[all-audio] Xhdata D-808 Multi Band Portable Radio

2018-10-30 Thread Dane Trethowan
Hi!
I took delivery of the Xhdata D-808 radio today, pure handheld radio gold is
the way I’d describe this radio.
The radio is made in China and I’m told that at a glance the radio looks
similar to the CC Skywave or one of the Digitech models that the electronics
store Jaycar sell in Australia but as they say, “Never Judge A Book By Its
Cover” because under the hood the differences are quite dramatic.
I won’t go through the whole story of how the Xhdata D-808 came into existence
as the 2 reviews I’ll link to below can do that job for me.
Suffice to say the Xhdata D-808 is the most sensitive Medium-Wave radio I’ve
ever used in a handheld multi-band radio, its even supposed to be better than
the CC Skywave though I can’t make specific comments regarding this as I do not
have a CC Skywave though I’ve thought about getting one many times in the past.
Power is from one LI type battery which is recharged in the radio by use of the
supplied USB type cable that can be connected to a computer and so on. This is
interesting in itself as the Digitech radio takes 4 AA cells and I think the
Skywave takes 2?
Memory presets are easy to set, hold one of the numeric buttons down when tuned
to the station you wish to store.
The speaker sounds pleasant but the radio doesn’t have a tone control as such
not that a tone control is really needed.
Amplification is excellent for such a small set.
Performance on the Shortwave bands is incredible given the length of the
telescopic whip antenna and FM likewise.
Air Band seems reasonable.
Some clever arrangement of features are found on the Xhdata D-808 including the
very standard tuning jog wheel and a fine tuning control thumb wheel underneath
that which works on all bands.
By default the buttons of the radio beep pleasantly when pressed, the beep is
easily audible and not too harsh to the ear. The beeps can be turned off by
holding down the number 5 button on the numeric keypad.
I bought my set from Amazon Australia priority shipped for $99 Australian thus
I rate this product as an extremely good value for money purchase.
If you want to find out more regarding this radio then go to the following

this set even more sensitive on the Medium-Wave band

Re: [all-audio] call recorders

2018-10-30 Thread Drew Hunthausen
Aman,
Looking to preferably record from cell or internet phone, whichever one is
easier and ultamatly cheaper. I I don't have any experience doing this so
definitely feel free to pry and ask any questions for clarification. In
terms of my cell provider, I use Verizon. Thanks so much

Hi,

I'm sorry to be dense, but are you after one product which will
record from all three, landline, internet phone, and cell, or are you after
separate products for each method of recording? Both exist, you understand,
my point isn't to rule out one option, I just want to know which you're
looking for specifically.
I may also say that recording is easy, automatic transcription is
fairly hard. Also, if I may ask, what is your budget for this?
Finally, relating specifically to the cell, what phone and network
are you wanting to use?
HTH,
Aman

Hi list,

Wanted to put this out there as I don't know if anything exists. I'm looking
for either a stand alone unit or software to record phone calls either
through a landline call, internet phone, or cell. If possible I would also
like something with an option to have the audio translated to text. Again
don't know what is out there, but would love your thoughts. Thanks

[all-audio] Audacity

2018-10-30 Thread Drew Hunthausen
Hi list,

I know "Audacity" has been discussed here before so please bare with me as I
am totally new to it. I'm looking for an option to record phone calls and
after doing a search looks like Audacity is something that would work to do
this. I would love any feedback/ suggestions from people who have used the
softward before and how Jaws friendly it is. Thanks so much!

Re: [all-audio] Amazon Echo Dot 3rd Generation

2018-10-30 Thread Dane Trethowan
About to give this a go, I assume you can pair the Echo 2nd generation in the
same way - not to be confused with the Dot of course -.

You can either group them together foam multi room music or you can set them up
as a stereo pair.

[all-audio] Winamp Focus

2018-10-30 Thread Howard Traxler
Hi All,
Did anyone figure out how to make the Winamp window stay in focus? When I
start Winamp using a folder view in Windows Explorer, the Winamp window goes
away. I have to restart Winamp. Then I can toggle between Winamp and the
folder view..

Thanks.

Thanks, Colin, for your response. But that's what I was afraid of. Just
thought there might be an easier answer.
