On LINUX, using build 3.1.1 on Ubuntu, the OOo 'reverse' option is not sensitive to the CUPS setting (using HPLIP), and overrides it, so that 'reversed' has to be used to get reasonable output on a face-up printer output. The OOo 'reverse' setting on LINUX needs to be sensitive to the CUPS OutputFaceUp setting of the particular printer, or to a setting in Print/Properties, so that (1) output is *effectively* in reverse order when 'reverse' is not selected and the printer output is face-up (so that the printer output stack is 'normal'), and (2) output is *effectively* in normal order when 'reverse' IS selected and the printer output is face-up, so that the printer output stack is 'back to front'; this will then enable the user to simulate DUPLEX, using the 'left/right' selection.
