Still valid for 2.4.1

Editable listboxes with completion has been implemented, but the proposal to
implement Used vs All Styles in Apply Style (and same for Font Name) buttons
are still valid.

I checked with "Ooo-dev 3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version German UI WIN XP:
[300m29 (Build9339)]" and can confirm the reported effect. Same with 1.1.4 and
3.0.0 beta (m29).

I agree, that is unexpected:

A cell reference "=$C$10" will be modified to "=$C$9" if row 1 will be deleted,
but the reference for conditional formatting will not be updated. Bug? Feature?
I can't decide that, but as mentioned, for me that is unexpected.

Build of the curl module fails when attempting to apply curl-7.12.2.patch. It
fails because curl-7.12.2.patch contains DOS style line-ends (), but the
files being patched contain Unix style line-ends (). At least on my Linux
distribution (Mandriva 2008.1), the patch command treats line-ends as
significant.

If I convert curl-7.12.2.patch to have Unix style line-ends, the build is
successful.

Rolling back, I find this issue was introduced in DEV300m27.

On a Thai, Windows PC, the default fonts in the default Calc stylesheet are :-

* Style - Western font : CTL font
* Default - Arial regular 10 : Tahoma regular 10
* Heading - Arial bold italic 16 : Tahoma regular 10
* Heading1 - Arial bold italic 16 : Tahoma regular 10
* Result - Arial bold italic 10 : Tahoma regular 10
* Result1 - Arial bold italic 10 : Tahoma regular 10

Please note that while Western fonts vary between styles, CTL fonts remain
Tahoma regular 10. So this must be some misconfiguration of the CTL defaults. At
least, the pared CTL fonts should use Tahoma with the equivalent size and
typeface.

Corrected Version due to report.
I checked with "Ooo-dev 3.0.0 Beta Multilingual version German UI WIN XP:
[300m29 (Build9339)]" and can NOT confirm any problem. Online Update will
download "OOo-Dev_OOO300_m1_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe", what indeed is a
later version than 300m29.

I agree, the contents of the message box is really misinterpretative, but I
can't see any malfunction.

@jackbassv:
Please explain more detailed where you see some malfunction!

The font of the page number field in the header reverts to the Writer default
when the document is Saved as .doc. When Saved as .odt, the document behaves as
expected. These steps produce this problem:

1. Under Tools > Options, the Basic Fonts in Writer are set to Courier 12 except
for the Heading which is set to Arial 14.
2. In a New document, go to Insert > Header > Default.
3. In the header type your last name, put a space, go to Insert > Fields > Page
number.
4. Click right justify in toolbar.
5. Highlight the last name and page number.
6. In the toolbar, choose Times New Roman as the font.
7. Save the document as .odt.
8. Go to File > Save as, and save again as Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP .doc.
9. Open the respective documents in Writer.
10. The .odt retains Times New Roman for the last name and the page number
field.
11. The .doc retains Times New Roman for the last name, but reverts to Courier
for the page number field.

I totally agree with denis0, handling as connecting lines should be the best
solution. Today, measuring lines are defined as standard lines only which do
not provide the automatic connection function.

A heads up:

Checked this w/ OOo300 m_1, XP using the test document supplied by arielch,
attached here, so as to close the issue.

The macros fail on the line:
iType = oSelection(0).Value
in the procedure:
Sub selectionChangeListener_selectionChanged(oEv as
com.sun.star.lang.EventObject)

The error message is that the "property or method not found"

Will try to determine if it is the test code or the implementation at fault, but
that will have to wait till later today.

Leaving as fixed for now..

I use this settings with auto-raise window turned off.

When I work with OOW and Konqueror (for example) everything is fine.

But if I get to OOW Help then OOW and OOWH violates KDE settings -- how to
reproduce. Run OOW, open help, make sure the help window is not maximized.
Now, get your mouse cursor to taskbar, switch to OOW help, and now move mouse
to OOW Help in such way that you move it over OOW. The moment OOW gets focus
it will auto-raise.

Workaround: maximize the OOW Help window OOW window gets focus.

Steps:
select some text
call find&replace
more options
turn on "current selection only" (CSO)
deselect selected text
NOW -> CSO is disabled (good) but also turned off (bug)

This bug causes repetitive replace in selection a pain, because I have to each
time set this option back. Other options are preserved but not this one.

So please, just simply disable/enable this option but do not interfere with
user choice any further.

Note, this scroll DOES NOT happen without find&replace dialog. In order to see
the scroll you have to bring it up.

1, 2, 3, 4 denotes cells, space is used only to make the drawing more clear

top edge of view of the document (not of the document) --
1 222

3 444
3 444
3 444

all four cells are fully visible (i.e. no part of them are out of the view)!

Now I select text in 4 from bottom to up, nothing happens, I reach to left top
corner (or I can even be in the middle of the height) and I move the cursor
left to 3.

Immediately after I move the cursor to 3, selection switches from
text-selection to cell-selection, 4 and 3 are selected AND also whole document
is scrolled in such way that now 3 and 4 are top cells (1 and 2 are out of the
view).

This is very disturbing because I prefer focusing on selecting:
a) there was no reason to scroll (all cell were visible)
b) the behaviour is not consistent -- without find&replace there is no such
scroll

1. Create a new Writer document.
2. Type a few words, for example "This is a formula: "
3. Insert a formula (Insert>Object>Formula), for example "dy over dx = f(x)y "
4. Type some more words, for example "to illustrate this problem"
5. Turn on Change Recording (Edit>Changes>Record) & ensure the Show option is
ticked/checked.
6. Select the last word before the formula, the formula and the first word after
the formula, in our example "formula: to". Delete the
selection. The deleted *words* will be struck through, the formula won't be.
7. Save the document.

At this point we see the bug: the formula itself disappears and the "text" of
the formula changes to "Object 2" in a box. This text is topped by an icon that
looks like a glass of champagne at about 45 degrees. The formula itself is *not*
recoverable even after rejecting all changes (Edit>Changes>Accept or
Reject>Reject All).

I must force quit the application after the crash, and I must restart and
recover the document that I was editing when the application crashed.

Hitting F1 instead, will bring up the help window.

This was found actually with OOo300 m_1, XP ( don't see this build listed )

In testing Issue http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=56643 so as to
close it I was able to crash the application a number of times, using the 3.0
code line.

The problem is actually in using the example Basic code supplied in the other
issue. Specifically if you look at the code you will see that it is not really
going to write anything to the database and under 2.4.1 you end up with a new
record and no image data in the image field - under OOo300 m_1 however you will
crash the application also. Note the crash does not seem to happen each and
every time, but it will happen on a fairly regular basis on my machine if you
repeat the macro.

It seems that using an ODB file created with 2.4 or older helps cause the crash
to happen.

I have attached a test doc and will add my Basic macro - using these two
together I could crash the application on an almost consistent basis.

Crash report id's from a couple of the crashes - each was from a crash using a
different database and a slight change in the Basic code..
rgdk4uc
rc2k4uc
rx2k4uc
r42k4uc

Also, it seems that having an empty table may play into this also, but it is not
required to force the crash

' Basic code used to get the crash --
Sub Main

oDBCntxt = CreateUnoService("com.sun.star.sdb.DatabaseContext")
dim oDS
'if not oDBCntxt.hasByName( "test_insert_image" ) then
if not oDBCntxt.hasByName( "test_image_231" ) then

The same with OOO300m1, if I write any text into writer, or any number into
Calc, draw a line in draw or impress, cause crash, with loop in document
recovery.

Not happens with Base and Math.

It not happend when freshly installed program, only after reboot. On Linux works
all good.
After deleting user profile, and reregistering works normally, until next
restart.

Thanks ericb:
and Eric Hoch told me mac porting ML:
According to

Java 1.5.x is installed via a security update under Mac OS X
10.4.10 and higher. For 10.4.8 there also exists a Java 1.5.x
.
Only for 10.4.x up to 10.4.7 I couldn't find any informations but
maybe they are available when digging deeper into the Mac OS X
support and download pages. It may only be necessary to switch to
1.5.x as the default when using Tiger.

so it is not an issue anymore :)

thanks everyone!

Macintosh, OS 10.4.3, Latvian keyboard, font TimesCERoman.
When I need to enter a "diacritic" Latvian character, for example, a "long
a" ("ā") [using the Latvian keyboard - "option - a"], I get a totally different
character ("Ç"). Textedit permits me to enter the proper character. Of course,
I can "insert - special character", but this is a very inconvenent way to do
that.

fme: thanks for the pointer. I've read up on hanging punctuation, but this only
seems to include 。 and 、, not any of the other characters I've seen this
occur with -- which aren't really punctuation (cf. http://www.w3.org/TR/
jlreq/). Can you point me to the reference used when deciding that those
characters should be included in hanging punctuation?

In MSO VBA, "name" can be defined as a variable or a Name object. e.g.

Dim name as String ' name as a variable

Dim n as Name ' Name is a object

But the above macro will throw runtime error "BASIC syntax error" in OOo basic.

Current patch can support three keywords to be used as variable including Name,
Line, Text. But it has a limit. When a keyword "Name" is dim as a variable, the
"Name" function can not used in the same Subroutine.

Sub Test()
   dim name as String
   name = "Hello"
   Msgbox name

   Name "c:/tmp/1.txt" As "c:/tmp/2.txt" ' fail
End Sub

com.sun.star.sdb.application.NamedDatabaseObject , formerly it was a

Phenomenon:
soffice.bin freezes until a NFS access is timed out.

Reproduction:
 1. File > Open.
 2. Fill the File name field with /net/10.0.0.70/ , an IP address of NFS server.
Please substitute the IP address with that of your NFS server.
 3. Press the Open button.

Results:
On Solaris, there is a problem that soffice.bin freezes until an attempt of
accessing to /net/1 is finished with an error ENOENT because of timeout.
It seems that a user has to wait for 500 seconds to see a list of the files
in the NFS server if he/she types an IP address of NFS server instead of its
 hostname.

On Linux, there seems no problem from user's point of view. However, some
unnecessary accesses can be observed, such as accessing to /net/1, /net/10,
 /net/10., /net/10.0, and so on.

Details:

I have been working on this problem and have managed to get basic support for
font stretch to oowriter + ODF. I've used fo:font-stretch for saving it (I know
ODF doesn't include fo:font-stretch, but I think we can take care of that
later). It's not yet possible to set it from inside of the app, however; you
have to use a hand-modified ODF input file.

Testing file containing all possible values of font stretch. Unfortunately,
DejaVu font contains but one alternative stretch (semi-condensed), so there is
not much to see.

dlairmarc,
I can't reproduce it in DEV300_m28 on WinXP. Maybe I misunderstood your
description. If possible, please confirm it again.
