We want a well defined workflow. It's also for security. That means the office checks for updates of any installed extensions automatically or when the users request it explicitly. Extension developers can easy update their extension in the extension repository or can provide an own update url (own repository). The official repository is recommended. 2. This can be easy achieved by using the unopkg command line tool as well. Well using the API is of course easier here because you don't have to search the office if you use the simple bootstrap. We haven't published the API because we are working on improvements in this area and we want to keep the flexibility of easy changes. But we are thinking about a way to become more flexible with published API's in the future. That means API's might be change with new major versions. Not defined yet but i think we need this flexibility in the future ... I set this request on invalid because it's the normal process to publish API's over time. We don't need requests for that - too much overhead. Use the current API, i don't expect big changes in the near future. I was adding to the parenthesized list on the second line of the first paragraph. I saw the word by shifted to the end of the line, but the b was up against the margin line, and the margin showed a smudge, which might have been a y. I get a lot of rendering errors in Writer, so I just minimized and re-maximized the window by clicking twice on the taskbar icon, which usually cures the problem. The b was still where it had been, but the character in the margin was now clearly a y. That's when I took the screen-shot. The paragraph contains a two-line drop cap, and changing the first character (which I was doing) changes the kerning, which affects the line length, and may have contributed to the problem. After a Save/Exit/reopen-document sequence, the by was properly shifted down to the third line. I am only reporting this utterly trivial and transient error based on the assumption that this is ''never, ever'' supposed to happen. Back in the day, I jumped on ones like this with both feet: what other damage is this error causing? Where else is this ''kind'' of error causing trouble? Feel free to ignore it if my assumption is wrong. (The only vaguely-related issue I could find is Issue 92498, hanging punctuation in Chinese. Windows XP, SP2 ATI Rage II+ 3D, PCI 16-bit video @ 1152 x 864 The behavior was as follows: - Start OO.o - Create new presentation - Choose basic template (1 header box above, 1 bullet box below) - Enter Hebrew text - Show Slide show (F5) - Screen is blank To fix the problem: - Add Latin text - Show Slide Show - Screen is correct, with both Latin and Hebrew Once the problem was fixed, it did not recur, and slides showed correctly, whether they contained Latin text, Hebrew, or a combination. We did some testing, and established that the use of Latin text was enough to enable display of the slide, for example: - Start OO.o - Create new presentation - Choose basic template (1 header box above, 1 bullet box below) - Enter Latin text in a field - Delete the Latin text - Enter Hebrew text - Show Slide Show - Screen is correct, showing Hebrew It sure smells like an uninitialized variable (or missing initialization procedure) that is invoked from Latin (English) text but not from Hebrew (RTL) text. Whether it is a function of the direction (RTL vs. LTR), or of the font / language set, is unclear. With Excel spreadsheets, it shouldn't be too bad, since importing a .xls sets regex to off, which is the closest to Excel behavior, at least until issue 32344 gets fixed. So I'd interpret this issue as a request that newly created spreadsheets default to regexes off. I don't think this could break existing spreadsheets, since regex setting is part of the document. The argument is that users sophisticated enough to know about regexes probably also can be trusted to find the setting, but users unfamiliar with regexes seem likely to be surprised.
