I ask him save in excel97 format and he was happy with much faster performance in Calc. But this was not a solution I like so I ask the user send the file to me. I find out that there was lot of cell styles in the document. Even I remove all data from sheets it is still quite slow (minutes) to open or to save with just one letter in one cell. When I open this ods-file with excel 2010 beta it opens in few seconds. So it seems that there is some possibility to improve opening time even if file is in ODF format. My query in Issue Tracker doesn't result exactly same problem but in one slow file operation issue for Calc there is also quite many cell styles in the large document. Sorry I can't find that issue number anymore, but file name start with klapeto98x. I try to attach empty file so that developers can check if there is easy way for enchangement or if there is some bug in file. The plain 'vanilla' US English [USE] oo installation includes spell-check and grammar and thesaurus data files so files can be checked for spelling etc. The USE data also happen to contain British English [BE] versions. BE is not a separate dic/gram/thes pack. It's not the localisation. I think USE versions have BE as well - English (UK) is an installed dic/gram/thes language. So If you change a wordpro paragraph or section into English (UK) then it will be checked against BE. The problem is this: the thesaurus becomes unavailable - in some but not all packages, it seems - when the para/section is in English (UK). Setting it back to US re-enables the USE thesaurus This is despite the fact that BE is part of the USE thesaurus. I could concede that this could be a dictionary issue or that fault may lie with careless or unwitting packagers but at the same time it looks as if many packagers fall into the same trap and it's been going on for years over a number of versions. End-users have had to deal with a very persistent obstacle to BE take-up. I do not know what is required to make packages language correct. I'm not sure why the BE thesaurus from http://brit-thesaurus.sourceforge.net/ could not be included in a discrete BE dic/gram/thes pack. That operator does not what i expected, i need to compare the contents for equality like my helper arePrimitive2DSequencesEqual(..) does. This leads to always re-decomposing the metafile primitive since the SdrOle2Primitive2D::operator== always returned false. This is avoided now. This took time at each repaint, but just a fraction (maybe 20%) which is nice for a decomposition of such a big metafile to primitives. (2) In the metafile primitive decoder itself, the handling of ClipRegions was not optimal. In this case, a ClipRegion was set very early in the metafile (probably for the whole chart area). A lot of push/pop actions follow which not really do anything (e.g. not changing the region). At pop() the old ClipRegion needs to be restored which is a ClipRegion change. For that change, a MaskPrimitive2D with the up-to-then created sub-content was created. While this is not wrong, it is not necessary when as here with a pop() the old and the new ClipRegion are the same. Optimized this and other cases so that much less MaskPrimitive2Ds will be created. This brings bact the speed to former versions with even slight speedups (as seen for HJMemulator_reduced.xls already).
