Leaving aside suid and sgid as something else to discuss, installation of finer-grained security via multilevel administration roles and/or Access Control Lists (ACLs) may be required for OpenOffice.org use in multilevel secure environments. This entire paragraph bears greater scrutiny if OpenOffice.org is going to expand its relevance to large-team, corporate or government use. INSTALLATION TO /usr: CDE window manager integration vs Gnome seems to be depreciated in OpenSolaris, the probable basis of future Solaris releases. Nonetheless, assuming CDE depreciation must lag OS, CDE integration should probably continue for the time being. This message does not address the details of Gnome integration, although the principles remain the same. Gnome is obviously the future priority. For application integration, primarily file types and icons, the CDE window manager "dt" looks first to: /usr/dt/appconfig/types/[C|en_US.UTF-8|] and then to: /etc/dt/appconfig/types/[C|] Thus application integration never required application modification of /usr. The same OS configuration directories are already available for local hosts. I hardly present this as the final word, but do hope that further discussion ensues that strengthens OpenOffice.org (Oracle Office?) for large-scale use. I've got this habit of hitting ctrl-f and typing the search term only to find I already had the dialog up somewhere from last time and it just closed it, leaving me to type the text into the document accidentally. I created a bullet-pointed list of text items in a text box, organized as level-1 and level-2 items, then I assigned a custom animation in order to apply dissolving effect on the list based on level-1 items. My intention was to have the list appearing a piece at a time, level-1 item by level-1 item. Level-2 items should appear together with level-1 ones. To achieve this I selected "level-1 paragraphs" from the "group text" option of the Effect Options dialog, for my text box. In the Custome Animation pane, I can see that the animation order is correct and level-1 items are to start AFTER the previous item, while level-2 elements are correctly assigned to start TOGETHER with the previous item. I added delays of 2 seconds on the level-1 items, so they have a pause from one to another. The problem is that Impress changes the way it renders this animation unpredictably, each time I run the presentation. That is the intended new behavior for converting strings.
See i5658 desc215 for details.
You have to correct your spreadsheet to unambiguous formulas.
You can avoid any problems with date strings and locals, if you use
=EOMONTH(DATE(2008;10;1);C2-1)
instead of
=EOMONTH("01/10/2008";C2-1)
assuming 1 is the day and 10 is the month.
Only strings containing ISO formats are converted now, to avoid ambiguity. You
can still use
=EOMONTH("2008-10-01";C2-1)
I don't know, whether it is possible to convert date strings to ISO format
automatically, guessing the local from the cell number format language for
example. I tend to set this issue to "WONTFIX", but a developer should comment.

Field "Modified" is updated if the document is saved. Field "Last printed" is updated if the document is printed. If the document is exported into PDF format, which is sent to someone via email as an electronic version, there is no field available (so far I know), which would be updated, so that it would be clear when it was done (the "Last printed" field is not updated,which is ok, although in certain sense this way of document handling replaces a print and sending to the other party). Then it is difficult to identify the versions. I suggest, that a new field is created "PDF export" similar as "Last printed", however being updated at the moment, when any type of the PDF export is performed. Another question is how to safely identify a version of a document. This is an issue with the field "Modified". This field is updated when a file is saved. However, if a document is modified without being saved, than the printed version of such modified document is different from the saved one and it is not indicated in the field "Modified", similarly for the PDF export. This way it is not guaranteed that two documents with the same contents of the field "Modified" are really identical. OpenOffice recognizes if a document is changed since last save, but this state cannot be recognized by any field. It is assumed, that after all, the document is saved before close, but in between it is possible to generate a number of documents different from the saved version. It would be ideal, if it were possible to generate a unique stamp of a document, which would be related to the document contents, and which would be able to confirm if there are two identical documents, eventually generated in different methods, such as print and PDF export & print. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The entries are keyboard only with no mathematical operations. Removing the check mark from "Negative Numbers in Red" in the Numbers format window has an inconsistent result. That is if you select the whole of the document containing numbers and remove the check mark some numbers will remain red.
