So - this is clearly bogus. The D/B construction allows the 'system' charset -
which in my case (and in ~all Unix cases) is UTF-8 to be used.
On the other hand, it doesn't allow that to be selected:

I can attach another sample doc, but I think I know what the local problem is for this part of the bug. It looks like the ID of a column is carried over from the old ( i.e. partial) pre-merge table. When you add,delete or resize the columns (after merging) visually you are addressing the first column, but the table thinks that column is say #3 for the first n rows and #6 for the last rows. In other words, the visual definition does not match the underlying definition, which is what one developer may have been saying above. I didn't actually test it on RC2 release, but stumbled on it working on another issue. Step to reproduce: 1) open a writer document (any), better if there are headings in it to convert in bookmarks; 2) export to PDF using: File | Export to PDF 3) confirm the name, when the dialog opens go to Initial View page and select Bookmarks and page check box; leave the remaining at their default 4) export the file Now open with Acrobat Reader: the file should open with the bookmark pane opened at the left. Close the file in Acrobat, export again, this time using the button on the toolbar, no dialog box shows up, the file is exported. Open again with Acrobat Reader, instead of opening as before, the pdf document opens with the bookmark pane closed, as if default was selected. This is due to some of the filter property names in filter/source/pdf/pdffilter.cxx missed/mispelled. The attached patch correct the issue, I built the patch against OOC680_m2 sources. -> pl.
