Hi Kami,

Out of curiosity, how many dict files do you have installed that you call "a
lot"?

If it's 2 or 3, then we've definitely got a reason to be concerned.

If it's 10+, then perhaps it's not such a high priority as most end users won't
have this happen to them.

I didn't say we should ignore it, just that compared to bugs that affect most
users, this just counts less. Hope you understand. :)

Regards and best wishes,

Justin Clift

WinXP
1.9.80

If you go to Draw toolbar then to basic shapes you may check this:
Draw with second group of buttons Circle pie - Isosceles triangle - right
triangle - trapezoid.
In my opinion the second and third button is draw opposite shape. It's only a
wrong button assigment. Not more not less.

Thanks sorry, I am still learning the terminology. Is 1.9.80 considered a
milestone? Or is a milestone one that is "publicly" released?

Thanks.

It seems there is still confusion, if not forgive me.

In 2.0 once the file is saved, the title is no longer displayed in the title
bar. One the file name with extension displays.

This is be design, in the spec you sent me, mci, in issue #43511.

Hope this helps.

MCI -- Thanks.

I have read the spec, that is why I made my statement that we are trying to be
more like MS Office. The only part of the spec that even mentions using the file
name is under competitive analysis. It is metioned no where in the motivation.
The motivation can be acheived without taking away the file title option.

Since they have made this choice, I would like the extenstion removed so it is
atleast kind of like a title.

Sorry for the the loose description, but the real problem is still unclear, but
the resulting problem can be seen in issue 43225.

With the following attached files the problem can be reproduced like this:

First the failing example. (Cygwin perl calls dmake calls nmake.)
[4nt-shell]perl syscall.pl
echo C:\4NT401\4NT.EXE here
C:\4NT401\4NT.EXE here
set OS=egal && set GUI=gui && nmake  /f f.mk
(nmake disclaimer removed)
echo %OS% %GUI
egal gui
echo WNT gui
WNT gui

Now the prove that it works when dmake is called directly and calls nmake:

[4nt-shell]dmake
echo C:\4NT401\4NT.EXE here
C:\4NT401\4NT.EXE here
set OS=egal && set GUI=gui && nmake  /f f.mk
(nmake disclaimer removed)
echo %OS% %GUI
egal gui
echo egal gui
egal gui

It seems the problem does not arise for all variables, but at least OS and PWD
(see tg_ext.mk" line 112) seem to be affected.

The Document Recovery feature seems to be falsely triggering. Whether creating
a new database or connecting to an existing database (i.e... ms access), the
initial connection works fine. On all subsequent attempts at opening the *.odb
document, the Document Recovery dialog pops up. There seems to be no actual
issue with the file(s)(i.e... ms access database or *.odb file). Canceling the
Document Recovery seems to work just as well as running through the document
recovery.

File->Templates->Organize

In this dialog, individual documents or templates can be further "opened" by
double clicking on them. This is very non-obvious to the user, as in "normal"
GUIs
(like, say file managers like Nautilus or Explorer) documents themselves cannot
be further "decomposed".

Adding "plusses" or disclosure triangles would make this a lot more obvious. It
would also make this interface more consistent with other, similar interfaces
in
OOo, like the hierarchial view in the "Styles and Formatting" dialog or the
interface of the Options dialog. I think this very minor modification could
improve discoverability a lot!

Mockup:
http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/template-management-disclosure.png

Thanks!

I have an email in to CPH to see how the User-Faq project is going.

We can go ahead and change the page for the moment with the understanding that
we may need to change it again once CPH gets in touch with us.

http://website.openoffice.org/tryouts/dcarrera/contributing/en/writing2.html

Louis, Please go ahead and make the changes to put this page in place.

I don't know about the user-faq project. I don't follow the FAQs. But I think
it's fair to say that most of the *activity* is at documentation, and that's
what really matters.

I just fixed the Tutorials/Howto section (I think). If you'd like to rewrite it,
by all means. Just tell me what to put down.

Cheers,
Daniel.

I see a couple problems with this update.

FAQ - There is no mention of the user-faq project. Is it dead? I thought CPH
was keeping it updated.

Tutorials and How To - There is no mention of the Documentation Project Task
List.

I believe we should still reference the doc project as a possible contribution
avenue. I don't want to lose options that are available currently.

CN Engineering need to take the "indexer" down for 10-12 hours. They have
setup the indexer on a separate box to copy the data and then re-index it over
there and then re-populate the fixed index on the Openoffice box.

This coming Monday (Feb 28, 2005) is when we would like to do this starting 5-
00 PM PST. Approx. 10-12 hours later, the indexer should be up again.

Please update the ticket with your confirmation on this.

@cl: Fixed the invisible text. What remains, is a now wrongly imported text
iteration timeout - all three text animations have values above 100% there, and
XIterationContainer::getIterateInterval() returns 100 seconds for all cases.
Please have a look (CWS presfixes01).

Microsoft office has the ability to set a transparency color in a pasted
picture. You press a button on the picture floating toolbar, and choose the
color to be transparent.

I think this should be integrated into Open Office. It is very helpful for
school projects.

Slowness remains.
Noted this additional effect:
I first thought I could not use the horizontal scrollbar at all.
Turned out that it ONLY moved to the right, until it was completely in
the rightmost position. Only then could I move it again to the left.

AW: I will investigate.
First thing: When OOo/SO is exporting a polygon, it always creates fitting pairs
of svg:width, svg:height, svg:viewBox and draw:points. E.g. a triangle at pos
(2,2) and with width and height of (5,5) creates:
svg:width="5cm" svg:height="5cm"
svg:x="2.xxcm" svg:y="2.yycm"
svg:viewBox="0 0 5501 5001"
draw:points="0,0 5500,0 0,5000"
(the xx and yy is the page offset to the page frame). So, the polygon is
unrotated, unsheared and untranslated, but scaled. The ViewBox just describes
the polygon dimensions. That's how all OOo/SO created files look.
Now for the import...

Okay, no response from Gerry. Can we take it to mean that everything is cool?

Here's another thought: Just change the page today. If issues arrise later, JUST
FIX THEM. It's not hard. It's just a link. No biggie. It should take less than 3
weeks to update some links.

Cheers,

I didn't reproduce this problem on my own build machine, but the ubuntu
automatic build machines had this problem, where they seem to have interpreted
the '#' in the C# directory as the beginning of a shell comment (see the URL
field for the full build log). I added quoting to the commands in the makefile
(will attach patch), and now all is well.

AW: In SdrObjEditView::SetAttributes, when handling text in edit mode and all
text is selected, there is an AddUndo for SdrUndoAttrObj, but the last argument
- the flag for rescuing the text - is false in that case. I extended it to be
true when the object is a text object, like it is in
SdrEditView::SetAttrToMarked(...). Trying.

sorry that I did not answer earlier. But your descritption were not clear to me
and since you only added the files without answering my question, I skipped this
one and did other tasks...

So my assumtion "You mean you want to import 1,20 but OOo stores only "1,2"
right?"

Is correct and indeed this is a duplicate.

simonbr -> SBA, sorry, I hope the updated summary is better.

Yes, I encountered this in translation of the software. However, this is not
just a question about translation.

If "AutoMail" is a function of OOo then it may be an issue with documentation,
because I can't find anything about AutoMail in the online help. Or it may be an
issue with the UI because the function may have been named something else,
without the string having been updated. Or, as you say, it may be a dead string,
in which case it should be cleaned up. In any of these cases this would be a
legitimate issue.

At the same time, I am curious about the AutoMail function, if it actually
exists...

It would be a great enhancement to be able to Load Styles... from a Master
Document (.odm), centralizing the styles used in a large work.

At this point I have to keep a separate Styles.odt and at each time I
create/update a style I need to:
#1 create/update style in Styles.odt
#2 load into master document Doc.odm and test the style
#3 load into document sction sectionX.odt

It would save a couple steps to be able to load styles from .odm:
#1 create/update AND test style in Master.odm
#2 load into any subdocument

... making the whole process much easier.

Fanx,
Mike

- generate a new dosument (for example a writer document)
- save the document
- export it as PDF
- open the PDF file (in adobe reader) and keep it open
- again try to export the file as PDF to the same directoy and filename
- (a request to overwrite the file has to be confirmed)

- press the "Export"-button: now 3 error messages appear. The first two are
identical. I think one should be removed!

- now press the save-icon: an error message appears! (attached screenshot) This
is the main problem here.

Now it is impossible to save the document! -> major bug, P2!

Please note:
I think it is a framework bug. But I have only tested writer and calc.

Open Base application, and create a new database. Open the database for editing,

AW: If using the format/text... entry from the menu it works well. So i guess
it's some special/exception handling in sd? Both create the same undo-action
text, though. Looking deeper...

AW: This is a hard one, checked export, works. Checked import, works in
principle. Problem is that during import and API commands to the connector, the
connector is re-layouting as crazy. That (old) relayouting will throw away that
user-defined offsets when a better connection is found because when other exit
angles are choosen during layout, that values vanish. I think this is not by
purpose, but jus an ols connector but (another one...).
To fix this i guess it's the best to suppress relayouting during import, so i
use GetModel()->isLocked() switch at the model which is used during import.
Whent that flag is deleted, a connector relayout is done anyways
(ImpReformatAllEdgeObjects() in SdrModel::setLock(...).
AW: Tested, checking in and adding to CWS aw28.

When I saved a document as PDF today in m80 (Pavel Janik build) it gave me the
following warning (German locale, but it should be obvious):

http://www.pangea.at/~ralph/bugme-pdf.png

I don't think this is intended, and I think it might confuse users.
Of course I want to be warned when saving degrades my document, but not
when saving to a basically read-only export format like PDF that cannot
be edited in OOo anyway.

Debian sid, i386, Gnome 2.8, GTK+ NWF

TIA
/ralph

Thanks, the problem has been solved after i open permission access to the
directory
tmp.

Doc and Xls files require the use of tmp while Ppt does not as i dont face this
issue with Ppt.

SBA: I don't see a point in setting up a whole new UI project for the few words
(mainly ~ise/~ize ~isation/~ization, colour/color, ...) that seperate en-UK and
en-US. None of these is a hinderance in using OOo

But I may be wrong and there is Britons out there who are willing tol make such
an effort in order to serve their pride, SCNR :-)

Type set t oEnhancement, Prio set from P2 (for crashes and data loss) to P4 (for
minor inconveninences) Set to wontfix. Please reopen only if you find someone
willing to (see above).

SBA: Sound like a meaningful enhancement for people dealing with different CTL
scripts.
I adjusted the summary to match the findings. Reassigned to requirements.
