[sw-issues] [Issue 61643] New - Navigator should als o display all Index Entries.
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=61643 Issue #:|61643 Summary:|Navigator should also display all Index Entries. Component:|Word processor Version:|OOo 2.0.1 Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|All Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|ENHANCEMENT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|ui Assigned to:|mru Reported by:|raindrops --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 5 23:55:54 -0800 2006 --- Navigator should also list all Index Entries. Currently the user cannot directly jump to any Index Entry, because of the following limitations: 1. The Index Entry dialog is designed for sequential access >> It does not allow direct access to any desired Index Entry >> It does not allow any desired occurrence of a given Index Entry 2. Unlike TOC, page numbers in the Indexes are not hyperlinked. The only way a user can go to a desired Index Entry is this: 1. Look up an Index and check the page number for the desired Index Entry. 2. Enter this page number in the Navigator to jump to that page 3. Activate field shadings and locate the Index Entry on the page. 4. Right-click on the Index Entry to start the dialog with focus on the desired entry This has to be repeated for each entry. Obviously this is too tedious. As a solution, the Navigator should also list all Index entries. User will then be able to browse all Index entries, and jump to any occurrence of any entry in the document. Note that I have made two another suggestions: (a) The Navigator should be searchable (independently from the document's search). (b) Provide type ahead (predictive entry) facility in Navigator, so that when we type a string, a matching entry is selected.. Collectively, these features will make management of Index Entries very user-friendly. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 61557] Writer frequently hangs
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=61557 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 5 21:20:00 -0800 2006 --- Raindrops ->MRU, I did some further investigation, and now I have clinching evidences that this IS abnormal behavior: 1. Open another type of file first. (say Impress or Calc), and do some little work. (Note that we deliberately selected the FIRST file that is NOT used by writer.) Also, open the online help file (press F1). Now open the odt file I sent you and then try clicking on the vertical bar (or drag the elevator). When Writer gets busy (shows hourglass), try to switch to the first file. Logically, we should be able to work on this file while Writer is busy with the odt file. But you will not be able to switch, or work on the first file. Even the online help file cannot be used at this point. Conclusion-- The entire OOo becomes "busy"; not just the Writer. Also, this is not a "normal" background task; or a limitation that users can be content with. 2. OOo goes into meditation only when I click on the vertical scrollbar (or drag the elevator downwards). But till that VERY moment, Writer looks ready to receive user input. That means these two actions are confirmed triggers for the problem. On the other hand, if I use the Navigator to go to the bottom of the document, Writer does not hang at all. I can start work immediately and keep working without any hangs from Writer. After this, I can drag the elevator or click in the vertical scrollbar. Writer does NOT go into maintenance mode at all! Well, WHY doesn't Writer sense that maintenance is required in THIS case? The document's state is EXACTLY THE SAME: The only difference is that I used some other mechanism to go downwards. So why does Writer misbehave ONLY IF my first action is to go down in the document with those two mechanisms? 3. Just to eliminate the possibility of any left-over maintenance work in the document, I updated the document using the "Tools > Update > Update all" command; and then saved the document. After that, there should not be any maintenance work left. Even then Writer launches this so-called "maintenance task" when I reopen the document. BTW, when the entire updating takes just a couple of seconds, just what is that Writer does for so long? Certainly worth investigating with a debug version. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=61550 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 5 17:02:32 -0800 2006 --- I don't believe I'm using invalid arguments. My original configure was: ./configure --disable-mozilla (using the othewise excellent notes on the web page to guide me) I misunderstood what you were referring to at one stage, but this didn't change anything. Here's what has happened in my case: 1 - the build unpacks epm/download/epm-...tgz which is the source code for epm. 2 - runs epm's configure, which checks for an fltk-config file on the system. 3 - I have the fltk libs installed, which includes the fltk-config file, so epm's configure says to build the epm GUIs. 4 - I don't have the fltk development package containing the required include files. It is common for the development files for most packages to be in separate rpms to the runtime components (so libs etc). 5 - the epm build fails because in needs the include files. I believe you when you say that the GUI is no longer required by OOo, but AFAICS nothing prevents the above from occurring in the latest builds. The epm-3.7 package is still the same one for SRC680_m155. epm/epm-3.7.patch has been modified for SRC680_m155, but I don't see anything in it to guarantee that the epm configure isn't confused into building the GUIs by mistake as described above. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 61591] Single letter in cell aut o-formats to upper case
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=61591 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 5 15:31:03 -0800 2006 --- Thank you, Frank. I did indeed have upper-case 'X' in the same column and turning off auto-input is the answer to prevent my lower-case 'x' from being changed. Hmmm... should auto-input be case sensitive? It's interesting to note that if I have a mix of both 'x' and 'X' in the same column, and then turn on auto-input, subsequent entries of 'x' still get converted to 'X'. Even if 'x' is at the top of the column or in the cell directly above where the new value is being entered. Given that behavior, I personally would like to see auto-input be case sensitive, so perhaps this issue should remain open. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. For my test, I created a list with three envelopes and addresses. Once the merge is complete, the document is displayed correctly in MS Word...3 envelopes, one address each. I saved the document and then opened it in OOo. When OOo opens it, there are 3 envelopes (pages), but the first envelope has no address, the second envelope has the address that should be on the first envelope, and the third envelope has both of the remaining addresses, one overlaid on top of the other. It appears that this is a case of incorrect array indexing between the addresses and the envelopes/pages. The envelopes/pages appear to be zero-based, and the addresses appear to be 1-based. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Since High Contrast (HC) icons will become a seperate theme, I created an optimized 'images.zip' with all HC icons removed. The following icon was deleted as part of this: ui/default_images/svx/res/lngcheck_h.png After deleting this icon, although I was using the 'Default' icon theme (i.e. not HC), Spell Checking no longer functioned correctly- buttons were not visible. This can be tested by temporarily deleting 'images.zip' and imagecache. OOo degrades gracefully, displaying text in place of icons on the toolbar. However, Spell Checking stops functioning. Spell Checking should not have any icon dependency. Regards, Andrew - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. But in this case it does not work for a lack in concept, that worries me. 8-bit-codepages vary a lot, too much to transfer anything into Unicode in this manner - I guess. However: CP437 is substantiell - and not working. 2nd: the filter-dialog does not come up. As far as I know it comes up always in LINUX, but NOT in Windows. It would be a good idea to have the same "edit filter" button available on IMPORT as we have it on export, right?
