Unfortunately I can't install OOo 2.0.1 right now as openoffice.org
(understandably) doesn't provide packages for Ubuntu Linux (Badgy Breezer). I am
using OpenWriter 1.9.129.

Nautilus is the file manager for GNOME, a Linux Desktop Environment.

When I open the file in OOo using File/Open only one RecentItem entry gets
written to ~/.recently-used:

file:///home/jdv/Desktop/Vertalingen%20van%20Im%20Dienste%20des%20medizinischen%20Fortschritts%20(Hans%20Jonas)/18.%20Versuche%20an%20Patienten%20m%C3%BCssen%20sich%20auf%20eigenes%20Leiden%20beziehen%20&%2019.%20Schlu%C3%9Fbemerkung.odt
application/octet-stream
1136067190

openoffice.org
staroffice
starsuite

Contrary to what I had expected, though, this also disables the Locations/Recent
Documents menu. This falsifies my previous hypothesis that this menu was
disabled because two RecentItems were written for the same file. So perhaps this
is a GNOME bug.

I'll think about this and may file a bug about this on bugzilla.gnome.org
tomorrow (in which case I'll update this bug accordingly)...

where doesn't it wrap? in the insert note menu or the note itself in Writer? In
the first case this is intended; press return to begin a new line. In the
second
case the text is wrapped.

This issue, and that which it depends on (21280) both still have the Target
milestone OOo Later.

This was done in 2004, a long time ago now.

As Andree points out, this is a frustration when migrating from Excel to OOo.

Also, the steps outlined by dancer are not what is needed, rather drag and
drop/INSERT by using the Shift key, NOT cut and paste/insert.

Can this issue be reviewed so that a definite Target milestone is set?

Could you please attach a short test file (.DBF) that uses the CP737 encoding?
This would help to test any solutions.

If you can create such a DBF file now, it would be good to add fields with the
Greek alphabet in capitals, so that it helps non-Greek developers.

Thank you!

1. Create a new Calc document.
2. Format -> Cells, Numbers, Time.
3. The example for format code [HH].MM.SS is 876613.37.46
4. It is rendered as 29629.37.46

As [HH] seems to overwrap at 65535, the example should have an hour field in the
range 25...65535 in order to be understandable.

An example that produces a different result when typed into a cell is definitely
wrong.

What kind of needmoreinfo is needed. The dictionaries are _NOT_ migrated on an
upgrade. To my mind this is unexpected and requires re-installation of the
needed dictionaries. This will likely confuse users.

[sw-issues] [Issue 8449] Mixed Landscape and Portra it docs difficult to manage in master doc

2005-12-31 Thread ftack
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=8449

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Dec 31 06:34:22 -0800

sba, the procedure you describe to change page layout in a subdoc does not seem
to work anymore in Writer 2.01! Page breaks with change in page style are
ignored in the master doc. Page breaks without change in page style are not
ignored.

To reproduce the issue

* Create a new master doc
* Create a page style Landscape, set orientation to landscape
* Save the master doc as "master.odm"
* Create a new document
* Create a page style Landscape, set orientation to landscape
* Type "Portrait page"
* Insert - Manual Break - with change in page style: landscape (alternatively:
Format Paragraph - text flow tab)
* Type "Landscape page: manual break with change in page style"
* Insert break without change in page style (Ctrl+Enter)
* Type "After page break without change in page style"
* Save the doc as "test.odt"
* Now insert the doc into the master document.

The sentence "Landscape page" just appears on a new line: the page break with
change in page style has been ignored, yet the Landscape page style does exist
in the Master doc as well. The manual page break without change in page style is
not ignored.

Therefore, it has become inpossible to mix different page styles in a single
subdocument (except from changing the page style through paragraph styles, but
then we may need to apply a different paragraph style with the sole purpose of
changing a page style, which doesn't sound right).

OObase (and ANY other database connectivity layer I know of) lacks support for
the "CP737" character set (DOS/OS2 codepage for Greek) which is needed to read
legacy greek .DBF (dBase/Clipper/xBase) databases. CP737 is still wildly in use
(due to millions of DOS apps still out there).
Searching through the source tree I found IBM's ICU which contains CP737
mappings to Unicode, but I couldn't locate what to fiddle to get things working.

Merry christmas and a happy new year!

When you include a form for recording minutes in an agenda, the minutes can be
computed incorrectly.

Steps to reproduce:
1. File -> Wizards -> Agenda
2. Page Design: Modern, and include form for recording minutes
3. General information: Date today, time 15.00
4. Accept defaults until step 5 ("Agenda Items")
5. Item 1: Name "First", Responsible "Person1", Duration 50 minutes.
6. Item 2: Name "Second", Responsible "Person2", Duration 50 minutes.
7. Save the template and open it.

Expected:
Minutes contain "15.00-15.50" for First and "15.50-16.40" for Second.

Actual:
Minutes contain "15.00-15.50" for First and "15.50-16.00" for Second.

The minutes computation for the latter topic is thus wrong.

We have a big image loss problem. My current version is "2.0.1 RC5 German
version WIN XP: [680m1(Build8990)]", I saw that problem in all versions starting
with 1.1.4 (for earlier ones I do not remember, but I believe, the problem
existed there, too).

I have a System for technical documentation with lots of images in a subfolder,
those images are used in the documentation document. From time to time I see the
effect that lots of images in the document are lost, pls. see attached
screenshot.

Unfortunately this is not reproducible, sometimes I do not see that problem for
days, sometimes with every document version.

I can contribute some documents to compare "before loss / after loss",
unfortunately the contents should not be bublished, so that I would prefer to
send the "testkit" directly to a developer.

I just have seen that Calc already has such an option in the context menu for
pictures, like draw. So the here requested fuction is available.

So I think this issue can be closed and could perhaps be replaced by a framework
issue to unify this for all OOo applications (either button or context item or
both in all aplications).

Hi.

- Please open the attached document.

- Place the cursor somewhere in words "Text" (but not in the table on the top)

- press CTRL+a: The table content is selected instead of the whole document.

If a new paragraph is inserted before the table, CTRL+a correctly selects the
whole document.

Found on:
StarOffice 8 Linux
StarOffice 8 Windows
OOo 1.1.5 Windows

In the KDE address book driver, all field names ("First name", "Counrty", etc)
are translated into national language (in German : "Vorname", "Land", etc).
That's due to the underlying KDE libraries.

But table name is still "KDE address book". That's not consistent.

Use the translation provided by the KDE library ("Adressbuch" in German, for
example).

Update: I have checked the scroll wheel navigation in OOo 2.0.0 Writer on both
the Gnome and KDE desktops (Debian 3.1 Sarge) as well as Windows XP. Under
Windows XP if the mouse wheel is set to scroll by one line this behavior is
achieved in Writer. For KDE and Gnome scrolling by the mouse wheel results in
movement of approximately 6 lines per incremental movement of the mouse wheel.
KDE and Gnome mouse wheel setting appear to be ignored; no setting for this
appears available in OOo. Changing OOo Writer to use the Linux desktop setting
or offering a config option in OOo for mouse wheel scrolling would be a nice
refinement.

Sure, will do.

I suppose I need a new CWS for that? Simply committing into HEAD is not
allowed, I suppose...

Or do you have an open CWS at hand for that?

Okay, perharps the new feture remain in the KDE repository a long time before
being released in a stable version. I don't know. In any case,
KAddressBook::allAddressees() appears first in KDE 3.2, released in february
2004.

I could rewrite the address book driver to get rid of this dependancy, but
since the symbol has appeared almost two years ago, and since two years is
like a decade in computer history time, I propose we do a configure test
against KDE 3.2 instead.

Perharps there are other hidden dependancies towards a minimal KDE version:
KDE 3.2 seems to be a good choice to minimize the probability to stumble on
such a problem.

Now the question is: can anybody help me write this test? I don't know the OOo
build system very well.

I checked with "2.0.1 RC5 German version WIN XP: [680m1(Build8990)]" and can
confirm the problem. Opening the document causes 100% processor load and used
memory size is rising on and on.

"1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52 (Build 8824)]" and WORD 2000 open the document
without problem.

The document can be opened with 2.0.1 if I saved it newly from 1.1.4 (does not
matter whether .sxw or .doc), but it did not help to save it newly from
WORD2000.

Unfortunately I can not get an error report.

the following Word97 document has a big frame that is imported badly in
OpenOffice 2.01 (linux & windows version)

But, strange to say, there are differences between how the Windows and Linux
verions do import the document (the windows version of OOO seems to import the
document "less badly")

Theese the are the error reported:

-) FRAME
--* Linux Version - upper margin and lower margin not corretly imported.
Considering that both the upper and lower margin are wrong, it appears that also
the size of the frame is wrong.
--* Windwos version- upper margin OK. lower margin not corretly imported

-)TABLE
--* Linux Version - table within the frame is cutted in the lower part in the
Linux version. It seems that the _Linux_ version import a too long table to fit
in the frame. So last rows disappear.
--* Windows version - Although the table displays all its rows, the size of the
table should be smaller, compared to that in the word97. Maybe this is has
something to do with the wrong frame size ??

-)MACRO
In the Word97 , doublecliking on the special [] char, should pop up a character
(symbol) dialog.
This does not happen in both windows&Linux OOO versions.

See attached screenshots.

Just tried printing the BrochureExample.odg file with OO.org 2.0.1, and it
produced the same results. I have downloaded the latest developer version, and
I will try that next.

PS: What's the status on this issue?

Hi All,
I cannot import .wk4 Files from the Lotus 1-2-3 Format.
Transforming them first into .wk1 or .xls or any other format would mean loss of
lots of information. My spreadsheet is over 5900 lines long and over 50 columns
wide and has several worksheets with lots of graphics. So far I am still
running Lotus 1-2-3 on one of my machines since I have not been able to safely
move to another system (such as micro$oft eXcel).
thnx a lot for ur support,
Chris
