Re: [lubuntu-users] lubuntu social media page shut down because of legal threats from Rafael Laguna
Now I ask you: who gave you permission to steal my images? Damn it, you can even read my name in some screenshots you're using. You didn't even bother to change or alter them a bit. You even took the buttons (that look deformed in your site) and exactly the same text that I and the Release Manager wrote. And anyways, what's the point of having a "Lubuntu website" that doesn't get updated regularly? Your solution was to copy the entire content, knowing its graphic and text is protected under a copyright licence? We have respect for the licences. What you did is a robbery of Intellectual Property. Our site isn't closed. It is hosted in Ubuntu / Canonical servers, just to protect it and precisely to avoid someone to take control it over the whole group. How would you feel to know that someone is trying to steal your identity and confusing our users? Please, stop doing this. Lubuntu is for everybody, but if you want to create your own distro, fork it, name it and create your own identity for it. We worked hard for the end-users, for free, but not for someone to get advantage of it. You perfectly knew how this works, you were warned several times. Otherwise, if you continue, I can only consider your actions as a deliberate attack to Lubuntu, the Ubuntu community and the users themselves. It is sad indeed. I'm afraid not. Ubuntu general lists must be written in English. There are several localised mailing lists in other languages though: https://lists.ubuntu.com/#Localization+Lists Cheers! Sometimes the Software Manager can't "ask" for installing additional required packages. Try to open a terminal and use: sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable.deb (use the proper name) Then use this command: sudo apt install -f ...to make the system to look for the missing packages. Not all folder have the same icon sizes for several reasons. Some because they're simply not needed, some because we haven't completed it. But usually, the provided items should suffice a proper DE workflow. > Also, usr/share/icons/lubuntu/ (lowercase "l") only has index.theme > and > no other files. That's the compatibility thing. Apps launched from a terminal give lots of errors. Some of them aren't really. For example, when they say that the theme line width for a widget is incorrect, when it's actually a trick to override it. But you're right, those "errors" give us lots of information if our theme isn't complete or has a mistake. For the moment, I think Lubuntu is working fine, and being completed when needed. Anyway I'll check it out. Re: [lubuntu-users] Does a default Lubuntu dark theme exist?
Yes, Simon, the dark-ish theme is deprecated now for several reasons. We tried shipping a dark panel theme with light windows and (inverted) white icons. But there were some problems with it: - the theme needed too many updates, and we don't have the resources Ubuntu has for maintaining both themes - after several GTK & app icons updates, some glyphs had to be constantly re-written (specially the system tray ones) and we can't, obviously, cover the entire app ecosystem (every theme out there lacks some app icons) - LXDE is constantly changing and evolving and that's a problem for us, the artwork people. See, for example, the language applet. At first we used a single applet icon for it, then the flags appeared and we needed to make 164 new glyphs for every language and resolution (keep in mind having to duplicate all of them in white colour), and then we changed to Fcitex, all that work is useless now (again, more icons) That's why Lubuntu theme (the only one) is the only pre-installed, depending on Gnome icons (they keep those glyphs updated so we can focus on apps) and same with GTK. Also, a distro usually uses just one theme, that visually identifies the system, and it can't be the perfect match for every user. And that's where Linux tops over other OSes, letting you to customise at any level. Anyway, if you want to get back the semi-dark theme, you can grab the GTK [1] and icon [2] themes (I released them to allow any user to continue or fork them), or even download new ones from Gnome-Look [3]. Sorry if this isn't what you expected to hear, but we're doing a big effort to keep the Lubuntu overall looking nice, specially now we're porting everything to Qt, using a new syntax, new apps new controls and almost re-doing it from scratch. Thanks for understanding. Re: [lubuntu-users] Hardware Usage Stats
The proper URL for downloads is /downloads, not /download. WP tries to solve it taking you to the closest title. Also, "downloads" is what you see in the menu. The menus are working fine. We can't set several "similar" links to redirect (which is awful to configure in WP) to the desired page. [lubuntu-users] [Bug 1608306] Re: Confusing for users with many websites
Thank you, Einar. I contacted with the DuckDuckGo guys, and they were very kind. They also made a custom search command (#lubuntu) for us! Regarding the new site, I must say it all began as a simple blog coming along the main website. One of its functions was informing about the updates, install parties and artwork. The "problem" is that it started to grow up, and I kept the release information more up to date than the "official" site itself. That's how it began a whole site about Lubuntu, with news, blog, and more sections. And we're planning to expand it even more. Nowadays, when Lubuntu sees a new release, we update lubuntu.me the very moment it happens. lubuntu.net delays it, even weeks after the release date. That's why I can't consider it very official, as its owner isn't carrying out the community functions he signed for. The day I can't comply with my duties, I'll resign and more admins will take care of it. This is how it works. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Lubuntu, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1608306 Title: Confusing for users with many websites Status in Lubuntu Artwork: In Progress Bug description: Hi! I have used Lubuntu for many years and thought the lubuntu.net webstte was the official site for lubuntu. I have subscribed to the RSS feed to get news, but lately, there have been very few. Recently, I discovered the lubuntu.me website. It seems more active and the blog is up to date on news. There is no indication on either that they are not official, but on the bottom of both, there seems to be information pointing towards both being owned by individuals, not by the Lubuntu project. This makes it hard to know which is the official site, if any. Would it not be less confusing for users to have one website and make the other address redirect to it? [Bug 1445254] Re: pcmanfm shows mounted grub files as music files
I don't recommend "forgetting" the MOD files icons. These files are needed in some audio sequencers. At the moment systems relay on extensions filenames and not in content (which is extremely slower) we can't offer a solution. So I think it's an artwork issue. Re: [lubuntu-users] LibreOffice 5
Hi, Wilbert: LibreOffice 5 uses a different window widget control and what they call "menu integration". It has proven to be buggy in loits of environments, including Openbox, Mutter and minimal X11 managers (Rat Poison, iwm, WindowMaker, etc). Until they team fixes that (among other news, like the Libreoffice cloud access) I highly recommend NOT to use version 5, but 4 instead. If your problem is the scrolllbar I recommend you to use the official themes provided by Ubuntu and derivatives (Lubuntu's Box, Ubuntu's Light Themes, Xubuntu's Greybird, etc). Also ensure you have installed the packages libreoffice-gtk and libreoffice-gtk3 to enable full GTK3 compatibility. Cheers! Re: Facebook and Lubuntu
When you open attachments or files from an app, all apps use the GtkOpenFile dialog, not PCManFM. Anyway, it must show tiny thumbnails as icons, or you must see, by clicking each one, a small preview appearing on your right. Try to clean the icon thumbnails cache erasing ~/.thumbnails ...and re-login. On 29/08/15 16:24, Wilbert Heeringa wrote: Dear all, Maybe I have strange question. When importing (or: uploading?) pictures in Facebook the filemanager (pcmanfm?) is called, then you select the files from the list shown, and these will be uploaded. I know that you can change this in pcmanfm, I did this also, and when using pcmanfm individually, this works. But this does not affect when pcmanfm is called by Facebook for uploading pictures. [Bug 1362555] Re: notification dialog has horizonal bars
After doing another theme from scratch, and testing 16 more themes, and everything fails, I'm going to re-send this bug to XFCE guys. The notification dialog takes bitmaps from the wrong place. No matter if you specify another source, it ALWAYS gets the gnome / xfce / lxde panel background. [Bug 1337303] Re: xfce4-notifyd uses tiled image as background
You can reproduce this using LXQt or XFCE4 notifications with Vertex theme. I must insist it's not a Lubuntu theme specific bug. It happens with multiple environments, with other themes. Another question I have is... why the hell is xfce4-notify using a panel background for himself, even ignoring xfce-notify-4.0 theme (gtkrc) file? Bitmap panel-bg.png inside gtk2 folder is used only for the panels, in XFCE or Gnome (and derivatives) desktops. It has no sens that xfce4-notify uses it. ** Attachment added: notification screenshot https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-notifyd/+bug/1337303/+attachment/4270474/+files/Screenshot%20at%202014-11-29%2001%3A52%3A16.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1337303 Title: xfce4-notifyd uses tiled image as background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-notifyd/+bug/1337303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

That's really inspiring from you. I'm glad when people appreciate our efforts. So many many thanks, for your donation and, specially, for your kind words. Cheers! Your constant Lubuntu updates are appreciated, although much of the info is above my level of expertise. What a great community spirit we share!
