It could be that this behavior belongs only to the german 3.0 Beta. There the
error message box appears again.

First, I customized a short cut-key to the "font size"-function (under 
"Format").
When pressing the designated keys (Ctrl+Shift+P in my case), the dialogue window
for "Character" is shown. But instead of setting focus on the Size-field, the
focus is on Font-field.
It can be worked around by pressing Tab two times.
However, my preferable action for the "font size"-function would be that it
enabled selecting font size directly from the "Font size"-field in the
Format-toolbar. Similar for "font name"-function, that is selecting the font
from the toolbar (should this be in another issue?).
