I'm using some Properties (File -> Properties) of a document. On the third tab
are the UserDefined properties. Then I give the infofields some names
like "C", "B" and "A" (in that order). And after that I assign some values to
that infofields.

Now I can use that infofields in a Macro. But, after saving the document en re-
open it, the order of the infofields is changed. The infofields in my document
are now in alphabetical order! (A, B, C). And my Marco, that using the values
of these infofields, failed.

I saw this bug immediately using the numbers.odt file posted here and the
version of OpenOffice 2.4 in Ubuntu Hardy. After downloading the .deb files for
OOO300m9 from openoffice.org and installing it, I did not continue to see this
bug. Strange that it affects so many distributions, but seemingly is not
reproducible using Sun's openoffice. My votes confirmed this issue, but that was
before I saw that it didn't seem to be present in Sun's binaries.

[sc-issues] [Issue 95754] Calc for tree calculus too

2008-11-03 Thread mariusd

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Nov 4 07:04:56 +
2008 ---
Hello,

Motivation:
In my activities I found this necessity to have more flexibility regarding the
structure of data & calculus.
This tree will permit to easy rearrange data and easy merge other data
structure.

Functionality expected:
- Each file in the tree can be any Calc Object (range of cells even sheet;
charts and so on);
- Tree specific methods (view modes, view tree structure exploding sub folders
..., referencing/select/copy/paste/create/erase/import folder, editing cell
specific data or formula and so on directly in file (in tree));
- Extend group of Statistical formulas also for tree structure (example: countif
counting the number of sub folders named ".." or number of cells/rages inside
files from sub folders and so on) a would like to name this ("Collectors")
- Additional implementation of conditional formatting
- Recode formula auditing for entirely tree to avoid circular references;
- Intuitive assistant for referencing folders or files in formula (like:
/MyProject/Faze1/Activity1/Consumables or possibility pointing on tree
structure);
- Include in the list of insertable objects neighbor the sheet, chart and so on;

Advantages (example):
- Let's say that I would like to have the sum of cost in Faze1 than I write in
formula this:
=SUM(/MyProject/Faze1) .easy:) may be will be necessary implement more
complex (SUMIF correlated with name of file which colects data below it) when I
would like have this statistical on each level in tree but not alter the value
of statistical above (in tree)
- My Project structure is part of the Company Management tree calculus and then,
MyProject will be imported or more rafinated linked in the branch of my
department in Company Management and so on.

If additional information will be necessary do not hesitate to contact me,

With hope that this ~4 years old idea will become real in a day for all benefit
..
Marius Darie

Multiple clicks on pdf export button create multiple dialogs. I am not sure if
this was intentionally left like this. While one pdf export dialog is open,
multiple clicks on pdf export button should activate the previously open
window. This is the ideal case.

If this was intentionally left like this, What would be the reason. One file
should be saved before that file could be saved as another pdf with a different
name.

To solve this problem I would just make the ooo pdf export dialog a modal
dialog, that way user will not be able to reach the button at all.
Other option would be the one Suggested above. If the dialog needs to be set
non-modal, the same active dialog should be referred to when pdf button is
clicked.

Stefan,

Running a full indexer on eyebrowse/message should resolve the issue.
Schedule a less traffic time when the indexer could be ran. So, that we can
run it from the admin UI.

This Problem is in both OOo 2.2 and 3.0 and may be in more versions. The
problem occurs when you paste or add an image and make it a background. If
there is text above the image you cannot select the text. The image is selected
every time. Apparently if you add the image in format/page/background this
solves the problem but doesn't allow for easy editing of the text document.
Perhaps adding a lock feature to the image would fix this problem or making it
harder to select the image than the text.

It is a rather basic problem so a test file I don't think is needed but email me
if you need an example.

I (also) cannot confirm it, i.e. after reload the cell has the same formatting
as before saving.

FYI, after playing with the Alignment | Text orientation | Reference edge
| "Text extension from lower cell border", I believe that it does look correct
(i.e. to me, it looks good, it is useful, and I like it) with the background
color slanted and crossing the borders.

When Frames (usually containing pictures) are anchored "to Character," they slip
in "front" of the text when I alter formatting parallel the frame (usually by
changing the text on that page). Changing text before the frame causes it to
reformat itself correctly (i.e., with text wrapped around it), as does changing
the wrap type (from parallel to left, for example).

Data loss through simultaneous editing of network stored files with OOo3 and any
other editing application (OOo2, IBM Symphony, MS Office etc). This problem has
been caused by the decision to drop system file-locking in OOo3.

Example using files a file opened on a cifs-mount (the bug is reproducible with
all file formats including ODF and MS Office files):
1) Open a .odt/.doc-file on a client A (Windows or Linux) with OOo3
2) Open the same .odt/.doc-file on a client B with OOo2 or MS Office --> file
opens editable (Major problem!)
3) Concurrently edit the document on client A and on client B and save the
document.

Result: the last save-actions wins, the changes of the first save-action are
lost.

Notes:
* This is a feature request to resolve problems raised in Issue # 91015.
* Issues 95528 and 95530 are NOT applicable. They only refer to OOo3
file-locking with other instances of OOo3, not with other editors.
* Even for companies that have standardised on OOo it is often not possible to
exclusively use OOo (eg a Finance team member may still have a requirement for
MS Excel).
* When operating in a mixed application environment applications are expected to
"play nicely" with each other to be viable - application interoperability is
more than just reading each others files.
* This is a probable data loss scenario for many Government and medium to large
corporate environments and may threaten the viability of OOo3 for these users.

Potential options may include:
* Enable a "legacy" (OOo2) system file-locking option in OOo3.x
* Simultaneously enable both the new OOo3 file-locking and the "legacy" (OOo2)
system file-locking option in OOo3.x
* Abandon the OOo3 file-locking and revert to the OOo2 style system file-locking
option in OOo3.x
* Provide a OOo3 fork with OOo2 system file-locking
* Continue developing the OOo2 branch in parallel with OOo3

Since testers or users never know if a certain Open Office behaviour was
actually MEANT to work a certain seemingly faulty way, she can NEVER know
wether an issue is a DEFECT or an ENHANCEMENT. This causes a lot of frustation
and wasted exchanges with the programmers.

For instance if undo undoes too much - or too little - how would the tester/
user know wether it is a DEFECT or a by-design-behavoir?

Please replace the DEFECT issue type - and perhaps add more types - with names
such as:

SEEMS BROKEN
UNPREDICTABLE BEHAVIOUR
NOT USER-FRIENDLY
CRASH

- David

btw - the "version" is very confusing when reporting www-issues like this. it
doesn't make sense to select an Open office version of the issue tracker /
website.

This might be a DEFECT and not an enhancement.

In Calc Home works in two very different ways that is hard for humans predict
when working fast and effectively.

If you type a number into a cell and press Home the cell content is accepted
and the cursor instantly moves to column one.

IF, however there was a number or a string in the cell, the home button would
NOT accept the content but - as expected - go to the beginning of the number/
string.

These two situations happen often and - perhaps 50% of the time you type into
an empty cell and 50% of the time you edit a cell. Thus Home works differently
50% of the times depending on which Home button behavior your brain likes the
best.

Normally you must tap Return or Escape to accept/change the cell content, but
perhaps 50% of the time Home both accept the content it and move the cursor -
sometimes it doesn't. This is unpredictable to users who use Calc alot - these
users develop habits. Or perhaps this behaviour prevents them from using or
developing that habit since it will not work predictably and instead Calc slows
the user down.

Why is this a problem?

1) an interface should never punish the user for using habits. Pressing Home to
get to the beginning of a line or cell is a good habit but in this case works
as a punishment. Therefore the Home button should always always go to beginning
of a string/line unless it's impossible in which case it chould go to column 1
(or simply not work).

2) When you type a number you might decide that it needed a dash in front to
make it negative (I do this very often) or you decide a string of text should
start differently. And by habit you tap Home. This, however, does NOT work as
you expected and you have to scroll around to find for the cell you were
editing to change the start of it - this requires lots of extra key presses
(Calc punished the user with extra keypresses and wated time). Therefore the
Home button should always go the the start of a string if possible.

When I try to open a TXT file coded on Shift-Jis (Japanese), Openoffice shows it
like an ANSI file. A correct behaviour would be to autodetect the codification
and showing it correctly.

> OOo tries to write a lock file. It has the form .~lock.myfilename#
> Please try whether the user has the right to write such a file.

Thank you, this was very useful. I found out that it is related to the
temporary dotfiles that OO tries to create. My network share does not
allow dotfiles to be created. I changed this and now OO is able to write
to my network share.

In my opinion OO should use the default temporary folder for this kind
of files. But I guess there are good reasons for the different behaviour.
Although writing temporary files to the default temporary folder would
avoid such problems.

Besides that I've noticed that the Windows Explorer does not let the
user create files in the form .~lock.myfilename#, neither local nor on
a network share. The leading dot is a problem. I had to use the Windows
Command Line to create the dotfile.

Anyway, my problem is solved. You may resolve this issue, if you don't
think there is something that should be changed in OO's handling of temporary
files.

Thank you.

[framework-issues] [Issue 95162] Java extensions cannot be installed in some environments

milek->sb: I managed to fix one half of the remaining bug. It's enough to add
the following to getJarMainAttributes(URL jar):

JarInputStream s = new JarInputStream(new URL(
URLDecoder.decode(jar.toString(), System.getProperty("sun.jnu.encoding",
"UTF-8"))).openStream());

But immediately after it I get IllegalArgumentException with

cl2.loadClass(name) in RegistrationClassFinder.

I instrumented the exception and here's the stack:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
sun.net.www.ParseUtil.decode(Unknown Source)
sun.misc.URLClassPath$JarLoader.(Unknown Source)
sun.misc.URLClassPath$3.run(Unknown Source)
java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
sun.misc.URLClassPath.getLoader(Unknown Source)
sun.misc.URLClassPath.getLoader(Unknown Source)
sun.misc.URLClassPath.getResource(Unknown Source)
java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
java.net.FactoryURLClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
com.sun.star.comp.loader.RegistrationClassFinder.find(RegistrationClassFinder.java:90)
com.sun.star.comp.loader.JavaLoader.writeRegistryInfo(JavaLoader.java:433)

I tried decoding the URL the same way as above for class loader constructor but
it didn't work (the version with UTF-8 as-is, UTF-8 percent-encoded and UTF-16
failed). If anyone has an idea what is the proper representation of the URL for
loadClass (that is, for UnoClassLoader, which is in turn only using the
inherited method from URLFactoryClassLoader, as far as I remember), I'd
appreciate it. Note that there is some strange problem here: the string produced
by explicitly calling sun.net.www.ParseUtil.decode on url.toString() is the same
as url.toString() and there is no error in that case. So the problem is probably
not just with ParseUtil.decode(). Any pointers, anyone?

I found a problem in the Writer. When I use a place holder for a footnote
number, and the footnote changes, the place holder does not refresh. Even after
closing and opening again, it does not refresh. I use OOo 3.0 (9358) on Linux
(Kubuntu, KDE 3).

@fs: this is most likely a Mac OS X only issue. And maybe Mac OS X Intel or
10.5.x or 10.5.x on Intel only.

Out of curiosity I just renamed my user profile under ~/Application
Support/OpenOffice.org/3/ and let OOo create a new one but the issue remains.
OOo crashes.

Are there any further steps that may help us in tracking down why OOo crashes
here under Mac OS X and not under Linux or Windows?

Please use the attached file.

- Save the odb file somewhere
- Below that file create a folder named "TESTDB"
- In that folder copy some dbf files
- Open the odb file

=> You should be able to open the dbase files. The path showed in the status bar
is still absolute as the URL when looking in the properties. To view the
relative path you have to unzip the odb and have a look at the content.xml file
and search for URL.

@maveric:
Yes, I read what Mechtilde wrote. But when it comes to reproducing the issue,
and I myself cannot reproduce it, then I am somewhat careful with a description
which says "Those are the steps to reproduce ... by the way, I cannot reproduce
it on my Linux box". No offense intended, but obviously Mechtilde distilled the
original description, and could not reproduce the bug herself.

As for your description - thanks, now that is what I call *detailed* :). Amongst
others, it answered the unanswered-so-far questions of how to mark the row, and
how to cut it.

Unfortunately, even with this perfect description, I still cannot reproduce the
crash, with the very same build as you :( /me is clueless

I've created a simple form with a subform inside. When using the form navigator
to move fields from main form to subform (via cut and paste so that dragging and
dropping doesn't work) the application crashes with no error message. When

@fs:
Did you read what Mechtilde wrote? That's a pretty good step by step instruction
but anyway I try to do my very best to be more specific.

1. Start OOo

2. Create a new Database

3. Let OOo register the new database

4. Select Tables in the left hand Database Menusection

5. Select "Create Table in Design View"

6. A new windows occures showing you a blank table design screen with Field
Name, Field Type and Description as the headers and the cursor blinking in the
first empty column beneath "Field Name".

7. Now type Test 1 as Field Name and leave Text [VARCHAR] as the Field Type

8. Go to the next new line and enter "Test 2" in as the Field Name.

9. Continue till Test 5 as Field Name

10. Now mark the "Test 5" row so that it is light blue highlighted

11. Do a right mouse click in the field where you see the green arrow.

12. A context menu appears showing Cut, Copy, Delete, Insert Rows, Primary Key.

13. Select Cut

14. OOo freezes and crashes after a few seconds.

This is OOo 3.0.0 Build 9358 en-US downloaded from the german gwdg Mirror.
md5sum matches is correct so the download isn't corrupted. I double checked with
the same OOo version downloaded from rwth-aachen Mirror and this one also
crashes.

I assume that those are the builds that sun made. I haven't tried it with an
en-US Intel build from Maho yet but I can if you like me to.

Hope this helps.

This problem does not seem to affect OOo 2.4.2--at least the sample document no
longer shows the problem.

Surprising, since the fix here is targeted for 3.1 and not shown as integrated
yet.

Hi Caolán,

the question is, why is "DoExportDialog" called, I think this shouldn't be the
case. I will have a look at it.

I would kindly ask everybody to read carefully the whole discussion before
posting one more comment here. Thanks.

mav->mhatheoo:

The issue is going to stay closed and my comments above describe why the issue
is closed. Everything that can be done for bug type of issue is covered by new
opened issue 95528 and issue 95530 ( please see the comment announcing them for
details ). This issue can not be closed as duplicate to the mentioned bugs,
since it also requests that other editors recognize the OOo3 file locking. That
needs system file locking support.

The request for system file locking support is a feature request, since the
current feature is based on the idea that the file system locking should not be
used. By the way, a new feature is nothing for OOo3.0.1 as I understood.

I have already written twice, that if somebody believes, that the system file
locking is necessary for him after the two mentioned issues are solved, he
should write a new feature issue to me for this. The system file locking usage
will not be introduced as a bugfix.

I am changing the summary to let it describe the problem better. The description
looks anyway not to be read ;)

SBA: Is this still the case in OOo 3.0?
If so, please provide a bugdoc and comment here.
Thank you.

At least, there are text direction buttons when CTL support is enabled. These do
not change the font.
Set to "Worksforme" until further info about OOo 3.0 behavior in this case.

SBA: Toying with multiple screen setup with a running Office (worse: dialogs
open) is not exactly an average users daily business.

But: After closing and re-starting the office, the current screen setup should
be regarded in a way that all office dialogs can be seen.

Is this still the case in OOo 3.0?

SBA: The AutoCorrect settings apply to one language only.
So the core thing to look at is that the text language is set to English
(Australia) as well as the AutoCorrect setting "color -> colour".
This works fine with OOo 3.0.

Set to "Worksforme".

I can only guess here; it would seem that the pdfimport extension filter gets
used although it is only an IMPORT filter. If one removes the extension again,
it works (produces a PDF file). However how does PDF even show up in the save as
dialog ? It does not in a "normal" save as dialog.

@as: Anyway of course the export filter should be taken instead of the import.
If there are any special tricks to make the voodoo of the filter configuration
work, please tell me.

done. Basically, you just need to time field displaying the current time, which

Sorry, MRU,

in OOo300m9 the paragraphs Heading 1 and Heading 2 (as descirbed in issue 95773)
disappear in navigator immediately and in the table of content after refresh of

This really is "intended" as you comment in issue 95773?
