I do not have such kind of problem under Ubuntu with native OOo version. If you are using the version provided by Ubuntu I suggest you to ask a Ubuntu user forum in order to verify you have not an installation problem. [ui-issues] [Issue 79878] OO.o can not select modern font faces conveniently
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=79878 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Aug 16 07:37:05 + 2008 --- @meywer Ben states plainly in http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12735 that having Condensed a font family is a legacy deprecated property for systems that can not parse modern font attribute. It's not intended to be used by anything remotely current. Linux core font libraries have been switched to the modern behaviour after a grace period some time ago. Going back to the previous behaviour or activating both at once would be a regression. (and BTW opentype specs were written by entities like MS so trying to fight the tide would result in major compatibility problems in a few years) The problems occur at the OO.o level, which is still being updated to take font format changes into account. If you want to complain, complain this update is taking too long, do not ask to remove what progress has already been made by the fine developpers. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Create a New Text document, and open the Styles panel (F11) 2. Dock the styles panel to the right side of the text document: Ctrl+doubleclick to dock, them drag to the right side. 3. Save the document (Maybe this step is not important.) 4. Close the OOo, and re-open it 5. Create a new text document: the Styles panel is docked on the left side, however in step 2 it was moved to the right side, so it should be on the right side. I've also tested the issue with the navigator panel, and the result is the same. However sometimes the docking position is saved, but I don't know exactly when. Right now the Styles panel on my computer is always docked on the left, and the Navigator panel is always docked on the right, if I open a new text document. 88039 and 92324 are similar issues, but they are about the behavior of styles/navigator panel in different applications (writer/impress etc.). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I need this in order to be able to store the selection to the database (preserving the formatting) and later retrieve it and insert it in some other document. I am glad I was able to amuse you. What about the inventor of the zero? He must have been a 'funny guy' too. (Who needs something to represent nothing?) People who design digital clocks are also funny: One second after 7:59:59, the time is 8:00:00, not 8:01:01. And, if the clock works on the 24-h system, it shows 0:00:00, not 1:01:01, at midnight; funny... Pope Gregory XIII was a 'serious' guy: He started his calendar with year 1. Had he been a 'funny guy', he would have started with year 0, and we would have celebrated the year 2000 2000 (not 1999) years later; also, someone born in 10BC would have been 30 (not 29) in 20AD. After years of Modula-2 programming, I do know that array indices are easier to manipulate when they start at 0, and that would likely apply to arrays used in spreadsheet software. Calc code would become smaller and faster, even for users who don't care about a row 0. OK, Excel rows start at 1. So, what? Must OO be as short-sighted as MS? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I would like the ability to paste information into a spreadsheet and retain the font type and size to remain set to the spreadsheet's settings. I used to be able to do this in OO 2.x and can still do it in Microsoft Excel by pasting values into the formula bar and not directly into the cell. Is there a setting I can choose to make this happen or is this some new feature. If it is a new feature, I think it should be removed as there is no longer a method of retaining the format of a cell when pasting in data. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When a row is moved or deleted only the cells in that row change. When they are moved the cells in the new location retain the proper font size. If a cell or group of cells are moved or cut this happens in the cells that are emptied, but not if they are deleted using the delete key. Along with the change in font size, the text alignment is also changed to the default. If you have auto correction on, you will get Tom loves A boy named Charly. (a is changed to an uppercase A because of auto correction, as there is a point in front of the a, which was erased in step 3 and is displayed with a strike through it) What OOo should do: an erased . shouldn't be considered by autocorrection. FYI, there is an existing macro for deprecated attributes and maybe something like: #undef DEPRECATED_ATTRIBUTE #define DEPRECATED_ATTRIBUTE Can solve the problem. In my OOo, the download automatically option (in ToolsOptions menu) is unselected from the very beginning (I have cross-checked this). Yet OOo has started the download without asking for permission. I came to know only when the green Update button in the OOo window showed a balloon called download of update in progress. Initially I thought it is updating the plugins (which is Ok because plugins are small). But this turns out to be the main OOo application. This is a problem because OOo installer is large, and I prefer to download it through a scheduler, to download it during the free download hours offered by my ISP. The only unusual thing that happened before problem: OOo crashed TWICE, while trying to load a 380-page complex document. Each time I canceled the recovery of the document (because I had not even opened the document, let alone edit it). I wonder if the Update automatically option is affected by these crashes... - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 92840] If a crashed document reco very is canceled, OOo bypasses crash-report al so
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=92840 Issue #|92840 Summary|If a crashed document recovery is canceled, OOo bypass |es crash-report also Component|framework Version|OOO300m2 Platform|Unknown URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|code Assigned to|tm Reported by|raindrops --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Aug 17 02:39:10 + 2008 --- The recovery wizard has two tasks: 1. Recover the crashed document(s) and 2. Report the crash to Sun Both tasks should be independent. Instead, the wizard is designed in such a way that if the user does not want to recover a document, he cannot send a crash report also. There are many cases where the user may not want to recover his document, but still he would be interested in sending the crash report. For example, when OOo crashes while loading the document. Since the user has not edited the document yet, he won't prefer to recover a potentially corrupted document. Desired: The wizard should treat recovery and reporting tasks independently. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This happened only with Dev300m29 (which downloaded dev3.0m1 on its own). I have used almost all earlier beta versions also, but never faced this problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
