I'm currently working on a big SQL database connecting to it through ODBC. I
have to edit and append lots of records. One quick way to do this is to copy a
range of cells to a spreadsheet program, edit them, and append the data to the
database. This works nice and easy in MS Access and Excel. I tried to copy this
approach and couldn't find a way to copy and paste the data back into the
datatable again. I don't think, that it should be necessary to write a macro or
anything alike to perform such a basic task.

So could you please add copy-and-paste from Calc to Base?

Create a new database in OOo. Click the create view in database window. It
opens a window with Add tables dialog. IMHO, 'Create view' should be disabled
if the db is 'purely new' with no tables/data to connect with.

When formatting a list with bullets, we normally just select the list and click
the Bullets On/Off button on the toolbar. When doing so, the list looked
formatted but without the bullets. To put bullets we have to go to menu Format
and Bullets & Numbering and select the bullets from there. And at the Bullets &
Numbering window/box that came out, the first Bullets style selection is blank,
without bullets.

[framework-issues] [Issue 47127] [docking]-Navigator window goes on hiding and crashing OOo frequently

I come to know that Stylist and Navigator windows allow full screen resizing,
which is not desirable. Also while resizing these [if they are docked] the
visible part of the document/page should also adjust the zooming value so as to
keep the whole page visible within the available space. Finally, limit the size
of the Stylist and Navigator windows to some maximum [30% of screen space used
by the OOo main window].

About docking, allow easy docking [only on right and left sides, preferably]
like the toolbars and Ctrl + drag to prevent docking while moving to the 'hot

the issue is fixed. You can now select in the db app (OOo 2.0) under the menu
"Edit->Database->Special Settings" that ASC should not be used for index
creation.

Develop a 2 page document using Word processor m87 and later tried to open it
using m91 and m93. Neither of the last two released were able to properly open
the document. When opening the document, it only displays one image in 1st page
and the 2nd page fully displays but not 100% the same as original.

Document included the following:
1st Page:
- Blue background color (full page)
- Page borders were 0.20"
- 3 column top section with 2 images (at each side)
- 2 column 2nd section with an image at left and text on the right side. Left
side is bigger than right.
- 2 column with a table and bullet text on the left and 3 images on the right.
Left side is wider than right

2nd Page:
- No background color
- 2 column (equal size) top section with 2 images on the left and a table (with
bullets) / 3rd picture on the right.
- 3 column section about 3/4 down with 2 images (one on each side) and URL links
in the middle.
- A normal section with a small image in the right side.
- Another 3 column section with different sizes and small text.

Original document can be submitted upon request.

After importing a PowerPoint presentation under FreeBSD with 1.1.3, I found
that the notes view did not work for viewing or printing. The top half of the
page or view shows nothing (well, possibly a few dark pixels at the left
edge). I tried starting from a new presentation, and the notes worked, so I
copied a slide from the problem presentation into a new presentation (now using
1.1.4 on Win98SE), but the problem followed along. The sample presentation in
the associated URL demonstrates the problem.

Any suggestions? My settings are set to A3 and landscape.

sparcmoz-->pjanik: my patches are only intended to describe the problem, they
are not the solution. By m94 there have been further changes to epmfile.pm so
that although success is reported for rpm there are only SPEC files produced. It
also wrongly reports that epm is not patched. But now deb builds ok again. From
a quick look it appears that the recent changes will make it easier to patch
now.

When I save a file on my local computer (opening it across the network doesn't
work), and then transfer it back onto the network, the style sheet is destroyed.
Sometimes it will only kill the style sheet, but other times it will make the
file unopenable. This happens on whether it is on a mapped network drive (on
Windows XP) or \\server_name\dir\subdir\whatever.

I tried M93 build on a chroot'ed Ubuntu Hoary AMD64 box. Works without a crash
- Can import DOCs and PPTs, significantly complex ones too. This environment
is not actually same as the one for which the bug was reported (although the
machine is same) and I no longer use the original environment. Ok to close as
not reproducible with M93.

BTW - OO2.0 M93 works superbly - It boots up as fast as MSO. Great piece of
work.

Cheers

Hi,

i found a problem with tables in draw.
Insert more then one table with Insert->Table - I think OLE-Object.
Edit them so that they have different contents.
Save the document.
Reload the document.

Result: All tables are now the same. The size is from the old tables, if it was
diffrent, but the content is always from the first inserted table.

Hope I could help you
  Regards
  Peter

I'm getting this problem too. It's really annoying, pls fix it. It really
interferes with writing since it sometimes blanks out the text too.

If this is a duplicate pls post the issue number to refer me to it. I would
vote for this issue ... should I ? or is it a duplicate ?

I have found a problem with the OOO680m93 Writer while opening a .sxw file
previously edited in OOo1.1.4. The file opens correctly, and will display
page one for about 10 seconds. The writer then crashes with a message
box "C:\...\soffice.bin", "R6025", "-Pure Virtual Function Call". The
document then tries to recover.
The .sxw file is 4Mb in size and contains mixtures of text, graphics, large
tables, etc. The file contains information sensitive to my company, and while
I can't uploade it here, I'll be happy to send it to a developer for purposes
of solving this bug.

Create a new document, and type abot a page worth of data.

Place a image, I did mine from office-draw, and anchored image to next page. The
image took up thee entire page.

I then added a table at the end of page one 4 columns wide and two rows long.

The table was placed on the last line of the second page and the cells would not
display.

I could not place the table on page two without deleting the table first.

Further if I went up a line or two and manually put a page break in
(), the table stayed in the same place.

I will attempt to attach the document for your inspection.

cheers
dn

Now after installing OO.o 1.9.94 german version the mistake has changed his
character. Now there is a new Message from WIN before OO.O crashes (quote in
german): Die Anweisung in "0x611b6d45" verweist auf Speicher in "0x".
Der Vorgang "read" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgefÃhrt werden. Klicken
Sie auf OK, um das Programm zu beenden.
Something has changed from 93 to 94, but what is it and why does noone have
the same Problems while I have them on both computers: desktop & labtop?
Greetings Tom

"viranaso" is Donald Rogers, who has submitted a JCA and has had write access to
our CVS tree for a few months now, with which he's been doing a fine job of
improving the website of our subdomain eo.ooo.org. I'm assuming he's the "Donald
Evan Rogers" listed on http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=35255
but I'll ask him by copy of this message to confirm this.

Donald: would you also be able to look into Eike's other queries too please?
Thanks in advance.

1. Go to customize the drawing toolbar.
2. Go to category Drawing.
3. Select the rectangles toolbar, that is the rectangle with the helptext 'Using
Customize Toolbar, you can add the Rectangle toolbar.'
4. Add it and close the dialog.

Now there is a rectangle with a little triangle in the drawing toolbar, but it
does nothing. If you add the Ellipses toolbar or the Text toolbar the same way,
they work fine.

In 1.9.90.1cs (as well as older version) I get a weird behavior on attempt to
remove the last item in versions dialog:

 - if there has been only one version, it remains there and with every attempt
to remove it window title is extended by the titles original value (repeats
itself).
 - if there have been more version, all the previously deleted ones reappear.

The only way to get rid of all version from a file seems to be using "Save
As..." and saving under another filename.

This bug(?) actually doesn't seem to be only word processor specific.

With the package size and all conversion work RPM format means to me I was not
able to test and confirm this on many version, different languages. Someone else
may might be able to.

The two most commonly used marketing publications are the Product Flyer and the
Product Specification.

The Product Flyer is a sheet of A3 printed double sided landscape and folded
down the middle. That gives a 4 page A4 sized booklet. The Flyer is a selling
tool, lots of pictures, features and benefits, brand values.

The Product Specification is a sheet of A4 printed double sided portrait. The
Spec lists in some detail what OpenOffice.org actually is, and what's new in
2.0. The Spec can either be used by itself, or as an insert within the Flyer.

This task has been created to hold work in progress copies of the Product
Flyer for Version 2.0

[Reassigning issue to iano]

I'd like to be more helpful; how can I find the KeyId of a given string?

Anyway, here's the full text to change (the string you mention can stay as it
is):

English:
1. View the complete License Agreement. Please use the scrollbar or the 'Scroll
Down' button in this dialog to view the entire license text.

Italian (current):
1. Leggete interamente il contratto di licenza. Per visualizzare il testo
completo, usate la barra di scorrimento o il pulsante 'Scorrimento in avanti' in

The two files in question are modified from the original file created by Taneem
Ahmed. We are trying to trace him down. In this case, do all three of us (viz,
Taneem, myself (Sayamindu Dasgupta, responsible for the bn_IN.xml) and Jamil
Ahmed (itsjamil - responsible for bn_BD.xml)) have to sign the JCA ?

Is there any way that a *different* keyboard shortcut could be used for line
spacing? I wouldn't mind the shortcut being different from MS Word's, as long
as *some* keyboard shortcut for line spacing existed by default.

Ctrl+Shift+numbers are still unused; perhaps Ctrl+Shift+1, Ctrl+Shift+2 and
Ctrl+Shift+5 could be made the shortcuts for single, double, and 1.5 line
spacing.

I have now confirmed this defect on several different PCs and OO installations.

I repeat that this defect prevents OO being used for Word documents that use the
standard A, B, C... numbering scheme for Appendices (which is most large
reports).

The small Word file attached to the Issue report clearly demonstrats how A.B.C
auto-numbering is mysteriously converted to 1.2.3 numbering in OO.

R.

When I want to mark all text in a Textdocument which has a
"Index/Table"(Inhaltsverzeichnis) this does not work. Nothing is marked and the
"Leiste" is where you can set font, size, colour and so on is deactivated. I am
using the OO2-Preview provided on http://klik.atekon.de/

I can provide a testfile privately, if this bug is not reproducable

BTW: The usability of your bugzilla really, really sucks. I am constantly
reporting bugs to KDE-Applikations, since their bugzilla is relatively easy to
use . If have an issue on oo I often do not report because the whole procedure
is more complicated and takes a lot of time.

Well, upon installing 1.1.4 from your web-site the original issue seems to
have disappeared. I must presume that it was, in fact, some issue regarding
Java. I am not show-stopped any more.

How-ever... even though an upgrade has "made my problem go away" in the sense
that I can continue working now, I submit that the basic problem still needs
to be checked. Namely: a function should always either "work," or it should
"not work" and in that case it should produce a message saying that it did not
work and why, and what to do about it.

My speculation is that "Java runtime wasn't installed, or OpenOffice did not
know about it." Or maybe it looked in the wrong place or what-have-you.
Anyhow, something didn't happen as it should have and "in that case OO didn't
produce any message." That code-path, even though it is a failure-path, still
needs to be checked and a useful response always generated.

Thanks for listening.

When my version 1.9.93 setup.exe is executed from the drive c:\oo, everything
works fine.

The first few times I tried to install 1.9.93, however, I tried from a "subst"
drive, named T:, which is substituted in my system to physical directory c:\zt
using:

  subst t: c:\zt

Running with my current directory as t:\oo, I went through all of the dialogues
and everything appeared to be going fine until the last button to actually do
the installation and I was instantly presented with the dialogue "The wizard
was interrupted before OpenOffice.org 1.9.93 could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time,
please run the installation again." There were no messages or no reasons
reported for why it thought it was being interrupted, and I hadn't pressed
anything.

This happened three times until I thought to move the directory to c:\oo and
try again. The installation worked the first time from there without any
errors.

I hope you find this helpful.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . Ken

hi
i have a similar problem:
-OS: Win XP, english (en_UK) environment
-OOo1.1.2: slovenian build (sl_SI)

problem: when pasting data from calc spreadsheet, all special characters (those
with diacritic marks) are turned into '?'

pretty annoying, so i voted for it.
thanks

hello

The "Enhanced number recognition" of 2.0 is something i am very happy about.
It would be nice to have a second step in this direction by "pressing" the
input to a alredy assigned cell-format. That is the format of the visible
output - not that of the internal-format (see time-example below)

a) every non-digit of the input is replaced with a char of the
format-code that is not a placeholder for a digit in order:
format-code date "DD.MM." + input "18,04,05" -> "18.04.2005"
format-code date "MM/DD/" + input "04,18,05" -> "04/18/2005"

b) append the next char of the format-code that is not a placeholder
for a digit to the input:
format-code time "HH:MM" + input "10" -> "10:00" [1]
format-code date "DD.MM." + input "18,04" -> "18.04.2005"

gerhard

[1] now (in ooo2.0) the input is taken as the value of the "internal"
format, so that a input of "10" results in a visible cell-content of
"00:00" (in the input-area at the top "240:00:00" is shown).
format-code time "[HH]:MM" + input "1.5" results in "36:00" instead of "01:50"

I just installed OO 1.9.93 an can again reproduce the error.

One possible explanation that sb has not been able to reproduce this error is
that either I made a typo in the BASIC routine, or the size of the start page
of www.yahoo.com has changed.

Please change
"call ReadNBytesFromYahoo(3)"
to
"call ReadNBytesFromYahoo(30)"

and try again ...

Yes, you can make single MSI files, but I don't know how. Maybe it is hidden
somewhere in this documentation:

invalid. The Oasis format is (slightly) different form the old format. OOo 1.1.4
is older than the new one, so it cannot know about it.

OOo 1.1.5 will be able to open the new fileformat - in the meantime save in the
"old" format using Save as...

could you please reconsider the target milestone? If most of the wizards produce
wrong documents for localized versions, this would be a stopper to me.

If there is a way to speed things up and I (or germanophone / native lang
projects) could help, pleas tell us.

Don't see any "bal" nor \"bal\" , but the en-US strings contains a 'next'

So I guess the ' " ' char is not escaped

You might be onto something about multi-threading. The machine is a quad-3Ghz
server. I disabled hyper-threading (which makes the machine obviously look like
an 8way to Linux) and it still failed. This time however, I did get it to
physically crash and report some information. Turning off hyper-threading was
the first time I got output on the command line in this manner. I'm can't say
for sure 100% this is the difference, but just reporting what I'm seeing. I'll
attach the text that appeared on the command line when I attempted to access the
GNOME file chooser.

Yes, that older M79 build worked ok. I could select files and saw no crashes.
Also, older builds from Sun worked OK as I mentioned above. They changed
something in the last 2-3 milestones that caused this failure.

If they are holding fixes for NLD until 2.0.1, we probably will just revert OOo
back to the regular file manager which seems to work much better in these later
milestones.

Attaching output that went to the command line.
