Indeed the Vista file picker implementation does not consider resource strings.

I will post a patch to fix this, haven't done it yet, there is some tweaking to
do. But I already encountered a problem:

There doesn't seem to be a way to resize the custom check boxes added to the
file picker. When loading the localized resource strings e.g. for German, the
text will wrap several times, and the monstrous word "Dateinamenserweiterung"
will be split up in the middle of the word.

I will post the patch for the file picker in issue 94054.

Xray only reveals the bug. You don't need Xray to replicate the crash.

The property EndPosition of any Draw style crashes OpenOffice.
Run the macro in next attachment.

Yes, and It seems that "LIKE" is the keyword for this issue.
I mean if I'll type only 'репка' phrase will remain unchanged (the rule will 
be "='репка'"). But when I use "LIKE" keyword the 'п' letter become '?'. The 
same for "NOT LIKE".
But If I'll try "BETWEEN 'репка' AND 'репка2'" everything will remain 
unchanged.

This report appropriately describes the issue already. Specifically: bulleted 
content in legacy documents that was indented with a paragraph style is no 
longer displaying the appropriate indent in version 3.0.1. 

1. In 3.0 build create a new Text document 
2. Create a style with a paragraph indent of 1.27 cm
3. With the selected style click the bullet button and type some text
3.a. Bulleted content has both the indent of the existing paragraph (x) and the 
default bullet indent (y)  so the indent is x+y
4. Open the text document in version 3.0.1 ... the bulleted text has an indent 
of y (the default for bulleted content). The paragraph indent has been 
completely ignored. This is contrary to the statement in the specification!

In the Export dialog, the following messages are not translated into Japanese.

I am using CentOS 5.2 and Kubuntu 8.10 with OOo3.0.1.

In OOo Base each time I use the wizard to create a Table, I select some fields
to be Autovalue as "Yes". The Autovalue does not get retained after the wizard
is finished. Here is an example of the steps.

Create a table with Table Wizard
 – Select Business table: Payments
• PaymentID (Type=Integer,AutoValue=Yes)
• CustomerID (Type=Integer,Required=yes)

Later when, I start entering the data, PaymentID is not set to the Autovalue as 
yes.

I think the obvious way for this is that the font automatically adepts to the 
selected size of the legent. Maybe also the space between lines. That way I can 
easily adjust those two parameters by just draging the green handles, which I 
think would be very convenient.

In the test file (not used for a about a week)
The alignment is systematically lost in all queries
When I opened it the numeric formats were gone in the two first queries
(chrono_banks & solde); I formated the columns again and now they are still
there after several open/close.

In my file (from which the test file was extracted) I notice the same behavior:
- systematic lost of all alignments
- systematic lost of the status of the right panel (document -> none)
- periodic lost of formats in some queries (not always the same!)

Please also note that each time I open a file "save" is proposed on exit, even
if no changes have been made.

To replicate:

1. Download *.dtd file, such as

2. Download *.ent file, such as

3. Writer > File menu > Open > File type > All files (*.*).
4. Open both.

What I get is Writer/Web showing each file as a line of text and some notes on
the right side. Most text is not visible.

5. Close both files.
6. Writer > File menu > Open > File type > any type other than All files (*.*).

What I get is nothing. Neither file shows up for any other file type at all, not
even a text-like type.

7. gedit > File menu > Open > file type = All Files and Character Coding = Auto
Detected.
8. Open both.

What I get is both files opened more or less as text (plus color-coding). I can
read probably all the text in the file.

9. Writer > File menu > Open > File type > All files (*.*).
10. Open both.
11. Save as Text Encoded, without overwriting original files.
12. Close and open both as Text Encoded.

What I get is no content or almost no content. Almost everything is lost.

13. Writer > File menu > Open > File type > All files (*.*).
14. Open both of the original files.
15. Save as offered format (HTML), without overwriting original files.
16. When it asks whether to continue saving in that format or in ODF, choose
either option.
17. Close and reopen both files as Text Encoded.

What I get is each file with little or no text and some notes on the right side.
Most text is not visible.

What I expect in Writer is some kind of display of all the text contents,
perhaps interpreted but still largely in view, and then to be able to save all
of the text and see it all on reopening.

The problem seems to be related to the extensions .dtd and .ent, both of which
are specialized and uncommon.

What's needed is an option in the File > Open dialog to accept arbitrary
filename extensions as if plain text.

Hi, on the same platform as the one described in my original posts above but
running OpenOffice 3.0 it seems this problem may have been resolved in the
update from version 2.4. CPU usage remains low and stable even over several
hours of operation for each soffice.bin process attached to each Sun Ray Kiosk
session.

I have one question. I see that it makes sense to change 'Format > Object' to
'Format > Drawing Object'. But should 'Insert > Object' be changed to 'Insert >
Drawing Object'? Considering the sub-menu items such as OLE object, plug-in...
etc, 'Insert > Object' seems to be more reasonable. Am I missing something here?

I installed OOo 3.0.1 into to Windows 7 Beta under MS Virtual PC 2007 and find
that the same problem. In the virtual environment, the graphic driver is S3
Trio32/64. See new screen shot attachment.

So, I suspect that ATI may not be blamed for all the problems since in the other
dialog boxes, like, line, text, area etc, such problem does not happened.

Please look at the codes of the displaying of, for example the line dialog box
and the position and size. Please compare them and see if there is any
difference. I suspect that it has to do with refreshing of the object. Thanks.

A very useful feature would be to increase the number of snap points on objects
from 4 to 16. I am trying to create network diagrams and 4 snaps is just not
enough to make it look decent. MS PowerPoint has 8 snap point, however 16 would
be the perfect number.

Writer does not interpret hanging indents as Word and RTF do. I apologize for
using a misleading "Found in Version" entry.  I believe I am using OOO300m15
build 9379. Hagar de l'Est was kind enough to supply a work around in
OpenOffice.org Community forum.  I believe it is issue 15807 there.  It has
files that I would like to attach here but I don't see a way to do.  It is
titled [Work around] Import flubs Word hanging indents. On February 23 by
Heineke. I also apologize if this issue is already tracked elsewhere but I could
not find it in my searches.

I tried following these steps:
1. Insert Object -> OLE Object
2. Create New -> Further Objects
3. "Create from File" radio button on the left.
4. Click the "Display as icon" checkbox to the right.

But I don't have a Display as icon checkbox.  See attached screen grab.Tested on
OO 3.0 Windows and OO 3.0.1 Mac.

When you change the selected line the line style toolbar drop down does not get
updated.
the screen shot shows a selected dashed line but the line style toolbar dropdown
list is still showing continuious.
to reproduce create 2 lines, change the style of the second, note that the
rendering changes (and the drop box may or may not change sometime it would seem
you have to select the new style twice [might be clumsy user error]).
now select the first line, and the style dropdown will return to continuious
now select the second (dash or dotted) line and you will see the dropdown does
not update.
if you create a text area then the drop down will change to invisible, and if
you select the first (cont) line then it updates, but if you select the second
(dotted) line the dropdown will remain as "invisible".

so are there any suggestions how to fix sb-comment:1 ?

I am a little confused, is it allowed to have installed two totally  different
components with the same name ? 

If yes, pythonscript.py really needs a complete redesign (actually I dont
understand, how script uri then reference the different incarnations of the same
package name, currently they reference it only by package name AFAIK ).

If no, it is imho a bug in the ooo framework, that the the python script
provider is instantiated, when there is an old and a new component within the
cache directory.

Since the passage of OOo 2.4 to OOo 3.0 on a samba network, after opening the
remote file, it's impossible to save it. 

Two successive error messages:

This works.  I wasn't assigning the filetype.  Choosing "All Files" and opening 
the file test.xls opens a delimited text file.  However, if I choose "Microsoft 
Excel 2003 XML (*.xml)" and then type in the file name (*.xls don't show up in 
the list) it does open.

If I don't already have Calc open though, and I navigate to the directory the 
file is in and double click on it, it opens as a delimited text file.

Is there any way that I can tell it to always see *.xls files as "Microsoft 
Excel 2003 XML (*.xml)" ?

Double clicking on the filename to open it, used to open it as a spreadsheet 
with Open Office version 2.0.4.  We first noticed this in version 2.3.  I am 
using 3.0.1 right now which I downloaded from download.openoffice.org

The file opens fine in OOo here. How to do:
(1) File > Open
(2) Goto the location of the file and click on the file name.
(3) Open the list "file type".
(4) Select type "Microsoft Excel 2003 XML (*.xml)".
(5) Click on Open button.
The file opens directly in Calc. You get one empty sheet labeled "test", the
title bar shows the file name.

Do you have opened it in this way?

Do you use an original OOo or do you use a version which you have got from
somewhere else, for example from you Linux distributor?

After additional testing I found that this issue only occurs when there is
Bullets or Numbering applied in the Writer document. If you Select All and
toggle Bullets or Numbering before doing the Outline to Presentation it works
perfectly.

The link is to page 2 of my documentation.  The last couple of update posts
leads me to believe that the problem may be in the way that nautilus is bringing
up openoffice or possibly how openoffice handles what nautilus gives it when the

OK - I think I figured this out.

1. Insert Object -> OLE Object
2. Create New -> Further Objects
3. "Create from File" radio button on the left.
4. Click the "Display as icon" checkbox to the right.

I suspect psprint's fontmanager picks up different numbers of fonts depending 
on the locale.
@pl: AFAIK we have no influence on what X11+FC report for font paths. Maybe 
there is a workaround 
possible if the locale is set wrongly.

@kpalagin: please find the file pspfontcache (usually somewhere 
~/.openOffice.org-3/user/psprint). 
Delete it. Then run the office in each of the locale settings and compare the 
differences in the regenerated pspfontcache file for each situation.

A numbered equation, inserted as a table using fn-F3, fails to wrap properly 
around a frame, with wrap 
setting 'None' placed at the top of a page.  The problem occurs when the 
equation would have appeared 
at the top of the page containing the frame, had the frame not been there.  
During editing, the 
equation wraps correctly, but when the document is closed and reopened, the 
equation disappears 
behind the frame.  The paragraph immediately following the equation always 
wraps correctly.

After opening the file, the equation can be made to wrap correctly by inserting 
and deleting lines 
before the equation.  However, once the file is closed and re-opened, the 
equation will have once again 
disappeared behind the frame.  When the equation is hidden behind the frame on 
the screen, it is also 
hidden when the document is exported to PDF.

the NSIS version? It can be influenced by the directory, from which the
executable was started (local drive or network drive) and from a certificate in
the executable, that can be bought for example from VeriSign.
Do you have some more information?
I downloaded Infrarecorder 0.46.2 and saw that it uses the very old NSIS 2.24
and when starting the installation I got the UAC warnings.
Nevertheless we can switch to NSIS 2.42 for OOo 3.2, but my tests showed no
change in UAC warnings.

I noticed that I in fact was not right in issue 99638 when I told that Impress 
does not have to link against svxmsfilter library - I overlooked that only ppt 
export filter is a separate library, but the ppt import is not.

However, it is ~easy to fix, and move the ppt import to the external library 
as well.  I reused the 'emp' library that was there for export for now, 
renamed it to 'sdfilt', and moved the import there.

I'll test it a bit, and commit to CWS ooxml03.

Situation:

NFS server - Mandriva 2006. Provides some share/, using "all_squash" (treats all
clients as anonymous users).
NFS client - Mandriva 2008.1, Czech OO 3.0.1. from official RPMs.

Now let's have a NFS directory "share/", which contains text document
"file.odt". Owner/group is always "nobody"/"nogroup".

1) Permissions: share/ - "drwxrwxr-x", file.odt - "-rw-rw-r--". OO opens file
read-only.
2) Permissions: share/ - "drwxrwxr-x", file.odt - "-rw-rw-rw-". OO opens file
normally, lock file is created.
3) Permissions: share/ - "drwx--", file.odt - "-rw-rw-r--". OO opens file
read-only.
4) Permissions: share/ - "drwx--", file.odt - "-rw---". OO opens file
normally, lock file is created.

Why is that? I mean, it should work fine with all four combinations, right? And
with OO 2.4.1, it does...

For the two platforms where this is reported please run
fgrep pango_font_description_get_size_is_absolute /usr/lib*/libpango*
Either that symbol is not found or the GTK-libs link to an older version of 
pango that doesn't export it yet.

CWS ooo31gsl3 got the fix to handle old pangos where the symbol is missing.
