Occurred when anchoring a rotated text box (rotated by 90 degrees) to a
paragraph. I positioned the text box so that its top edge was in line with the
anchor indicator. Then I saved the doc (.odt). When reopening the doc the text
box had shifted up by a considerable amount. Non-rotated text boxes do not do
this.

Hmm, the files seem to be all in place. Is the symlink /etc/openoffice.org-1.9
there as well ? If so, run as run as root "update-desktop-database". Does this
fix your problem ?

For the sx? association: this baheviour is generally intended. However I would
be interested in seeing your /usr/bin/openoffice.org-1.9 file.

The changing allignment of the formulas changes the fonts
Here are the steps to reproduce the bug

0) launch OO 680_m84
1) menu file->new-> text document
2) save file as whatever name
3) menu insert->object->formula (you get the formula editor at the bottom)
4) in the editor enter a formula ... say x = x + 1 (do not exit the editor)
5) change font of variables using menu Format-> Fonts -> modify -> variables
For me default is times new roman Italic and I changed it to Arial (without
italic)
6) from menu change the alignment of the formula using menu Format -> Alignment
for me the defult alignment is centered and I changed it to Left and clicked OK
immidiately the font of the formula changes back to timesnew roman italic

Please let me know if more info is needed

[graphics-issues] [Issue 34157] Graphics Styles not modifiable after copying Slide to another Presentation

2005-03-09 Thread christian_heller
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue:

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Mar 9 23:14:09 -0800

Yes, the bug is still there. I describe it once more.
It's simple to reproduce:

1 I open some existing presentation.
2 I open a second, new presentation.
3 I add a simple text box to the new presentation and create a new
style "test_style" for that text box, e.g. with green background.
4 I save the new presentation.
5 I switch both presentations to "Slide View".
6 I copy the one slide from the new presentation to the existing
presentation.
7 I save the existing presentation.
(not necessarily needed; does not affect the bug)
8 I switch the existing presentation to "Drawing View".
9 I open the "Style Editor".
10 I look for the "test_style" that was copied together with the
slide from the new presentation to the existing presentation.
11 Now I right-click on "test_style" to open the context menu.
12 In the menu, I only see the options "New" and "Delete";
the option "Modify" is missing. == BUG??

13 The bug can be worked around by saving, closing and reopening
the existing presentation. Afterwards, "Modify" appears normally
in the context menu.

BTW: I work with Debian Testing and have version 1.1.2 of OpenOffice.

Hope this helps,
Christian

[framework-issues] [Issue 30853] Quickstart icon should include the OOo application shortcuts in the context again

@peschtra: Just to clarify things: I know that the quickstarter itself is a
good
thing that lets you start OOo applications faster. Only I don't need a
quickstarter *icon* when it doesn't give me any functionality other than "end
quickstarter" and "load on startup"
Just for these two, there should be other possibilites than using precious
space
in my quickstart tray, eg a menu option in OOo.
As I understand the directive, there should not be placed an icon at all
without
asking the user. But I didn't read the whole text, so I'm not sure.
Anyway, why should we care about MS's directives if we have a feature that is
so
well known and widely used?
I hope that this feature comes back not only in 2.x but in 2.0. Since the
feature was there already, I hope it is not much work to reimplement it.

Use the gap ~ right following the "alignl" - as often as this will match the
indent you desire. The formula code will look like:

alignl {forall e_inp , e_out : edges, forall n_1 , n_2 : nodes , exists x_1 ,
x_2 :
setR^"+"  divides {} }
newline
alignl~~~{dom dom e_inp = n_1 and dom ran e_inp = n? and {} }

...and so on.

The content of the Status Bar occasionally disappears while editing text. By
"content" I mean infos like page count, page style and so on, by "occasionally"
I mean that a) I can't connect it to any special action - I am working on the
text, I look down and it is gone - b) sometimes it takes five minutes, sometimes
ten, sometimes more. This, however, happens with every file I have been working
so far and it always happens, as long as I work longer then a few minutes.

You missed main point - this is ONE formula.
There must be SPACE in the beginning of every line except first.
And if i put "~" sign after "newline", "alignl" do not work - it shows
upsidedown question mark.

When I am creating multiple new documents (using the menu new) and I save the
document, OO starts out in the My Documents directory. It would be nice if OO
remember the last working directory and opened that directory in the view for
saving (or opening a file).

I am on WinXP, OO 2.0 RC (1.9.79). I am using the writer application; however
this is probably a generic item to all of the applications.

Chris

This is a restarting of issue # 29925 for which I somehow didn't reply to.

I have some Java code which calls the OpenOffice APIs to make it load files.
This works fine with MS-Word, Excel and other file types. However when it comes
to SYLK spreadsheet files (.slk files), it doesn't work, and OpenOffice thinks
that it is a text file.

Now, OpenOffice can open these files when a user manually selects Open File, so
I don't understand why it doesn't from Java code, when OOo detects many other
file types correctly when called from Java.

In answer to the question: "is it possible that you do not set the correct
filter for that type of document ?". I'm not sure I understand the question. I
set the convertor to be "Flat XML File (Calc)" if that is what is being asked.
Since this option successfully opens various types of spreadsheets including OOo
and MS I presume it should open SYLK too.

I created a text box control inside a table and set the control properties
to "multi-line" and "No frame". When I printed that page, the text inside the
text box is not printed. However, I can see it in Page Preview. I can also
print to PDF as text box controls including the text.

When I change the "Multi-Line" setting to "Single-Line", it will then be
printed out.

I am using OO 1.9.79 on Windows 2000 SP4.

Unselecting an image or deleting it makes the Picture Toolbar dissappear

1. View --> toolbars --> Picture (picture toolbar appears)

2a. Click on the "from file" button to insert an image (image is inserted and
automatically selected).

2b. Insert --> picture --> from file (same as 2a).

3. Click somewhere else to unselect the inserted image or delete the image: the
picture toolbar will dissappear, even when it was specifically selected to be
shown.

It's the same for Writer and Calc, I just tried it on Windows ME.

I would like to request that the 'floor' and 'Ceiling' functions be added to the
formula editor. Mathematically, these mean to round down or round up to the next
integer. In the attached file, you'll see that the Equation editor in MS has
these. They were imported from a word document, however, i dont find them in the
Formula editor. I really like formula editor and would like to see these added

Copying (ctrl-c) contents from a Writer's table (i.e. a 4x3 table) and then
paste (ctrl-v) to the spreadsheet, the first column in the spreadsheet always
occupies at least two cell (i.e. A1 and B1 are merged, in some case it will take
up to 4 horizontal cells).

I had some formulas in 1.1.4. When i opened the file in 2.0 beta, the font
looked thinner and generally deformed. I tried to make it bold to make it look
better, but it still doesnt do the job. I dont know if converting it to pdf or
printing it makes it better. But i would be less inclined to use the new version
as is or turn in work that was done using it (I'm a phd engineering student,
formulas are crucial)

Importing EPs graphics with insert -> picture -> from file will insert the
picture. The file only shows as a box with the eps information such as the
program it was created with, size, res.
There is now preview.
When printing the document, it prints a preview of the EPS (Company LOGO).
Yes, I did print to a postscript printer. Yes the file prints correctly in MS
Word. Yes, it doesn't print in OO1.1.3 either.
If you are interested in killing any feedback, just mark this issue as a

I'm attaching a document ( DOC ) that has an embedded Excel chart in it. The
chart displays correctly apart from dropping most of the labels. The only label
I get is 'Local 18%'. When opened in MS Word, all slices of the pie chart are
labeled.

Tested in OOo 2.0 Beta Candidate under Linux.

I also just tested in OOo 2.0 Beta under Windows 2000, and it behaves *slightly*
differently. The end result is the same: only one label is displayed. However
under Windows I can double-click on the chart, and it opens in Microsoft Graph (
which partly explains why I can't double-click on it under Linux ). When
Microsoft Graph opens it, it displays correctly, with all labels. When I close
Microsoft Graph, however, the display in OpenOffice remains as it was before:
only one label.

When I moved the mouse cursor over the toolbar, all button under the cursor
flickered.
I tested OO.o 2.0 beta under Linux, and these flickering GTK+-styled toolbar
buttons have
deep impact on user experience. This problem is quite annoying and didn't exist
in OO.o 1.x.
Thank you.

It opens as gibberish in Word 2003. It opens as gibberish in OO 2.0Beta

I'm willing to let it go, if this is a file format that will not be in

Unfortunately I have not done the reinstallations very systematically, but
initial install of 2.0 Beta was as following

-Download OOo_2.0beta_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
$tar xzf OOo_2.0beta_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz
$cd RPMS
$rm openoffice*suse*rpm
$sudo rpm -ihv *.rpm

-Everything seems to install without problem. However no new kde-menus are
created.

$/opt/openoffice.org1.9.79/program/simpress

-Playing around with impress. Close!

-At this point the redhat/kde-menus for 1.1.3 does no longer works. But 1.1.3
writer can be started from console and from other programs like firefox. I did
not try this earlier after installing 2.0 or later before shutting down.

-At some point during the day I did a "apt-get dist-upgrade".

$/opt/openoffice.org1.9.79/program/swriter

-Works with writer for several hours. Close. Shutdown.
-Turn on computer
-1.1.3 kde-menus still does not work.
-Konqueror; double click on .sxi document does not work.

$/opt/openoffice.org1.9.79/program/swriter
/opt/openoffice.org1.9.79/program/soffice: line 235: 902 Segmentation fault
"$sd_prog/$sd_binary" "$@"

$/opt/openoffice.org1.9.79/program/soffice
-same result!

$soffice
-same result!

$/usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.1.3/program/soffice
Segmentation fault

As root (and using sudo) both versions works.
Creating a new user and try to run the program causes the same problem as
described above.

I'm running Fedora Core 3. libc is 2.3.4-2.fc3 as mentioned above. I'm running a
custom kernel 2.6.11, except for adding nsp32 SCSI driver it has the same config
as standard 2.6.10-1.766_FC3 kernel, but without fedora patches.

OpenOffice Base is not finding the JRE on my system; however, I *do* have
Sun's JRE 1.4.1 installed. I get an error saying there is no JRE, which cycles
in an endless loop. To stop it, I have to cancel the task.

Also, the Quickstart Icon in my taskbar is com-pletely unpopulated. I am
assuming this is because Base isn't working.

Unable to complete the Report Wizard
When using the report wizard from Base, all goes well until I attempt to select
a different layout. OO then crashes without warning, removing the quickstarter
from the systray.
If I do not select a layout (other than "default") then a report is created.
Also, clicking on "Next" after the "Sort Options" screen does not move to the
layout screen. The layout screen can only be accessed by clicking on "Choose
Layout" under "Steps". I will report this as a separate issue.

As an additional note to this situation I noticed that the installion did
associate OOo files *.sxw, *.sxc with the beta version for my user account. When
I double click on an OOo file the beta version starts up instead of the older
version (1.1.4)...but there are no menu items for the beta components.

The date format is reset to default (from Australian format) for the selected
cells when they are filled using Edit->Fill->Series.
Behaviour _should_ be to work with the existing format.

Until this issue is not verified it is not integrated into the main codeline.

So no need to check the milestones until the issue is verified.

If the issue is closed, the fix will be available to the public (e.g. you can
download an installation set). Before that (only resolved or only verified) you
have to compile OOo yourself to check the fix.

I found a very annoying error, the "show drawing toolbar" button is replaced
with an other when clickin a line, rectangle, etc.
Check these pictures:
I want this button not to be replaced, so to be present anyways:
http://people.inf.elte.hu/pentek_i/doksik/Linux/bugs/OOo/oopaint1.png
Maybe the grawing toolbar needn't to be visible anyways when clicking on a line.
And this button ir replaced with this one:

Reading PowerPoint 2002 presentation results in errors in two of the converted
slides within Impress 2.0beta. In the first case text is upside-down text, and
in the second case there are shifted arrow lines. I can provide this test case.

Attached are files created from OOo1.9.79. Tab order is correct in .odt file,
not in PDF file. The correct order should be down the first column (works). Down
the second column (works). Then across each row of the table (doesn't work).

Know, though, that the form functionality does work really well other than this
and is a great benefit! Thanks!

When viewing slides as a full screen slide show in an opened Powerpoint
presentation, which in some slides used several image layers - eg a photograph
background with a graphic overlay or a graph paper background to a graph line -
the background fails to stretch to its full size so that the overall box
position for the image shows a boundary line, the overlay graphic in its right
place and then the background image in one corner of the box only.
One other image shows a map outline of Singapore with a brown coloured infill
for the shape of the island and a blue background. In slide show full screen
this appears as a larger square shaped brown patch and the island shape has
vanished - obviously an island shaped mask was used over the top of the
background colour to form the image but it is not working.
This seems slightly different to, but related to some of the image display
issues already reported.
It must be emphasised that the slides display correctly in the other, editing,
views within Impress.
If required I can send the Powerpoint presentation in question - but it is 10MB

yum is like Debian's apt-get. It can install/update/remove packages it has
installed. I used it to remove the earlier Oo installation. I'm not sure how to
answer the question "Do you have the same problem when using OOo as regular
user?" as the error appeared during installation, not during use. If you want me
to re-install it as a regular user, I'll be happy to do so, if you'll tell me
exactly how you wish me to proceed to make it clearest for you. Just let me
know.

Some more investigation, on the first open the format is:

0,00_ ;[RED]-0,00\,

on second (file saved as opendocument format)

0,00 ;[RED]-0,00,

so there is missing \ and undescore is lost. Problem is on the first import,
there is no need for spaces and backslashes in format code. It is broken
probably inside of ooo_SRC680_m85_src/sc/source/filter/excel/xestyle.cxx but I
don't see why.

When both docked at either the side of the document, one atop the other, the
heights of the "Navigator" and "Styles & Formatting" boxes are not remembered
when OpenOffice.org is closed and re-opened. (The docking positions are
remembered but not the heights.)

Dan->TV: I confirm, that the preselection is fixed and wizards are working
corectly.

Becouse there is probably not (yet) the problem with wasting disc space by
inserting czech templates into all supported languges, I can close this.

Thank for cooperation.

I find a useful, timesaving feature of Excel's Fill commands does not work under
Calc. Under Excel, invoking a Fill command (i.e. Fill Down, Fill Right etc.)
copies content from an adjascent cell without needing the source cell to be
selected. Under Calc, it is necessary to select the source cell.

I use this feature a lot, and this deficiency (combined with the lack of
compatible shortcut keys - see my issue 44647) makes for typing lists of data
with repeating items much slower.

That's what I suspected.

>Note that the diagram looked right in excel 97 (in which I created it)
>so do you think the selection of the extraneous column was actually
>caused by an import error?

The 5 extra lines were not created by OOo. They appear in the ExcelViewer as
well.
However the diagram in OOo interprets the (indeed strange) data selection ranges
wronly. I could reproduce this with a test chart.

What to do now?
1.) I will close this issue. The original speed problem is obviously not a
problem of OOo. The issue of long rendering time for diagrams is already known,
so there's no need for us to pursue this further.

2.) Concerning the import problem mentioned above: I opened a new issue for
this: issue 44648 if you care.

3.) Regarding the crash:
 a) Check if you can reproduce it. If you can:
 b) Check it's not already reported (a duplicate). If not yet reported:
 c) Create a separate issue for it and attach the doc to it if necessary.

Thanks a lot.

If a chart is created from a selection that encompasses some selected columns
plus one or more selected lines it interpretes this selection in a completly
unpredictable way (from my point of view). See the attached spreadsheet.

Such a selection is admittedly improbably, yet the result should be as one would
predict it, that is, for a "data in columns" diagram:
To have 8 diagram lines in the legend: Columns A,B, D,E,F,G,H, the latter 5
having just one data point.

This happens with OOo1.1.4 as well as with OOo2.0beta+WinXP (and probably other
OS.)

Closed Issue 43009 (Fill Down/Right Shortcut Keys) reported that 1) Calc's
default keymap does not honour the Fill Down and Right shortcut keys (Control-D
and Control-R) found under Excel, thereby introducing a source of confusion for
new users and 2) the terms 'Down', 'Right' etc. found in the Edit category of
keyboard customization dialog are confusing and would be better called 'Fill
Down' etc.

I agree with both the original reporter's points and note that Frank who closed
the issue did not read the issue carefully, as his closing comment is "you can
do the very same things with OOo1.9.x", doesn't repond to either point.

The issue should be reopened, or perhaps as two new issues (1) about an
unnecessary Windows incompatibility and (2) about unclear labelling.

Peter refers to my example wrongly. My example is 2004-04-29 format type.
Just checked 2.0 Beta obtained from Openoffice.org(shows as Staroffice 8 Beta).
Behaviour is the same as described in the problem description.

In Short:
If I format cells to use -MM-dd format then this format should be used and
displayed consistently and always. Both in the cell, even when double clicked,
as well as in the input line.
I hope this bug can still make 2.0 release
Trying to change a date when one format is displayed, but then another when
trying to edit the cell is very trying.
