haven't this wallpaper on alphas because it's not uploaded yet. I
guarantee, the usual procedure will "fix" the artwork elements as I did
in previous releases.

Re: Facebook and Lubuntu

2015-08-29 Thread Rafael Laguna
When you open attachments or files from an app, all apps use the
GtkOpenFile dialog, not PCManFM. Anyway, it must show tiny thumbnails as
icons, or you must see, by clicking each one, a small preview appearing
on your right.

Try to clean the icon thumbnails cache erasing ~/.thumbnails
...and re-login.

On 29/08/15 16:24, Wilbert Heeringa wrote:

Dear all,

Maybe I have strange question. When importing (or: uploading?) pictures
in Facebook the filemanager (pcmanfm?) is called, then you select the
files from the list shown, and these will be uploaded.

However, the list showns filenames, not thumnails, which makes it
difficult the choose the right files. Is it possible to change this, so
that thumnails are shown instead of filenames?

I know that you can change this in pcmanfm, I did this also, and when
using pcmanfm individually, this works. But this does not affect when
pcmanfm is called by Facebook for uploading pictures.

I hope anyone can help ...

Best,

Wilbert

Re: Switch from ibus to fcitx for input method ?

My experience with Fcitex is better than with iBus. This one keeps being
buggy with some apps. When I had to use foreign (CJK) characters Fcitex
worked better. Ubuntu Kylin is using it by default.

Hi,

I'm thinking of using fcitx instead of ibus for the input method by

fcitx has good feedbacks.

Do people who use input method have some comments on fcitx usage ? I
would be very interesting to have some feedbacks (I don't really use
input method).

Thanks in advance.

Re: Window compositing in LXDE 14.04 [PPC]?

2015-07-18 Thread Rafael Laguna
It is command line. Actually Compton is a fork of xcompmgr. Now there's
a simple GUI for configuring it, but it's easier to handle in a
terminal. I made a short and easy guide to handle it:

I think that actually compton isn't really CLI based but a grapical
application that is configured with a configuration file. I think I
remember seeing one or two differnt GUI utilities for compton but I
don't think they made it into the repos and with ppas not being build
for powerpc I am not sure if there are builds for them. Sometimes
compiling a GUI from source is harder than just editing the config
files. I seem to remember one a while back called paranoid that came
with pclinuxos but have not really seen that elsewhere or widely
discussed.

I think I know quite a bit for someone who doesn't really like
compositing or desktop effects.

[Bug 1362555] Re: notification dialog has horizonal bars

2015-05-26 Thread Rafael Laguna
After doing another theme from scratch, and testing 16 more themes, and
everything fails, I'm going to re-send this bug to XFCE guys. The
notification dialog takes bitmaps from the wrong place. No matter if you
specify another source, it ALWAYS gets the gnome / xfce / lxde panel
background. It's impossible to use separate images for both desktop
elements.

[Bug 1352962] Re: Not transparent system tray icon on LXDE

2015-04-28 Thread Rafael Laguna
This is not an LXDE bug. Themes must support the background for panels,
with colour definitions or using pixmaps. If the first theme worked,
Lubuntu-default, it's obvious that your panel is working fine. Does
those downloaded themes support newer versions of LXDE?

[Bug 1406807] Re: multiple engeines missing widgets in software updater on lxde

That dialog works fine in Lubuntu default theme because it has GTK3

Update Manager (compiled in GTK3) doesn't work fine with them.

Sorry but I have to ask. Did you install any other environment, like MATE?
Adding more desktops use to add their own connection applets. This happens
to me, using MATE and Unity.

Cheers!

I'm having that problem too. Everytime I use GrSync it alerts me about
that folder's permissions. I simply delete it to continue the backup

[visualization-api] Varios gráficos en una misma pagina

2014-12-10 Thread Rafael Laguna
Hola, necesito saber como imprimir varios gráficos y sus tablas en una
misma página, tengo el siguiente código que funciona bien pero solo para
uno.

script type=text/javascript
google.load(visualization, 1, {packages:[corechart,table]});
google.setOnLoadCallback(drawTable);
function drawTable() {
var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([
?php print* $veccadena[2]*;?
]);
var opciones = {
  legend: {position:'right'},
  backgroundColor: 'none',
  hAxis: {title: 'Nro de habitantes', titleTextStyle: {color:
'blue'}},
  vAxis: {title: 'Municipios', titleTextStyle: {color: 'blue'},
textStyle:{fontSize: 10}},
  bar: { groupWidth: '80%' },
isStacked: true
};

var table = new
google.visualization.Table(document.getElementById('table_div'));
var formatter = new google.visualization.NumberFormat(
{negativeColor: 'red', negativeParens: true, fractionDigits:0});
formatter.format(data, 1); // Apply formatter to second column

table.draw(data, {showRowNumber: true, width:'100%',
allowHtml:true});
 var chart = new
google.visualization.BarChart(document.getElementById('grafico_div'));
  chart.draw(data, opciones);
}
$(window).resize(function(){
  drawTable();
});
/script

[Bug 1337303] Re: xfce4-notifyd uses tiled image as background

2014-11-28 Thread Rafael Laguna
You can reproduce this using LXQt or XFCE4 notifications with Vertex
theme. I must insist it's not a Lubuntu theme specific bug. It happens
with multiple environments, with other themes.

Another question I have is... why the hell is xfce4-notify using a panel
background for himself, even ignoring xfce-notify-4.0 theme (gtkrc)
file? Bitmap panel-bg.png inside gtk2 folder is used only for the
panels, in XFCE or Gnome (and derivatives) desktops. It has no sens that

Re: ibus on lubuntu

2014-11-24 Thread Rafael Laguna
If ibus fail to install try installing fcitx. It's another input method and
it works fine. Anyways, ibus should be installed among with your new
languages.

That's really inspiring from you. I'm glad when people appreciate our
efforts. So many many thanks, for your donation and, specially, for your
kind words.

Cheers!

 Dear Lubuntu friends/tech support,

 Just a quick message of sincere thanks for all your hard work with Lubuntu.
 I recently made a donation via PayPal to Canonical and will certainly
 donate again in future.

 I have also been spreading the Ubuntu/Lubuntu/Open Source gospel to all my
 friends, customers, acquaintances, and the response has been good, although
 it is generally very difficult to persuade people to leave Windows OS's.

 Your constant Lubuntu updates are appreciated, although much of the info
 is above my level of expertise.

 What a great community spirit we share!

 Yours sincerely,
 Steven Duckworth

Re: donate

2014-11-21 Thread Rafael Laguna
Okay, I need you to have a Launchpad user and a Ubuntu personal wiki
(usually the same user name).
Something like: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/jean-cartier

I think you maight be this: https://launchpad.net/~jean-cartier, don't you?

You're now part of the Global Team. From now you can keep contact with in
many ways: from mailing lists (here), directly to me, or using a freenode
channel named #phillw (Phill, let me introduce him, to the channel), a free
and distro-agnostic channel where everybody say what they think. Anyway
we're mainly focused in Lubuntu.

Almost done, but welcome aboard!

 Oh jean, your words are music to my ears :) Have a look here:

 And consider being member part of the Global / translation team. In this
 team I'll assign translation tasks for every language translator, you
 upload it and it gets updated in the wikis / apps / servers. That's the
 procedure. Simple. All text will be under your responsibility.

 So, do you accept?
