> provide a second set of keys?

Which is ok and must not change. If an object is selected it is a different
"mode", or context.

> Arrows ware also used to change focus if the focus is inside a
> pane/toolbar/tab control/etc.

Which is somehow strange from my point of view. I can't see a real need for
this. Which is the exact benefit. Which problem solves the feature that one can
change the focus but not the slide? Multi selection of slide by using the
keyboard should be possible by "Shift ARROW UP/DOWN"

> I would say -1 to this 'enhancement'. Page Up/Down give 100% Keyboard
> accessibility here.

This is not true. Some Keyboards e.g. Notebooks like the MacBook do not have
Page Up/Down keys

> On a second node 'Space + Arrow Up/Down' is not possible, I'm sure you mean
> 'Shift + ' ?

Why is space not possible? Using "Space" for panning is pretty common usage for
Graphic tools.

Did you try JDBC instead of ODBC? Maybe that will work for you.

FWIW, I can not reproduce this with JDBC on Ubuntu, but you already said that
Ubuntu was working fine for you as well.

When I edit a link in oo-web it shows me the absolute file location for that
link. It shows me only the fully qualified document path, but it does not show
me what actual data is in the link. To see what the actual link data contains I
must open the html file in a text editor and inspect it.

For example, if I have a relative link to index.html, From the menu items
"edit-hyperlink " will show me only the fully qualified name such as
file:///home/kzahorec/Documents/index.html.

The data saved to html with oo is actually the ralative link. I am unable to
easily distinguish that the fully qualified name is not actually the name in the
html link data.

To remedy this, it would be an improvement to be able to easily determine what
the actual link data contains. I would like to know that it is a relative link
by editing it and seeing that it contains a relative file reference. The
relative data was entered by the user originally but the oo-web never shows me
what I entered again--It just keeps showing me the fully qualified path to the
file. The fully qualified path to the linked document is useful, but the actual
hyperlink data is also very useful.

The smil:direction="reverse" attribute is handled wrongly.

This is saved when you select the page transition "Uncover Up". However as
defined by SMIL 2.0 12.4.1 The transition element
"Uncover up" as done by ooimpress should be represented by:

This problem exists for most effects where smil:direction="reverse" is used.

There are two files attached; one is a docx file, another is a doc file
converted from the docx file by Office 2007. When we open the docx file with OOo
3.0, the table format is disappeared while the table is displayed normally in
the doc file. It is seemed the same bug related to this issue 93842. Please
check to see what the problem is and correct it. Thank you.

If I type U+200B U+1031 I get an infinite loop at line 105 in
source/breakiterator/breakiteratorImpl.cxx
I think this may indicate that i80923 was only partially fixed. The brackets are
different on this line to the others in the same method, so that if ch is a ZWSP
then nPos is not checked.
Patch to fix this will follow.

Open a new word processor document. Start the first paragraph (in the Default
style) with a Ctrl-B. Type a sentence. Hit Ctrl-B again to cancel bold and type
another sentence in medium. Save the file as an .rtf. When it's reopened, the
second sentence has become bold.

The second sentence is also bold when opened in WordPad, so the bug is in
saving, not in loading.

I have two problems with the StartCenter:

a. It's time consuming compared to the way the X11 versions worked. 2.4.0
launched into a blank word processing document and that was fine. If I needed
something different, then I was willing to take the
extra steps to close that doc and open a new spreadsheet, for instance. Now I
need extra time to go
through the welcome screen just to get to the word processor doc that 9 times
out of 0 I'm going to
need anyway.

b. I feel silly mentioning this but it is REALLY annoying. Behind the
StartCenter screen is a blank grey
document window that will get used for whatever document type you select from
the StartCenter. THIS
WINDOW IS THE WRONG SIZE!!! Unlike when I open a document by double-clicking
it, or later, if I open
an old document from the file menu, or when I close an old document and then
open a new document,
the StartCenter doesn't remember the size of the last document I had open and
insists on opening
document new or saved, in a window size that i ALWAYS have to resize. Not good!!

Yes, indeed it works like a charm on ubuntu. If you read
what I wrote, you will see that the problem is on debian.
I will not protest you closing the bug report, it is your
product after all. Just let us not lie to ourselves and
pretend that the process has been duly followed.

According to the MAC human interface guidelines,
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/AppleHIGuidelines/XHIGWindows
/chapter_18_section_4.html (search for Proxy Icon), when a document is saved a
"proxy icon" may appear
next to its filename in the window title bar. The file can be dragged to other
applications (eg, Mail) by
selecting and dragging the icon (NeoOffice supports this, for example).

The RFE requests that functionality be added to staroffice / openoffice for all
document types.

Hello,
i noticed this issue only from version 3.0, i did not notice it in version
2.4.1. Is there a known workaround?

I also saw that this problem still exists when saving the word document in ODT
file format. So i looked inside settings.xml of the ODT file and i saw that if
the variable "TabsRelativeToIndent" is set to true the problem disappears.
Is there a way to automatically set it to true (with a macro for instance) when
importing the file in Writer?

[sw-issues] [Issue 88361] Disable even=left/odd=righ t page rule to avoid page numbering issues

2008-11-19 Thread webstar08

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 19 23:17:30 +

Listen guys:
That page count issue is NOT the only issue with this.
The REAL issue with this is the STYLE issue!
i.e. when I'm doing not a printed book but an e-book
it becomes impossible to apply the page style of an odd page to an even page.
THAT'S where the real mess starts!

The conclusion:
The way #2 suggested by fme
(i.e. "In non-book-mode, the total number of pages has to be counted excluding
empty pages.")
absolutely CANNOT be used!

There only ONE way to solve this problem and it's this:
"1. In non-book-mode, the internal odd=right rule should not be applied"
i.e. in a non-book-mode the internal odd=right rule has to be completely
switched off!
Because not only that would get the page count right
it would also allow (finally) to get the page styles applied correctly.
i.e. after odd page style the next page must get the even page style
and after the even page style the following page must get the odd page style
etc.

The problem now is:
For example: Page xx is an odd page and so it has automatically the odd page
style.
The following page has automatically the even page style.
So far everything OK.
But when this following page happens to become an "empty" page it retains the
even page style and so the page that follows after that gets the odd page
style.
The result is:
Even if you don't care about page count and export a PDF without empty pages
you get TWO page with the same (in this example odd) page style following
directly after each other which is totally WRONG!

In an e-book the odd page style and the even page style must always
*alternate*.
Having two pages after each other with the same page style is a HUGE problem!

So, I'm sorry to tell you this but the only way to completely fix this problem
is the one that requires more work, i.e. this one:
"1. In non-book-mode, the internal odd=right rule should not be applied"

I can create and save documents (I'm using Writer and Draw) into a remote nfs
directory that is mounted on my workstation.

However, attempting to export a document to a pdf results in the following
message and a 0 size XXX.pdf file being created.

Error saving document XXX:
Error during shared access to /home/XXX.pdf
[ ok ]

I get the same error irrespective of the export format (same for pdf, html, bib,
tex and txt)
The export works fine if the output file is on a local file system.

I have worked around this by editing soffice and commenting out the 2 lines as
shown below
#SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING
#export SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING

Creating and saving documents to the nfs folder works fine with or without the
work around, but exporting documents to the nfs folder requires the work around.

Do I get it right that OOo development gets insulted because Draw (coming as a
free part of OOo) has a feature that Writer (coming as a free part of OOo) does
not have yet? A thing that can be workarounded via application-to-application
clipboard?

Writer is not a DeskTopPublishing or professional graphic tool kit. It is a WORD
processor. Yet.

SBA->MBA: Within this crowd of user experience and product design and marketing
experts that can not contribute ressouces but wishes, I think it is time to
remind of this once more:
http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/entry/why_all_issues_are_equal
Thank you for your reading and comprehension.

But OOo 3.2 sounds a good. Unless it starts to rain developer ressources until
then, consider to leave some fixes of crashes behind. Those bother only others.

It would be nice to have a variable (in German: "Feldbefehl") in OO Writer of
the directory my document is saved. So, if I have document abc.ods saved in "D:
\Data\xyz", I'd like to have a variable, which represents "xyz" in my document.

Up to now there's only an option to get the whole path (thus "D:\Data\xyz"),
but
there's no way to get JUST the parent directory, which would be a very nice and
in my opinion not too difficult to be implemented feature of automatic
variables
in OO :-)!

As I've learned from other user, this variable is also not listed in OO 3.

That is a pity - since a lot of similar text blocks in earlier presentations
suffer from this bug, I will have to downgrade to 2.4.1.

arielch > fs: congratulations! I didn't even have to modify the UNO component I
created for the previous version.

PD: for the next time, you could also add the respective sdk to the installation
set (dba31e/openoffice.org/basis3.1/sdk) - it seems the sdk/NB plug-in still
have some issues due to the 3-layer-OOo, and the sdk cannot be anywhere but in
the very same basis layer as the installation...

Is it possible to suggest Issue 94900 for OOo 3.0.1?

This issue leads to misbehaviour in the copy+paste functionality of Impress.

I think that such basic functionality has to work in an Office Suite.

The release of 3.0.1 was delayed for one month. So, is this possible?

It seems as if this only happens when there are subitems.

Is it possible to suggest this bug for OOo 3.0.1 since the released was delayed
by one month?

I think "copy+paste" is such a basic functionality that it has to work.

When I take notes in my classes, I sometimes number items, which the OOo
converts to its bullet numbering system. That is fine, but when I save the
document in .doc format and reopen it, the numbers *sometimes* appear in Calibri
font instead of the Arial font in which they were created. This problem is not
consistent but is very annoying just the same.

So the given debugging patch hopefully helps illustrate this. It will enforce
that the csv filter is at the bottom of the list, giving all other filters a
chance first. If the std::remove is removed then it be forced to the top.

With in it the document opens simply, with it out the document opens as a .csv.
Without the patch, its fairly arbitrary which way we open. Currently for me it
opens with OOO 3.0.0 on x86_64 as .csv and on i386 through a different filter.

Is there an existing mechanism, or a way to add one, to somehow mark filters
like the csv one or the text encoded ones as "final fallbacks of the final
fallback" so they appear at the end.

i.e. Heres a sample document which is suffixed as ".xls", but is really a .html
document missing its title. If it is re-suffixed as .html there is no
problem. But if retained as .xls then at a certain point a hash_map of filters
is created and we iterate through it looking for all filters that support .xls
files which are a number of excel filters and the .csv filter. That list is then
used with the top most filter given priority over the lower ones.

The catch is that the order of elements within a hash_map is arbitrary, and can
change per version of stlport or per-platform. So one some platforms the top
entry happens to be an excel filter and the document opens up immediately in
calc, on some the csv filter gets placed first and the csv dialog opens.

Of course I can, and with great pleasure. :) I'm attaching the odt file, the
doc version of it (the odt exported from OO as Word 97/2000/XP) and a
screenshot showing the same doc file in both OO and MS Word side by side and
with the odt file.

Also, note that I've reproduced it on more than one machine, with both english
and french version of OO. However, opening the doc file with MS Word 2000
doesn't show the problem, while opening the same file with MS Word 2003 does
(can't test with MS Word XP). Word 2000 shows comments in a different section
while Word 2003 shows them as bubbles on the right side of the screen.

Indeed OLE needed a special handling for full drag. A SdrGrafObj works well, for
the cost that the corect layouting happens not during, but at the end of the
interaction. Works well and is much more responsive.

I also had to adapt chart2 due to it's usage of derivations from SdrDragMethod.
Works now again.

There are still some smaller differences which i add to the todo-list.

Todo (adapted):
- Test IAs: ... more thorough common testing
- IA with SW: get no primitives currently
- IA with SW: Anchor move? (and in SC, was not yet done?)

hmm, this is a good detailed description, thank you. This issue is for
(MultiLine) Edit fields, the document shortcuts are handled in issue 92224.
However since you mentioned some shortcuts I haven't fixed ye, I'll set this one
back to started.

Great that this is being looked after. I am really looking forward to the
mac-port of 3.1.

Just in case this is considered helpful, a comprehensive list of
cmd/alt/ctrl-cursor key functions in
standard Aqua editors (TextEdit), and the current behavior in three different
OOO-Aqua 3.0
fields/windows:

What one would expect in OSX:

alt-up/down: Jump paragraph-end/beginning
alt-right/left:Jump wordwise forward/backward
cmd-up/down: Jump document-end/beginning
cmd-right/left: Jump to line end/beginning
ctrl-up/down: display shifts one window but cursor remains where it is (you can
have a look
somewhere else and return with a up/down key-press)
ctrl-left/right: seems to jump to line-end/beginning and the do nothing

To select, add a shift, moveing/jumping is exactly the same
Detail: On wordwise selection the first space is not included

Current behaviour in OOO3.0 Aqua (as observed on Leopard 10.55):

Word-document:
- alt-up/down YES
- alt-left/right YES
- cmd-up/down jumps paragraph beginning-wise (like alt-up), not document
start/end
- cmd-left/right YES
- ctrl-up/down ctrl is ignored
- ctrl-left/right ctrl is ignored

- alt-shift-up/down - cursor remains where it is
- alt-shift-left/right - cursor remains where it is
- cmd-shift-up/down - selects paragraphwise (not documentwise)
- cmd-shift-left/right - selects wordwise (not linewise)
- ctrl-shift-up/down ctrl is ignored
- ctrl-shift-left/right ctrl is ignored

SQL-editor
- alt-up/down - cursor remains where it is
- alt-left/right - cursor remains where it is
- cmd-up/down - cursor jumps linewise
- cmd-left/right - cursor remains where it is
- ctrl-up/down ctrl is ignored
- ctrl-left/right ctrl is ignored

- alt-shift-up/down - cursor remains where it is
- alt-shift-left/right - selects characterwise
- cmd-shift-up/down - selects paragraphwise (not documentwise)
- cmd-shift-left/right - selects wordwise (not linewise)
- ctrl-shift-up/down ctrl is ignored AND NO selection occures (also not
characterwise)
- ctrl-shift-left/right ctrl is ignored AND NO selection occures (also not
characterwise)

Options-dialogue
- alt-up/down - can't test (found no no multiline-field)
- alt-left/right - cursor remains where it is
- cmd-up/down - can't test (found no no multiline-field)
- cmd-left/right - cursor remains where it is (!)
- ctrl-up/down - can't test (found no no multiline-field)
- ctrl-left/right ctrl is ignored

- alt-shift-up/down - can't test (found no no multiline-field)
- alt-shift-left/right - selects characterwise
- cmd-shift-up/down - can't test (found no no multiline-field)
- cmd-shift-left/right - selects wordwise including space (not linewise)
- ctrl-shift-up/down - can't test (found no no multiline-field)
- ctrl-shift-left/right - cursor moves characterwise AND NO selection

I think that correct "Priority level" need be P2 and not P3.
P2 is an issue with "data loss".

And, I think that P2 priority need a target ASAP, not "OOo Later".

"OOo later" mean "When someone take a look here" or "Never".

Best regards,
Renato

Calc is able to import Excel's Pivot tables but to preserve the last view of the
table, the DataPilot (Pivot) table is not being activated. This has to be done
by the user manually.
The quality of the Pivot table import has been improved over the past years.
It is worth to activate/enable the Pivot tables by default.

Arrows also move the current selection in the edit view. Is this really to
provide a second set of keys?

Arrows ware also used to change focus if the focus is inside a pane/toolbar/tab
control/etc.

I would say -1 to this 'enhancement'. Page Up/Down give 100% Keyboard
accessibility here.

On a second node 'Space + Arrow Up/Down' is not possible, I'm sure you mean
'Shift + ' ?

Thank you for this information.
I did not know the OO parser would ignore everything after a trailing ";".
I never noticed that.
It would be kinda cool to allow inline comments after the trailing ";" of a
function. Never thought about it.

However, and for the records, your example is not clear.
I guess you meant to say something like:

And entry similar to: =abs(-10); + 1 would return 10 before OO3.
Now in OO3 it returns Err:509, which is correct. Thanks for this.
But the above expression has no trailing ";". The ";" is embedded in the
expression, which is wrong. And before OO3, undetectable.

However, and entry similar to: =abs(-10) + 1; would return 11 before OO3.
Now in OO3 it returns Err:509. An otherwise valid expression is rejected because
of the trailing ";" (nothing else left on the RHS of ";" but EOS).

Thanks again for the fantastic work in OO. Can't say enough of this.

->pl: just wondering as it does not work as well inside Writer on Mac, does
wordwise selection work in MultiLineEdits with Mac appropiate keys or will this
be fixed by the framework issue as well?

Do we have a spec for the current or the requested behavior? I think there are
good reasons for both behaviors.

Display text of such a hyperlink is not necessarily identical to URL. If it is
not it should be spell checked.

I can't remember that I've specified such behavior. Anyhow, it should be change
to something where the user has control about it. :-) Please change the behavior
in a way that it stays closed if one closed the pane.

This issus was selected as one of the next enhancements to fix. As 3.1 seems to
be impossible I set the target to 3.2.

MRU->OD: could you please have a look, if this is mor for you or FME (or even
MAV)? I cannot see the problem when entering any object - I can see slow
scrolling every tim I try to scroll across the Draw OLE on page 2. This only
happens on Linux, on Windows it is smooth.
