MRU->SJ: the graphic lower on first page does not have any content. Saving a new
version of this document with Word2003 will make the import good in OO.

When I resize a graphic, I usually don't want the aspect ratio to change. In
Word I can drag the corner and the size changes but shape remains fixed. If I
want to change the aspect ratio, I drag the middle of a side.

Open Office Writer doesn't lock the aspect ratio when I drag the corner.

It is not a communication problem from my part... I already realized that you
cannot display the characters when Arial is used.

But some remarks first:
* You're not using 2.0 beta but 1.1.2 -> correcting version
* You're using a modified version of OOo (modified by your distributor) - it may
behave differently than the original
* You're using RedHat/Fedora that is known to have few high-quality fonts by
default.

> How did you manage to open the document with text visible?

Simple: I have fonts installed that contains hebrew and are common enough so OOo
knows them as replacement (glyph-fallback). In fact, I have Arial installed.
(Real Arial, not a faked one that claims it is Arial).

But as mentioned before: You can use Font-Replacement (and not the
"baisc-fonts"-setting) to use another font than Arial.

When trying to activate objects with Math Type 5 the error message "General OLE
error" will now be displayed again.

If the user has MathType 5 installed the OLE server should invoke that.
However since no one has that product here our QA can not test that case.

yes, it's triggered by "hidsforall". it accidently enables *.hid generation for
all platforms but win/tcsh :-(

while no having TMP/TEMP set seems to be an issue of it's own, the acual build
problem should be workaroundable by setting

NO_HIDS=TRUE

could anyone confirm this with a "pure OOo" environment while i'm looking into a
real fix?

The culmus-package indeed contains a David Font, but it is called "David CLM"
and OOo doesn't know it as a replacement for "David" - one has to assign it
manually.

Furthermore It looks very different than in the screenshot. The David CLM is a
italic-style font.

If the font has the same design as "original" David, then it is clear that the
font is not installed and this issue probably is a worksforme.

export NO_HIDC=TRUE

-o is used to name the linked binary. the according switch is defined in
"solenv/bin/mhids.pl" in the sub "setcompiler". there simply isn't a blank
because it worked fine without. should be no problem to insert one.

> This can easily be achieved by "touch desktop/share/content-sniffer" [..]

I am not sure I am with you here: are you proposing to add a sample of each file
type and sniff for the magic signature ?

> This is on purpose, it is easier to parse, I don't need the hard-coded
> translatin from impress to presentation, from math to formula, etc..

Isn't this mapping more related to the fact that the mime-types are needed as
anchor to know where to insert the translations but to parsing a merged
documents.ulf ?

Also: your script relies on internals of the translation process here: as long
as you don't have a "contract" with the l10n framework maintainers, the
structure of sdf files is subject to chance without notice.

> And: Please don't add hacks to fix broken translations. Step on the
> translators' toes, update localize.sdf, replace the string with
> "BROKEN TRANSLATION" whatever. But don't fix broken stuff so that it is
> not recognized.

Good catch ! Actually this code is also in translate.pl and was intended for
beta only (the name change "Open Office -> OpenDocument" came on pretty short
notice). I should have removed it instead of copying without thinking.

Depending on how fast we agree on a long term goal, we might need a different
issue for this to fix it as soon as possible.

So my approach on this would be:

a) make the shared-mime-info file the source for all mime-type handling (this
will require some icon renaming) and

b) get the shared-mime-info format directly supported by our l10n framework
(obsoleting documents.ulf)

c) copy the existing translation database to their new keys (will need help von
Ivo & Ause for this)

However I am not sure if this should done for OOo 2.0. I could also live with
following your suggestion for OOo 2.0.x and implement the other solution on a
CWS targeted for OOo Next.

What do you think ?

As stated in issue #44567# when the chinese conversion was already applied the
documents language (if there is such a thing in the specific application) should
be set to the target language.

Also every character entered anywhere in the document after the conversion
should per default already have the target CJK language from the conversion set!

In order to achieve this you probably have to hard set the correct CJK language
attribute on any empty paragraph(!) or white-spaced text and any Western or CTL
text.
Generally speaking for any text with script type different from
i18n::ScriptTyp::ASIAN. This especially includes i18n::ScriptType::WEAK (which
may be used for punctuation). The CJK language attribute should be changed to
the target language of the conversion.

Note: If available styles should never be changed because of this.

As an odd example: Japanese formatted latin scripted text will also get the new
language attribute set.

For text with script type i18n::ScriptType::ASIAN the CJK language attribute
should be left unchanged, since it has either already been changed by the
conversion (if desired) or is assumed to be set to the correct CJK language for
that text.

In CWS tl12 I've already done this for sw and svx.

The respective changes in the specification should have already be done by FT.

ok - so yes, this change is risky - I've just come across a failure caused by
this change ;-) the problem is that this sequence
(filter/source/xsltfilter/XSLTFilter.cxx) now behaves differently:

Thread 1:
m_cTransformed = osl_createCondition();
osl_waitCondition(m_cTransformed, 0);
Thread 2:
osl_resetCondition(m_cTransformed);

Previously the osl_resetCondition would not wake the osl_waitCondition - with my
change it does. However - quite why the osl_resetCondition is doing an
unconditional broadcast is beyond me; just reading through the equivalent Win32
docs. on ResetEvent :-)

Please make sure the vertical alignment can also be set. All that has to be

ab: I'm responsible for the Basic core in OOo / StarOffice and I
just want to clarify some things.

aijo, you're right: The password feature is only intended to protect
the source code from beeing read and modified. Of course it must be
possible to run the macros anyway. Everything else wouldn't make much
sense, because why should anyone give away these macros at all then?
It would be much easier to just keep them on the local disk to pro-
tect them from anyone.

So your scenario is exacly what this feature is ment for and it's a
bug that the macros cannot be run. But probably it's only a problem
of the user interface. The compiled code IS stored and it can be exe-
cuted, if one manages to start it... ;-)

Maybe it helps you to have some work arounds: You e.g. can integrate
a small starter macro in the document's not protected Standard library.
This macro can load the protected library by API and then can call any
sub inside without knowing the password, e.g.:

Sub NotProtectedStarterSub
   BasicLibraries.loadLibrary( "ProtectedLibrary" )
   MySecretSub()   ' Call into ProtectedLibrary
End Sub

You can also assign a sub inside the protected library to a control
located in the document, e.g. to a button's "When initiating" event.
When the user clicks on the button the protected library will be
loaded automatically and the sub will be executed.

tbe just made some tests and found that this can only be done before
the library is protected. Afterwards - even if the correct password
is entered - a macro inside the protected library cannot be assigned
any more. We consider this to be part of this bug and it has to be
fixed in any case.

But anyway with knowing all this it should be possible for now to
work around the problem. I hope this helps you.

Andreas

When one clicks on File, at the bottom of the list there is a list of the most
recent files that one has used. I find that (as happens sometimes) if the
computer rebooted spontaneously the last file I was working on does not appear
on that list, although I can open it from my document directory. Of course
that's exactly the one I need to open.

Would it be worth considering a change so that the filename is added earlier to
the "most recent files" list?

You describe several bugs which are all fixed in the meantime.
To create a bulleted text which appear line by line please do the following in
the latest version (OOo 1.9.109):
- start an Impress
- assign a title text layout
- write some paragraphs of text
- select all texts (only the texts not the textbox)
- change to the custom animation task pane
- assign the appear effect
- choose Start 'on click'

issue 12600 and issue 40952 are different problems which have not a lot to do
(but the keyword "quotes") with this issue. Also your report shows different
problems

2. maybe a amall design problem: there is no check box for while typing because
this option is defined in the tab page "custom quotes".

3. see above

4. the help says:
"Replace Custom Styles

Replaces the custom paragraph styles in the current document with the "Default",
the "Text Body", or the "Text Body Indent" paragraph style."

Please check that your document uses those styles where you expect the
replacement to work.
Feel free to reopen if this does not answeres problem nr 4.

Concerning the "missing" check box in the options, please file an enhancement.

You misunderstood my meaning.
I was not refering to the "Styles" window. I was refering to the "tidying up" we
usually need to do when completing a document. Tweaking the characters of a word
or sentence's characteristics e.g. size, style (bold or italic, say), font
effects, spacing, etc. or adjusting paragraphs' spacing, etc. and likewise for
bullets.
As it is each part of the document we wish to adjust has to be done individually
with the window closing each time, whereas it would be far more efficient if
there was an "apply" button in the window and it was then possible to select the
next section of text to adjust without closing the window.
At present it is not possble to change the text currently (when the window was
opened) selected without first closing the window.
Lotus SmartSuite, years ago, had this functionallity as does CorelDraw to name
just two examples where this sort of editing is possible.

I'm not certain as to the meaning of "non modal" but it has the right ring to
it, so I will say a provisional "yes" to your interpretation and full "yes" to

JFO:
Problem was due to location of source files during setup.

I tested within a VMWare environment, and posted OOo sources on one of the host
disks, then accessed them through the "shared disk" functionality of VMware
(which provides access to specific directories on the host from within the
virtualized guest OS).

Note that I successfully installed other applications from the VMware shared
disk location, only OOo setup failed so far --> maybe a dependency on "Windows
drive letters" within the OOo setup code?

Anyway this problem is simply solved putting source files on a local disk.

Jacques

TBE->AB: The Run/OK button in the script selector is disabled, because the
method
browse node returns a script URL of lenght 0. In the BasicMethodNodeImpl CTOR
(scripting/source/basprov/basmethnode.cxx) the call SbMethod::GetModule()
returns
NULL. A possible hack in the BasicMethodNodeImpl CTOR would be to use

SbModule* pModule = static_cast< SbModule* >( m_pMethod->GetParent() );

instead of

SbModule* pModule = m_pMethod->GetModule();

As this is only a hack, I propose to fix the bug in SbMethod::GetModule().

MRU->FLR: unfortunately the problem does not occur anymore when saving a new
version of this file with WW 2003, so I cannot cut it down.
When I open the file, the problem zone is on page 71. In aspect 3, there is a
Word "irtika" where the Redlining information is interpreted differently in Word
and Writer (opened in WW, it is on page 72).

I've been tracking thsi issue for a while. basically, the bug isnt present in
1.1.4.
Prior to build 1.9.54 equations with LOG also assumed LOG10 and didnt give an
error. But ever since, passing 'LOG' in an equation will result in an error as
mentioned above. Editing to LOG10 solves the problem but is a monumental task to
do on many files retrospectively.
I am particularly keen to get thsi fixed, as its a real showstopper for our
company to migrate fully to OO.

Can I add that I personally believe that this should be a bug report rather than
a 'enhancement'.

We have approx 100 xls files that give major errors due to this problem.
Importing MS xls files where Ms has defaulted to LOG rather than LOG10 will give
thsi error each time.

Also the error message 'Err:511' isn't particularly user friendly.

Please help !

Tried to copy and paste a block of text and jpg pics from the following web
page:

http://montgomerysoftware.com/SettingUpActiveDirectoryLDAPAsAddressBook.aspx

When I pasted it into OO version 1.9.109, the text was fine but the pics were
just empty boxes which contained only the picture
path "images/SetupActiveDirectory1.jpg"

I think the problem has something to do with the path which is insufficient.

When I tried the same type of copy and paste at the following web page, it was
fine:

- copy the attached "address.odb" to your disc
- Tools|Options|OpenOffice.org Base|Databases:
  - register the address.odb under an arbitrary name, e.g. "address"
- open a new text document
- Tools|Mail Merge Wizard
=> the mail merge wizard opens
- "Next", "Next" (using presets)
- "Select Different Address List"
- in the "Select Address List" dialog, select the registered address database,
  double click it, press OK
- "Next", "Next", "Next", "Next", "Next" (using presets)
- select "Save merged document"
- press "Save documents", in the "Save as" dialog enter an arbitrary
location/name
- press Finish
- close all documents which are still open, but *not* OOo as a whole
=> in the location where your address.odb resides, there exists a file called
"address.lck". This indicates that the database document was not released
properly, but is being held by OpenOffice.org.
On Windows, you can for instance verify this by trying to rename the
address.odb to something else => Windows will tell you that the file is in
   use.

Hello,
I was happy when I found that post, having the same pb. So I did apply what "os"
said, and now I am waiting since 1/2 hour looking at open office using 100 % of
my cpu for nothing. My text is 87 pages, 28.000 kbytes text, and I would like
the first page being numbered 118 ... And I look at my hd led flashing and
flashin, is it a bug or is it normal ?

Thanks anyway.
