Regarding other issues mentioned: The reporter says that changing the presentation title style properties does not affect objects with the graphics title property. However again, that is how styles should work given that these are two independent styles that just happen to have the same name. Of course if one wants to mix the auto-allocated layouts and manual elements it would make sense to have identically named graphics styles to the presentation ones, and one would have to manually update them both to keep the styles in sync, which is clumsy IMO but seems to be the design. The report then talks about the update button functionality. I believe this refers to the Update Style button on the same Styles and Formatting floating window. I found this works correctly in my version allowing me to update both types of styles and seeing them applied properly so I think this may have been fixed since Jul '09. The only functionality I can see in that window that doesn't work and as far as I can see is not a documented limitation is the Fill Format Mode button, but that is trivial to workaround in the common case of updating one element as double-clicking on the style will update the selected element. The Fill Format Mode however would be handy for applying a style to multiple items. It is possible to ctrl-A or otherwise select all items then do this. Interestingly this also overrides the presentation style limitation above changing all items including presentation ones to the selected graphics style and seeming to convert presentation items to graphics items from there on. Perhaps that is not intended, and it seems inconsistent, but maybe it is good as a workaround to the design limitation that seems to be documented. The comment can't be editing (produce a chrash when trying) but new comments can be inserted and editing. (new comments also crash when inserting a link or email). 4-The error appears anytime one inserts a comment, no matter what slide are one working on or even if one imports a file from other program (I try with Power Point). 5- Sometimes Impress doesn't crash when inserting url in a comment. Using computers supposes a minimum of knowledge. And saving a document is the *very* basic. Not reading warnings on quit is a user error which is only a user error, not a defect and not software design failure. I guess, like the children you tell 3 times : don't touch the oven! and who do it anyway, your user will have learned from her mistake and will save her documents in the future. That's experience. That's part of live. Beside those simple principles, there is a majority of users who save their documents and read warnings. Such a feature would be a pain for them because: - the software would do things they don't expect - the hard drive would be trashed with every possible temp files - some sensitive and secret info might remain on the machine while the user didn't wanted this. Make the sheet 'label aware' so that it knows when to turn on the 'Range contains column labels' option. 3. The variable 'Range contains column labels' appears to be constant. Change this so that when the user unchecks this box, the sort will behave in the appropriate manner the next time. Here are the steps I followed to reproduce: 1) Create a new Impress file, with a blank slide template. 2) From the Drawing bar, select an ellipse image, and draw 12 small and 1 larger circle on the slide (to mimic the example from the OP). 3) From the Drawing bar, select a straight line connector and connect each small circle to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th circle next to it counter-clockwise. (ie Attach each small circles to the next 4 circles counter-clockwise, skipping the circle immediately adjacent.) 4) Save the Impress file. 5) Open, then close the Impress file roughly 20-30 times, watching for the straight-line connectors to change to standard connectors, and exhibit the 90 degree behaviour described by the OP.
