Suddenly I had the idear that my internet connection was tunneled over my ethernet
connection using pptp. I changed my external interface to ppp0 and now it works.

tcpdump -i eth0
Now, from that internal MASQ machine, send out those
pings. Do you see them going out on tcpdump? Do
you see any replies?
